  1. No longer with us but my grandmother had a stumpy tail cattle dog that was her working dog, she was a stockman at the meatworks. Shorty was born a year after me and when I was around he was my dog wouldnt listen to anyone else he lived to be 22.5. God I miss that dog.
  2. The dog pavilion has 2 benching areas - an upstairs one and a downstairs one (where the rings are). Everything is totally indoors. Each breed is allocated a benching area so you don't have any say about where you'll be for the day. As mentioned already, the toileting area is abysmal, it is just a big concrete room basically. And you have to wrestle your way through the public to get there. Umm that's all I can think of for now. +1 Miss B are you going with the boys?
  3. Are you bringing the Xolo's over to QLD for the EKKA??? Oh Oh when are they on?? I want to come say hello to them, I have been fascinated since they were first mentioned.
  4. Luscious Leads are as accomadating, and colours with bling or without and any length! Think I talked myself into rdering another one!!
  5. Wow remember seeing pics when you got her, she has grown up beautiful!! A credit to your care and her breeder!!
  6. Wanting to buy a PP20 or a PP40 the airline approved type. Wanting to find the cheapest place. Any suggestions? Also wanting to fin the out of the ordinary coloured ones??
  7. Hi PLG2010 welcome to DOL. I will try and help you and I'm sure if i forget anything someone else will answer what i forget. To show a dog in australia it varies from state to state. In QLD it is 10 yrs old In NSW it is 7yrs old. Other states I dont know sorry. You must also be a member of your states controlling body. To get into showing you need to be a member of your states controlling body, Dogs Vic, Dogs Qld etc. Once you know what breed you want to show go about finding an ETHICAL REGISTERED breeder build a good relationship with them and if you want to show someone that is nearby is always handy as they can be at shows to guide you. And yes by all mean you need a good quality dog to show it. A puppy must be 3 months old to be shown and of course must be registered with the state controlling body. Umm cant think of anything else at the moment
  8. There is another one in Maryborough that allows the dogs in the rooms as long as they are in crates or trolley. Trying to think of the name of it ..........
  9. This seems like a rather petty comment to make I hope I'm wrong. I put it up there originally as someone asked about leads and I love my Luscious Leads! Where does Warley say say "Ellz do you know what your doing?" Warleys comment wasnt aimed at you or anyone in particular for that matter. I know I myself had brought one leather lead before I started using Luscious Leads and it fell apart really quickly. And also Luscious Leads has bling ;) Love bling on my leads
  10. 2 more Luscious leads just cause I love them!
  11. Luscious Leads!! They are FANTASTIC!! http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/lusci...124528260891007 Here are some Luscious leads. *No Luscious isnt me but it is another DOLer, but I do LOVE LOVE LOVE there leads. This is just 2 leads. Luscious can also do basically any style lead including with a clip, martingale and slip styles.
  12. A lot of places will give these people "papers" which of course are bullshit papers that they printed up on there computer themselves.
  13. Sorry to hear about your mums birds, and the owner doen the right thing. Don't worry about breed bashing, i'd fully expect my dogs to chase birds along with about 80% of the dog population of the world, let alone all the cats that continue to kill our native fauna. I'm not so sure we'll be able to take every natural instinct away from our domestic animals. I'm not saying we should take away any natural instinct from any breed of dog, the breed I am going into is still very primitive and basically havent changed. But it shouldnt be instinct for any dog to go into someones elses backyard and attack caged birds! But like i said the owners of the dogs were so so great!!
  14. Would love to be in this but sadly I am not arty crafty at all I havent posted for ages but come in daily, for updates. Is there room on the couch for me?? I'll bring hot chocolate with me and also the new copies of the Dog News Australia and also Dog Show Scene Quarterly!
  15. REALLY!! I am an Ipswich resident and would love to enlighten him on a few things regarding dogs in the Ipswich city council region!! Starting with the 2 dogs that attacjed and killed my mothers birds. Wont mention the breeds as I will be accused of breed bashing but I will say bravo to the owners that actually had the balls to go up to my parents place and apologise and offer to pay for everything and anything as a way of apologising (only a young guy (maybe 22ish) and his wife, the guy even offered to mow my parents lawn to try and say sorry (sweet in a way), the council have been fantastic with it especially the ranger/ officer handling the case. Same officer in ICC handling a different case not such a good outcome. Older lady walking her little fluffy on lead (does this every afternoon) and 2 dogs (labradors) come racing out of a yard and attacked her little fluufy, the little fluffy ended up with 121 stitches. It cost the old lady I think it was $900 in vet bills (I could be wrong though). All the old lady owner wants from the Labs owner is that they pay her vet bill (she had to borrow the money). There are 2 witnesses that seen this happen. Council officer/ ranger went and spoke to the Labs owners and they said that it wasnt there dogs and theres no dogs so nothing has been done about it and yes both witness's have made formal written statements. Ok off my soap box now.
  16. Funniest shopping trip I've ever been on in my life.... when he started sorting through the clothes in the maternity section I really got worried!!! :) You really do see all sorts in KMart at 9.45 on a Friday night.... ;) it was an eye-opener! It's official though, WA is the most backward state in Australia, we only have late night shopping on Thursdays and aside from then, everything else is shut at 6pm Oh, I also have some pics coming of Tassie's lovely boy Rory, was happy I got to have cuddles with him So do I post Hounders pic or wait till she announces it officially??? ;) Nope!! QLD only has late night shopping on thursday nights. In the city areas woolies is open until 9pm weekday, 5pm saturday and 6pm sunday. Country areas (noy even way out in the country only 30 mins from city) woolies isnt even open AT ALL on a sunday.
  17. Thanks for bumping this Steve! Jed you need to come home to Chi Chi!
  18. You've only been a member of DOL yourself for a month! And whilst yes it is frowned upon buying a dog (or any animal) from a pet shop doesnt make the request BS! It very well could be but again who are we to judge unless we have eveidence as backup! It could be that the OP'er has been reading DOL for a while or that they have never read it. At the end of the day coming onto DOL and ask for advice is so much better than just dumping it at the pound or just dumping it full stop. To the OPer contact some of those links that Jaxx's buddy posted. Good job Jaxx's buddy. Aziah I'll pm you so as not to derail thread.
  19. Just because the OP hasnt mentioned it, doesnt mean its not the case doesnt mean it is but it comes down to not everyone has to tell DOLers every thing.
  20. Yep even up in QLD in the 80's at Durack a normal size show was 1600 to 1800 odd entries! and an international judge weekend would get 2200 odd entries. These days a normal Duarck show has maybe 600 entries, and an international judge weekend might get 1200 to 1500!
  21. Thanks for the replies everyone! It was purely a hypothetical question!!
