LOL, Steve. Marketers will use any ploy they think will work. I think you should tell us who that vet is so we can all write in protest. For a vet to say something like that ...... well it beggars belief really. It just goes to show so little undertstanding of what dog ownership (and I know there are people who object to that terminology as well :) :) ) entails and will add to even more problems with integrating dogs as dogs into a community. Yeah I know still annoys me though. Makes me turn off so what ever comes next is lost.

I dont care what an owner calls them - its only when someone assumes that their marketing calling them that to me is a good thing that annoys me.

Limited register was supposed to be about protecting the breed from bad genes not protecting the breed from breeders who may breed your dogs. The betterment of the breed is about diversity of genes and people who will select with different criteria and motivations. Queensland doesn't get a double dip - the breeder puts the rego of the pup into the new owners name and main rego costs more so they wont loose any money but rather gain money if they stick to making all breeders register every pup so they are motivated to take a better look at the impact of limited register than any other state. However - lets not forget that pre limited register we didnt have to give people a registered pedigree original - we could give a copy of the original or we could decide not to register them at all. So pre limited register they didn't really have a clue who was breeding puppies that they didnt register or who was breeding a back to back litter or Mum to son etc and they have determined this is something they need to regulate so the general public see us as a better source of pet puppies. i agree that introduction of the limited register has not been good for the breeds, not because we breed more puppies we don't want to be used for breeding but because that coupled with numerous other things influenced by animal rights created the culture we now see where in some breeds a core group of breeders dictate what dogs will be bred and who can own them - where it has become so hard for people to purchase a dog they may use for breeding registered puppies that they breed them without papers or have to start with less than ideal dogs not good for the breeds but perceived to protect bloodlines from bad people who might breed them. Remove limited register and keep the requirement to provide registered pedigree originals to every puppy buyer and that equals more money at point of sale and potentially more members and more people breeding dogs with papers = more numbers and more money money money money. Simple in other states give them a copy of the pedigree and never an opportunity to be able to transfer the dog into their name on the registry because they wont get the original - queensland cant see you winning there. Money and how it looks to the nutters will win.

Remember that skin problems are not just skin deep so part of what you do must be about what is going on inside. That is diet, allergy or auto immune dysfunction. Calendula can do the job but because the skin is really inflammed and not just all over itchy you can add some other herbs which will accelerate the healing process and help inhibit bacterial infection without irritating the skin or interfering with the activities of beneficial microbes and ecto parasites – the friendly bugs that help keep the skin healthy. If you say who you are when you order the Calendula Ill throw in a blend of Lavender[Augustifolia] organic peppermint and organic sage] for you to add to the Calendula for you to give a go to target the hot spots. Combine one part of the herb mix to 4 times the Calendula and place into a glass or stainless pot.Not Aluminium. Cover with water and bring to a gentle boil over moderate heat. Excuse the ignorance. It is a juice and you mix it in with their food? ETA: i though aloe vera was toxic to dogs? No Aloe Vera juice isnt toxic to dogs given in the correct amounts - even an overdose only causes runny poos and yes you give it to them with food. If they eat the plant then that can make them sick . Ive been giving it to my dogs and watching others use it for about 30 years now. Edited to add If you can find a book called Aloe Vera Natures Gift - Aloe Vera in veterinary Practice Written by a Vet David Urch its full of great info and suggested dosages etc.

The Aloe Juice you can get anywhere - supermarkets ,chemists helath food stores and its just neat Aloe Vera - the Napolea is another type of cactus juice but has lots of extra juices such as beets etc included. Google will find it for you - Ive seen the most miraculous things with them in people and dogs.

Take a long look at why you are using the interceptor and whether you really need it - I dont think you do.

Diet looks pretty good - any heartworm meds ? Does he sleep inside or outside?

Would be better if you go a diagnosis with a vet first but no matter what it is including mites it's still about his immune system .if you put some AC Vinegar on a cotton ball and wipe it over the area where the fur is missing - being careful not to get it into his eyes of course then you should be able to see if there are any mites on the cotton ball under a good magnifying glass. If there isn't any broke skin if this were my dog I would mix one third of a cup of vinegar in 4 cups of water - then systematically apply the liquid with a sauce type bottle - when he is dry I would do the same with calendula tea. Consider what he is eating and what his diet might need to improve his immune system and take a good look at what he may be exposed to re chemicals and stress in the environment too. Oh yes how are his ears?

Tell me exactly what you are dealing with, is there any broken skin? Are there areas that are more affected or is it all over|?

Well they all do different things and work in different ways and none of them can do any harm. The ACV will kill the mites and make the skin yukky to them if you put it on the skin and if you feed it, the calendula will sooth any symptoms caused by the biting and the protexin will provide good bacteria. All of them will help build the immune system if you feed them too. End result a healthier immune system so more resistance and an easing of itchiness.
