How much do you want to spend? My list in increasing price: Canon 1000D Canon 450D Canon 40D Canon 50D Canon 5D Mark II Canon 1Ds Mark III I own a 40D. The 50D is currently probably the 'enthusiasts" sweet spot. The 5D MK II is next on my shopping list. The 1Ds MK III is a little pricey for me. OMG i would sincerly love the 1Ds Mark III (my dream lotto camera ) But alas i have a Canon 400D and will be upgrading to the 50D over the xmas period (i hope with a 70-200 f2.8 USM L Lens), but as they say the camera is only part of the deal it is the lenses that do it justice I can say maybe a good idea is work out what you want to spend then go into a camera store and actually get a feel for the cameras themselves, this can play a big part in buying i found the nikon a little bulky for my hands and some find the canon a little small.

Two of my borders are nortorious for this as they tend to slide, i dont wrap (i woud be going through a tone of it otherwise) so now i ask them to wait throw the ball then let them go reduces the amount they graze, also usually on flat ground they are pretty good it is only the slopey ground and gravelly areas they are not so. Worst injury i saw was when the hock was ripped not grazed but salty water, and betadine fixed that I guess you could try some vet wrap or something, and put some sort of padding under it???? Not sure what else you could try.

Interesting - the guys at the store said to put the sides up to stop the wind from coming in and getting underneath Either way - I think I'm going the Gazebo After the damage that i saw at the nats i would never put the sides up again in conditions like that, the wind got in and couldnt get out so created a balloon type effect up and airborne.....wasnt good when two of them crashed into the dog crates with dogs in them . When you are fighting these things against your legs to rescue dogs you think twice about using all sides. We also went to Bathurst and a friend and i (ours survived the nats) put these up and we had some rather wild and windy conditions on the saturday, her sides where up (mine wernt as my dog trailer was underneathe mine) and her gazebo was being hammered we removed the sides and much much better Sides are good when it is windy (but not super strong wind) but not all sides up at once and always good to monitor the conditions, i usually use my sides for rain and or sun. I have found the Mesh type tarps you can buy from clean run are wanderful as the wind goes through them and they are brilliant for keeping the extreme sun out. I wouldnt change my compact for anything but i have become wiser in what i use with it in certain conditions.

I love my compact oztrail, and agree when windy i dont ever put sides up, when we were at the agility nationals in August this year we had 4 compacts set up, all pegged and secured, when the storm hit we lost 2/4 (completed trashed) along with another large borrowed heavy duty gazebo, part of the problem was these had sides up so the wind got in underneath. But apart from that i wouldnt part with my gazebo for anything !

good cheap mats or beds for crates, i knwo there are hession ones but they tear rather easily......i have one dog that lurves to dig his bed, to the point of coming home and there is just a sea of foam .

I usually use what we win, so Advance, Royal Canin, and cant remember the third one. LAsts me forever as i dont usually feed dry, so months. Havnt bought dry food for a very long time (still have a cupboard full of the stuff). If i do have to buy it then i buy 20kg bags. Altho i dont feed one of my BCs on it as it doesnt agree with him

It was funny cause i am usually super hopeless at these type of shots so i set a phone book up on my verandah railing and balanced the camera to shoot across the mountains (i am lucky and live on a property) but i was amazed by some of these i also like the first one reminds me of a fist. It was also a great storm that produced a ton of lightening

least you got it checked out, hope he comes good.

YEp they are the ones given the dry conditions the grass seeds are notoriously bad at the moment, can get all sorts, arrowheads, spirally ones, little ones that have fluffy bits on top, and you dont know they are in till it is usually too late
-
Maybe a bee sting or a grass seed ???? I know one of my guys tried to eat a bee but came out worse for wear ....keep an eye on it and maybe get it checked out

I am also a lover of clouds and these are some i took a while go, camera is a canon 400d, lens 70-300 f4.5-6 IS USM and some lightning strikes lighting up clouds - lens 18-55 IS

It is interesting to hear about the f4 USM vs f2.8 USM food for thought. I want it mainly for portraits and low light. However given some of these photos with the f4 they are very nice indeed. These are 2 shots i took a few days ago of one of my guys

Wow those shots are superb, i was looking at the 70-200 f2.8 L USM (again i cant afford to add the IS to it ). I currently use a 75-300 f4-5.6 IS USM telephoto for photographing agility which is is good when there is light but doesnt cope too well when lighting isnt as great. Am hoping to invest in the L lens with the new canon 50d might have to be my new xmas pressie !!!!
