If it had been reported to me that a pup was dead before I sent the papers I would be sending them back to VCA. -

Sorry JulesP they belong to the breeder until the breeder signs them over to the new owner to send in to Dogs Vic to have them changed over. -
Advice Please...puppy Apparently Dead After Illness
Bilbo Baggins replied to Rubric's topic in General Dog Discussion
You can not give the papers if you do not have them. Case in point. I had to DNA my last litter to prove the father, could not do that until they where microchipped, could not microchipp until 7 weeks. Could not register until I knew who the father was, could not send papers until after 7 weeks, papers arrive late last week 6 weeks after pups gone. They will be posted onece I have corrected the DNA profile with correct name. -

I thought it was illegal to sell an unchipped pup in Victoria? Not having a go, just asking a question. There is a grey area with this in Vic. Pet shops etc must be chipped but breeders can get away with not doing it and they add "oh the pup is too small and it will hurt" excuses. -
Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
Bilbo Baggins replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
I will make a point of speaking to the breeder and will ask if that is indeed the case. You have raised an interesting point here ellz. There was no mention of a photocopy of the reg. papers for the pup itself which leaves me feeling like a dumbass and I normally consider myself to be....well, let's say of slightly above average intelligence. I don't profess to be a brain surgeon though. I just hope that this thread doesnt turn ugly; please everyone lets keep it cool. GoE I was going to say before that a good cav breeder should also give you a copy of the parents eye and heart checks. -
How Would A Cavalier And German Shepherd Go Together?
Bilbo Baggins replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sunnyflower a well bred GSD should not be highly strung. When I got my shep I had a litter of 2 cav pups 4 weeks younger than the shep. They got extremely well. One pup went to Qld to live with huskies, no problems. Other pup returned everyweekend to show. They both grew at their expected rates and are still the best of mates. It is not uncommon to see all the cavs curled up with the shep in her crate. Earlier this year we had a griffon pup who shared the sheps crate. There is no reason once the GSD is older that it can not run with your partner. -

I agree with Poodlefan totally. Never mind about these soft placid GSD's you hear about..........they are not good examples of the breed and lack the traits of a true GSD. If you purchase a GSD bred to type, they are high in prey drive, they chase, bite as puppies and play hard and a little dog unable to cope with the GSD physical size can cop a hiding, not from aggression, but just pure rough play. The more the little dog runs away generally in fear of the GSD's size, the harder the GSD will chase and capture. It is managable and is not impossible to create harmony, but hard work with constant supervision of their interactions. I have the opposite at present with high drive 3 year old GSD and a 12 week old GSD puppy and the 3 year old is a trained dog, but you have to watch them with such a massive size difference as the small dog/puppy can be easily hurt or frightened Geez I would not like to meet your GSD. -
Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
Bilbo Baggins replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
Perhaps it is simply a case of the breeder knowing that I am situated in NSW, not QLD. Are you saying that any dog that is to partake in trials, etc...has to have reg. papers from the breeders? (not sure what you mean exactly). What about mutts performing in discipline? Yep papers required. -
Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
Bilbo Baggins replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is it just me or does this sounds dodgy as hell? I would never purchase a dog without pedigree papers unless I was adopting from a shelter or rescue group. It seems to happen quite a fair bit where puppies that are sold as pets do not always come with limited reg. papers. Is it all that important? Yes it is. If a breeder is willing to break the rules in one way, then they probably will in others. And no matter what you believe, without papers supplied you can't KNOW the breeder is registered or that the pup is pedigree. May as well pay $50 for a mutt at the pound. It costs about $30 to register a dog (on the main or limit register) and so charging stupid amounts extra for papers is a con. Most likely it's a dodgy breeder who will convince you not to get papers with the high amount because they can't actually supply them. ML, it seems to be quite prevalent where reg. breeders sell pups without limited reg. papers. I am not fussed with that although I am surprised that it is law that they must supply limited reg. papers and yet opt not to do so. I do know for a fact that this breeder is indeed legitimate as he/she sent me photocopies of the pup's parents reg. papers. No problem with mutts, there are some beautiful mutts out there but I really wanted a CKCS. Another thing I have noticed is that pups with full reg. papers are always selling for an extra $100-$200. I have never come across a pup with full reg. papers selling for an extra $30 only. Well interesting anyone can "do up" a set of parents papers amd photcopy them. -

I have cavs and a white shepherd. All get on fine. Your boy does sound precious bless his little cotton socks. :p EF Typos. -
I think this an exceelent shot to show him doing something in water which is what the breed is all about.

Yes oxytocin is the same. ETA. when you are feeling you have to feel right up in the chest, then work backwards. It is tricky because sometimes its difficult to distinguish from a bulky empty uterus and one with a pup still in it.

stef I am very sorry that the breeder has not responded to you. I contact the new owners within 2-3 days to see how the pup went then again about 1 month later. I give them my contact details and its up to them to do it as often as they wish I always respond. Last year someone found me through DOL breeders and sent me pics of a dog I sold 11 years ago. Recently they contacted me to say that she had died. This was great.

Yes. Be very careful, ivomectin is in a few things. Dog/s only need to be DNA profiled to aleviate any concerns. -
Breeders' Conditions When Selling A Puppy
Bilbo Baggins replied to Zug Zug's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our BC boy died from poisoning from the annual heartworm injection. He was a rescue, and we hadn't been told anything about risks involved with certain vaccines. We simply trusted our vet (we didn't know we had any reason not to) when they offered the injection, and after a full year of on-and-off illness, with us having no idea what was going on, he passed 6 weeks after the second injection from a massive haemorrhage (sp). So, there is validity in vaccination conditions I think. I think going so far as to say you cannot vaccinate your dog ever is going too far, but making a point of educating new puppy buyers (and warning against) certain vaccines and medications can in the end save the dog's life. I wish we'd had the knowledge. add: I think some of those conditions are rather ridiculous and would ward off many a pet puppy buyer. Here in lies a major problem that your vet should have been aware of. MDR1 in Collies. Because he was a rescue no prior knowledge.
