  1. Posting to find out how long I've been a member :) Ohh damn, I missed my 10 year by a month Can't believe I've been on here that long
  2. I've been feeding my dogs bones for years since my oldest (11 years) was a puppy. In that time I've only even had 2 incidents and it was with the same cut of bone, so they aren't getting those anymore. One got a big chunk lodged deep in her throat so she required emergency surgery to remove it, and the other only happened the other night and he got a big bit stuck in his teeth but that was easily removed. They are mostly supervised, in that I will check on them while they are eating and when finished to make sure all is OK so both the above incidences where discovered straight away but I don't hover over them even now. Hasn't put me off feeding bones but it's something to remember (and I admit I was a little "meh" about the risk) that even experienced dogs can have issues with bones.
  3. ....she looks like this when running. Always. Without fail. She can't control her ears or facial expressions. I don't think I have a normalish photo of her when she is moving
  4. Umm wow. Massive call. Sorry, but what a load of crap.
  5. No, I wouldn't have a dog just for the sake of having a dog. I want to be able to raise my dog from a puppy, and I want said pup to be of a certain breed and come from a responsible, reputable breeder.
  6. That's what I am looking forward to as well, but I am nearly there! Once my girl comes into season next (around March) she will be bred and hopefully have puppies :D
  7. Not so much inventing my own, more taking bits and pieces from everyone else and running with it  I would love to do ST's system as I feel my guys would enjoy that kind of crazy best but would probably keel over and die at the end of each run  and I don't know anyone who does it down here.
  8. I've never been afraid of doing blind crosses and will use them if I need too even though I was always told of the "evils" of them while learning. At the moment only use them on tunnels in trials but have been working on weavers for trials as I can already run to the end and cross to the other side while she weaves rather then rear crossing her and jumps as well but that's a work in progress still :) As yet, she has never gotten confused and doesn't try and blind cross me at any other time. I've also never followed one particular system. In fact, I don't know what the difference between them are so use whatever I feel works for us.
  9. Well done, I saw a few of his runs and he looked like he was having fun! I love watching the little dogs run, they always look so happy :D
  10. Last competition for us this year, this time flyball. Both dogs did extremely well, didn't put a paw wrong all weekend. Especially proud of my little girl who raced all day in a 4 dog team over her own height, as one of the slower teams lost a height dog so the teams got reshuffled a bit. They even managed a time of 19.3, and she did a PB of 4.7s starting and 4.9 crossing, which for me crossing her is awesome :D We had fun starting as well and I got a 0.002....so close too my 0.000! Darcy, I finally got my awesome starts back and he ran flawlessly all day, best time he got was 5.025. One day I will get him back under 5 seconds!
  11. We are going to have a bit of an easy (cheap!) year this year in regards to trialling but I have a few goals; Nova Ch. Ximinez Driver Reviver AFCH Get his RN (only one pass needed, no rush as he won't be doing higher levels) Start tracking Give tunnelers in Nadac a whirl Enter enough shows to get his neuter championship Darcy Ch. Magpielane Rebel Wind RA FM RE....get a few passes towards his RAE Have a go at NADAC Start tracking Get a 0.000 start in flyball! (always get so so close :p) Remain fit and healthy Jovi Ch. Sherbrooke Living On A Prayer ADX JDX GD RA FM Jovi has one goal this year, to have a safe uncomplicated pregnancy and birth of at least one girl puppy thank you :p I will probably end up accomplishing nothing in regards to the boys as, if all going according to plan Jovi will take up alot of time and money from March onwards  Spoilt little bitch :p
  12. Well done TSD! We had our very first go at masters agility and she had tonnes of fun in the first run, didn't get a fairly hard weave entry but watching the more experienced handlers I would have handled it much differently so put that one in the learnt basket! Had a couple of fast master jumping runs but silly handling errors again! Second agility run and she basically walked the course, we went clear but over time. Thinking back as soon as she just jogged along the dog walk which was the second obstacle straight after a jump, I should have just ran her home. She does running contacts and did stunning contacts in the morning run so it should have twigged then I knew she was a little over it and was doing my pre run razz up which got me a faster dog in the earlier runs but due to a few scratchings went in earlier than expected Oops We packed up and came home after that  That is possibly our last trial for awhile, there is an afternoon single trial in February (I think) next year I might do, but then we are out as hopefully we will have Jovi puppies :D So very proud of my beautiful little girl, been trialling for just over a year and in between seasons, other sports and a handler who had the worst handling skills (still working on this!), managed to get into masters already :)
  13. I wouldn't have corrected either. I have a dog here who is fairly intolerant of rude in your face dogs, she doesn't like them at all and is quick to tell them to get out of her space. I appreciate the fact that she has several levels of warnings and it's because I've never told her off before for showing them too me. Regarding the instructor, hell no, no one touches my dogs in a negative manner.
  14. I haven't had a litter yet, but am planning my first next year and have already received heaps of emails even though I've stated I am not taking any names yet. I won't be keeping a wait list, like others I will be leaving it up to the buyer to keep contacting if they are that interested. With Tollers there is definately no shortage of (good) homes and generally people are waiting 2 years for a pup so alot of people would probably not be interested after awhile.
  15. Nova Complete his neuter title Don't think I entered any shows this year! Oops Enter at least one tracking trial As above, didn't get around too it Maybe give Rally a go Have done this! 2 Passes in novice, one was a first place as well! Most of Darcys are carried over from last year Darcy ADX Only entered him in 2 trials this year so no luck with this, next year maybe  JDX FM Done RN Done, actually got his RA as well. Jovi ADX Done JDM GDX SPD SD FM Done, not bad considering she only started competing last year! RN Also got her RA ET and planning on her having her first litter in among all that too! Got a few things achieved this year, was pretty hard as most things clashed. I only entered Jovi in one games class, as had been focusing on getting her ADX. Only one agility and flyball comp left for the year. Next year will be pretty quiet for us as Jovi will be having puppies *fingers crossed!*
  16. They may look like smaller versions of Goldens but they are definately not. Tollers are more like BC's in terms of intelligence and exercise levels than Goldens plus they also come with a pretty high prey drive, so if your BC's aren't suited than neither are Tollers IMO. Tollers are pretty reserved too (generally), two of mine will basically ignore other people. They are friendly but could really care less about people outside their family. My girl is becoming a bit more social as she is getting older, but with her dad I apologise to people in advance not to get offended. People will show him their hand to sniff or speak to him trying to get his attention and he will literally turn his head the other way and ignore them  However with a very few select people, he is the most sweetest, lovable, daggiest dog ever  They have a thick double coat, so everything I own (and eat and drink) now comes with complimentary red fur :) Ohh yes the scream  Quite an interesting experience hearing it, fortunately mine only do it swimming and lure coursing but it does sound like I am killing them rather than them being extremely excited!
  17. Well done everyone on their brags this weekend! My guys are spoiling me lately, but Jovi gained her last pass required for her ADX and with a 1st place as well :D Very proud of her, onto Masters we go! :D
  18. I did the poll for the worst dog, he was my first dog and was an aggressive little s**t. He ended up being put to sleep after years of biting people, the final straw was that he actually attacked me, bit me on my face, enough that required several stiches and I now have a scar from it :/ Honestly he should have been put to sleep after the first time he bit someone. He was very head strong, very dominant and had a naive 10 year old owner. Not a good combination. None of my current 3 dogs have ever given me any reason to be concerned about being potentially bitten, and because of my experience, I did/do push them a fair bit to know their limits.
  19. Oops completely forgot, I actually have an agility trial this weekend bugger it Next time though!
  20. I will most likely be there with my 2 Tollers if the weather is nice :)
  21. <br /><br /><br />Well done TO - the winning was the icing on the cake - the rest was all plain fun Most definately, it was my favourite ever comp just because it was so much fun! Everyone was lovely and seemed to enjoy themselves, helped that the weather was excellent as well.
  22. Another flyball Nationals over and done with, and we came home with a first (Div 8) and second (Div 2) placings. Makes it even more special is it was Darcys last nationals as I won't be going next year and he will be 11 when the next one is on, so I was thrilled when his team won :) Very proud of my guys, they ran hard all weekend and had to put up with my unusual disgustingly bad starts! LOL Only I can double false start a few times but also triple false start in the run off for first place lmao I was either spot on and just plain bad, never anything in between :p Was an awesome weekend, we all had tonnes of fun and I don't think I stopped laughing or smiling all weekend :D
  23. The yorkie is such a stunning little goer! Love watching her runs. The bigger maremma x is part my little group of triallers, some of the tunnels you can really see her through, it's amazing she fits sometimes! I had the tiny little Toller in the 400 excellent class who looked like she wasn't trained at all lmao, to be far too her she had nearly a 3 hour break between runs and she was a little excited  You did a great job :) Roger is a lovely judge :)
  24. Whoo hoo!!! Well done DD and Elsie! Awesome result :D
  25. Bit of a brag!! Had a double rally trial today and my guys blew me away. Had all three entered, 2 in advance and 1 in novice. Darcy came 1st in advance in the morning with 93, with Jovi placing 2nd with 89 in the same class! Nova decided when a dog's gotta go a dogs gotta go, and eliminated in the ring :/ Oops, that's what I get from running from ring to ring! Poor boy didn't have a chance to properly toilet In the afternoon trial it was hot and windy, so I thought they would all be off in lala land but nope! Jovi came out firing and won the ring with 93, and nipping at her little white socks was Darcy also getting 93 and placed 2nd on a countback on time :D Not to be out done, old boy Nova decided not to be the odd one out and worked his butt off, getting a score of 91 and also a 1st place!! So out of a potential 4 possible 1st places, my guys took home 3 as well as 2 2nds in the same classes :D Not only that Darcy and Jovi achieved their titles today as well :D So proud of my guys, they try their very best and they had a blast, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as they looked so happy :D
