  1. Erny- this page should answer all your questions - http://bergamascousa.com/the-coat/ After having dreadlocks myself for many years Im well aware of the work it takes to seperate the matts while are forming, once they are formed it is very low maintainence to care for. Poodlefan- Yes I do intend on showing my pup There is only one dog out of the first litter being shown in NSW, the only one ever shown in Australia, and he has done well. That Poodle is stunning Peiluvr- The breeder imported her first Bergamasco about 7 years now! I havent even thought of names yet :p I dont want to get my hopes up just yet incase there are no pups, the Bitch has recently been in season and missed this time ;)
  2. After researching quite a few different breeds for my next dog, I discovered the Bergamasco Shepherd dog and after reading all I could on the breed and totally falling for them,I deceided to go to NSW to meet my first Bergamasco OMG this breed are absolutely stunning...they have the most amazing coat and such great temperaments, totally lapped up all the attention they could get and were so friendly and loving The breeder was excellent and Im so glad she imported this beautiful breed and put in the hard work to have them recognised in Australia! ... fingers crossed there will be a puppy for me some time next year
  3. One of my Shar Pei is like this when i go away, no reaction when I return, ignores me for days then all is back to normal. Im currently in NSW and get home tomorrow and I will be very surprised if I get any kind of happy greeting from her. My Pei are currently staying with Doler Ker (Thanks Ker ) and by the sounds of it they both have been very spoilt so I doubt she will even want to come home with me
  4. Shar pei - average weight is around 20kg and dont need a walk everyday
  5. Hey pim314 Here is the link for the Shar Pei thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...amp;start=14280 you will get heaps of great advice here sounds like it could be Shar Pei fever... Where in SA are you? Ive found the best vet here that knows Shar pei well would be Michael Burke on Main North Road.
  6. Im in as usual :D will bring Asia this time, as she is the only one of my dogs who doesnt annoy everyone I may have 2 pom x malt pups in care, so they will come too ;)

  8. Quick update on Ruger... I wasnt expecting results so soon but hes now in Remission ! Hes responded to his chemo treatments so well that I havent noticed any changes in him at all ;) So glad I made the right choice for him and his cancer was found so early, fingers crossed hes around for a long time yet
  9. Just an update on Ruger... he started Chemo on Thursday and he is doing well, no problems so far and he hasnt been unwell at all. His Lymph nodes have gone right down to almost normal size which I wasnt expecting so soon and my vet said he is on his way to being in remission. I know he still has so far to go and will be having treatment for months but Im very happy so far I have transfered him to the vet at Morphett Vale for his treatment as its close to home and easier for family and friends to drop him off or pick him up when Im working. Hes back at home now as hes doing so well and has been very happy playing with the pups I have here. He is not at all keen on taking so many tablets everyday and having his temperature taken, but Im sure he will get used to it. Tomorrow he goes in for another blood test then the next lot of treatment on Thursday, so fingers crossed he keeps doing this well Sorry to hear your boy has cancer too ES it was so hard to decide what to do as it was a huge shock initially but I can only try and hope for the best for him. Marion so sad to hear of your Cody it is a horrible thing to deal with cancer and to know you wont have then for years to come
  10. Thanks for the support at this really hard time Ruger went in for a biopsy of his Lymph nodes on Friday with my vet and is doing well :D I deceided it was best for him to stay with my parents and their 13 yr old Akita for a few days as I currently have 3 rescue pups here atm and they would annoy him too much but when they rehome I will have to put all my time into him to give him the best chance. Sadly my dad also starts chemo for cancer the same time as my special boy Ruger does, next week His Lymph nodes have nearly doubled in size from first diagnosis which wasnt too long ago which is a worry but I have deceided to go full steam ahead and go for chemo as long as he copes ok. They will be treating him at the specialist centre at Norwood on Magill road, and Dr David Davies is confident we can at least get Ruger to his 8 th birthday as all tests so far have shown the cancer has not yet affected his major organs or bone marrow. Any info on Holistic treatment or links would be great Staffyluv, Im currently feeding Pro Plan Salmon for my dogs but will change to anything to give him the best go at life. I am so gonna miss the 50+ kg lean and the underarm nudges for pats when hes gone as its not a trait the Shar Pei have
  11. I will be there again Will be taking some of the Shar Pei Rescue Australia dogs out as from the last one we found the perfect home for one of our dogs in care Any Dolers interested in meeting up at a certain time , possibly around lunch time??
  12. So sorry to hear your beautiful Jess has gone to the Rainbow Bridge Robbi RIP Jess girl  to you all , no doubt she will be hugely missed.
  13. My beautiful boy Ruger has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma and though Ive agreed with the specialist to go ahead with chemo next week, im still unsure if its the best way to go. I just cant get my head around the idea he may only have weeks to live as hes showing no symptoms besides the enlarged lymph nodes, hes still the very happy bouncy boy he has always been. Just to see him at the Adelaide meet not long ago, im sure no one would have even known he has cancer as he had such a good day running around with all the other dogs and hes loving playing with the 3 rescue pups I have in my care atm I do have insurance and understand chemo will only give him another 12 months or so, but I dont want him to suffer Would love to hear of others experiences going through chemo with their dog as the specialist feels its worth going ahead with as hes only 6 and his body condition and health seems good at the moment What to do....
  14. Maple is such a pretty girl. Thanks for helping us with pups on Sunday Ravyk, they were all so well behaved, im sure they saved all their naughtyness for when they got home Maple was listed in the Mildura pound as a Staffy x but she definately has Amstaff puppy ears and will grow to about Amstaff size. No Shar Pei in her, but Im a sucker and kept going back to her photo in the pound listings hoping another rescue group would save her, as she was well over due and only 5 months old. She was definately worth rescuing as she is such a good girl and gets on well with all dogs, cats and loves everyone, such a beautiful girl :D
  15. Thanks for the offer DBT, they are fine here for now ,but I will let you know if anything changes They havent had much socialising or attention, so I feel they would do better being separated so they get the 1 on 1 time they deserve. Both are now listed on Petrescue and Ive contacted people on my books who were after a Shar Pei puppy so Im sure they will be in forever homes soon
  16. Shar Pei Rescue Australia require foster carers for 2 Shar pei x pups. photos here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=202018 Henna and Bentley are just gorgeous, Henna is the more outgoing, independant pup who is happy to spend time outside exploring and keeps herself entertained while Bentley is a very quiet boy who just loves to be near people and just loves cuddles. We will be looking to place them into foster homes in the next week or so as they will be going in for all their vetwork tomorrow. if anyone in Adelaide is interested in becoming a foster carer for us or knows anyone who would like to help out, please send me a pm or call me, Heather 0422893914. Im sure these pups will not need care for long as they are just beautiful All costs, training etc will be provided
  17. Both have solid blue tongues too, not like most of the pei x Ive had in care who have had flowered tongues
  18. :D for looking after Henna & Bentley while I was out today Rav Oh so cute... but Henna is such a terror she hasnt stopped since she got home. Bentley is so quiet and well behaved you hardly notice he is here. Mum was a chocolate Shar pei and dad is supposedly a Shar pei x Rottweiler, but not likely with Hennas colouring. They will both be off to the vet for desexing on Thursday, then will be looking for their forever homes, they are now 14 weeks old
  19. I will be coming with Ruger will also be bringing 2 rescue pups, Shar pei x, they are 14 weeks old These pups will need to go into foster care soon, so if anyone in Adelaide would be interested in becoming a foster carer for Shar Pei Rescue Australia please send me a PM or call me on 0422893914!
  20. Hope you are coming Ker, to spoil Ruger, as we dont know how much time he has Ruger has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma :D Still undeceided if I should put him though Chemo or not, he is only 6
  21. How very scary! :D Cassie. Fingers crossed that your big boofy boy is well and is home soon.
