  1. well I looked through 24 pages and didn't see one pic of a tin of alphabeti spagheti titled S for smartass! Did anyone do it in the remaining 8 pages or am I going to have to go to coles tomorrow?
  2. I think they are trying to get interest in a club around the pine rivers area too.
  3. I went along to the club day on the 1/3/09 and have to say it was great fun! If anyone is interested and in the area you should definitely check it out
  4. found this: "Freezing prolongs storage time because it prevents microbial growth. Recommended storage times relate to eating quality more than food safety. After a certain period of time, frozen food starts to dry out, so the small the item of food the faster the effect. That's why, for example it's recommended to freeze mince for up to 3 months, and roasts up to 6 months. Beyond this time, the meat will be safe to eat but will be very dry." so you should be fine and dandy!
  5. I've found the tins at both coles and wollies at chermside and toombul/nundah huski! Got some from coles Chermside today in fact, also pink and red salmon.
  6. Raw egg and shells which some swear by did not agree with Boo and I found sardines resulted in the most foul fishy farts but mackeral fillets, salmon, tuna or the odd fish oil tablet (just squeeze the contents over the barf) goes down a treat. originally his breeder fed a rotation of VIP chicken roll, raw chicken or steak, scrambled eggs and the half a milk arrowroot biscuit so that is what he started off with before transitioning.
  7. hiya, we raised our cav on BARF and found we had no probs at all, from memory I think we did the following rotation: DAY 1: Breakfast - barf patty Lunch - small amunt scrambled egg and half a milk arrowroot biscuit dinner - chicken neck DAY 2: Breakfast - barf patty (different flavour than day 1) lunch - small amount raw free range chicken and small amount of puppy milk Dinner - chicken neck lunch got weaned off as he got older but we continue to feed two meals a day. hope that helps at all ;)
  8. might be a good idea to ask for vet recommendations in your area so you can get a second oppinion, in the mean time, try to keep him quiet, confining him to a small area where there is nothing he might be tempted to climb/jump on (like the couch) might be a good start.
  9. that is great M! It's confusing sometimes to wade through conflicting advice but you've got a great source of dependable knowledge there Our puppy preschool recommended no tug of war until they knew the "leave it" command, IMO it's an invaluable command to teach!
  10. what a good idea! I've always wanted to see if anyone has the prefix "Dagwood" as in dagwood dogs
  11. conskimo - ha! There are a few of us close by around here Lesley - I'd be a bit hesitant to use something like that. Boxerbob - yes I know that one! in any case I ran out of time to get it done ;) But will eep it in mind for the future!
  12. oh hell no! I had one try at the food dye for the million paws walk and after one paw paniced and washed it out
  13. there are a few of us! Get your bum into the social events forum and check out the brissy meets
  14. Hi all we have a fundraising event next weekend and I'm thinking about getting the Boo-dawg dyed blue to match his promo jacket so I'm looking for groomers who offer dye-ing! We are in Clayfield if that helps!
  15. I love seeing dyed dogs! It's fun and plenty of dogs just enjoy the attention I haven't had Boo dyed, purely because I just think his colouring doesn't lend itself to making the dye job look good.
  16. you can buy pet wipes togive them a quick spruce, but if you were to be using these daily I'm not sure if it might cause an issue. Maybe see if you can find some specifically gentle ones and try to avoid the skin? Alternatively - a damp cloth, just with water on it, and a spray once a week with a decent quality pet perfume. Come to think of it - plush puppy have an odour control spray that smells really good but isn't harsh!
  17. Ta, will give it a go. Will probably need OH's help as Boo has decided he is not the biggest fan of grooming but I am loath to chop them out. did the trick! Was SO much easier to work them out once spliced We are mat free again thank goodness!
  18. cornflour hey? I would have thought it would just add to the trouble
  19. You will simply have to teach him to accept grooming then, or eventually accept the bare bum look. Spray the matts with conditioner spray, then work them out with your fingers or slice through them from the base out to divide them up then comb them out. oddly he used to quite enjoy it, but recently as I mentioned has been wanting to bugger off rather than be brushed. I think to a certain extent I pandered to it (by just doing short sessions at a time, letting him run off and the going back again later in the day to do more)and this has meant he's continued to not want to keep still but I toughened up this round and, low and behold - he figured out it wasn't on and all but went to bloody sleep while I got the few mats out then gave him his usual overall brush Conditioning spray is a good suggestion - will keep that in mind for the future (although I rather hope we get no more itchies!)
  20. It just never grows back the same though, and while he's not a show dog I prefer to keep his coat as natural as possible - clipped cavs just look wrong to me
  21. I wish I could give you all the answers you need but the only thing I feel confident to reply on is that yes it is important you start getting you dogs used to time apart. Walking individually, maybe individual outings, one inside and one outside with a bone or other fun activity/treat. Big big hugs to your family though, it's a distressing situation to be in and all of us dread losing our beloved pets when the time comes. Maybe sit down with the kids and talk about it - try and work out a goodbye ritual for when the time comes, and plan a way to mourn her passing as well as remember all the good times. Grief is a hard thing for adults but especially kids.
  22. Ta, will give it a go. Will probably need OH's help as Boo has decided he is not the biggest fan of grooming but I am loath to chop them out.
  23. already done, he's slightly alergic to the enzime washing detergent I had bought to clean up...er "presents" left on the tiles. And yes we've been to the vet as when I first got it and was using it frequently he was quite an itchy boy and we didn't make the connection straight away. Haven't used it since and he's had no other itchy episodes until OH helpfully cleaned up a "present" and forgot not to use it.
  24. Boo is giving himself mats when itching his back legs but HATES me untangling them, is there something I can use to make it easier to get them out or should I A. persist even though he loathes it or B. resort to chopping them off?
