  1. I was just thinking of your reply to this when the email notification came through bugger bec :D I don't think it's been decided though yet I think we ought to duke it out (that was the best "fight, fight, fight" emoticon I could find, it has a knife lol)
  2. Lotus 2/52 - "I'm a yellow labrador" (probably should mention, I plan on making a story book with the photos, but do it as I go, so I don't have to think it all up at the end, Helen, you helped with the development of this idea so the titles are the story ) Chester 2/52 - "I'm a happy boy" I almost went with this one, I just love the look of it
  3. great photos everyone!!! frodo - that rose is quite stunning redangel - I like the focus on spidey's eyes! kirislin - nice macro too zenith - 12th is interesting ... is that a double exposure? how did you do it? great sky photos too guys I must admit huga, I had no idea there was anything there, found it now 12th - Texas in black feather boa
  4. Happy Birthday Riley! :D looking good for 10 ;) ish: I liked your first crop (never got back around to that thread, sorry, I did give it a go, but couldn't seem to get it right either) but I think what you've done here works well too poor Spencer, hope he feels better soon! Tali is so cute, I love her scruffy fur ;) Poppy is funny ... so obvious "throw the ball!!!!" Paris is looking lovely as always Spot and Peggy look great at the cross-roads - cool idea too! What a beautiful bunch of dogs this year oh and I forgot to add flickr links: Lotus and Chester
  5. thanks a million all he's still really good within himself, though the progress of those lumps are worrying. Has anyone heard of the idea that if you have cancer and interfere with it (as in a biopsy) that it "wakes-up and goes to town" or escalates, I've heard this from a couple of people and I feel this maybe going on ... of course, there's no way to tell ... and I'm still astounded at how well he's feeling water features prominently in my favourite photos of him I've posted this one before for sure his funny pre-emptive excited play-bow and his cute bark you may have seen this one too: his barking video ... oh man, I haven't watched that in a while, it really makes me smile
  6. to be honest that particular weekend really doesn't work for me that well, after a little investigation it is looking a great deal more difficult to wrangle than normal ... Friday works a whole lot better for me??? not sure what others think about that though?
  7. bjelkier - love your 11.1.11 10th - Texas keeping his wet toys company out in the rain 11th - photo of an old photo on my fridge
  8. 1/52 - My name is Lotus and Chester 1/52 - My name is Chester :D
  9. loving all the work everyone, just so great!!! exactly :D keep going back to your shot Dust Angel "heartbeat at my feet" love it ;) kirislin @ corn chip dreams kja: takes a bit of eye-contortionism to get your contender for the "worst photo of the challenge" ... I like :D ----- a bit of catching up for me ... all a little boring, as I'm keeping Texas as my focus and it sure is a challenge to do something different with him 6th - I had to lay in wait for this ;) 7th - if I sit down he comes over real close and lies right next to me 8th (today) - all eyes on the ball which is going from Lotus to Jamie, all right under his nose
  10. cool! I probably won't have the weekend off work, but let us know which date and I should be able to wangle something
  11. thanks all mim - yeh, me too, I've always liked Maverick redangel - thanks I really gave the idea a good think because I do believe that dogs don't really comprehend (or miss) a loss of limb as much as we feel horrible for them ... and I would definitely go ahead if he were a few years younger and generally fitter than he is. In spirit he's doing amazing. He doesn't whinge or whine. as far as having lots of photos of him go, I found I had barely any photos of my first dog who died early, and vowed to change that when I got Texas, I have a lot of snapshots his teeth I used to worry about and stopped leaving the tennis ball in the yard, now it's free for all, same with playing fetch, because of his arthritis I basically cut out all fetch games in the yard for him, now I throw for Lotus (mostly) and Jamie, Texas gets to join in, though obviously in a less energetic way, he's still enthusiastic and I'm careful, but I'll let him get it at least once in a short session, I can't deny him the things he loves now going through photobucket ... some really bad quality photos showing off his tricks this next one is a scanned fav, I have it on my fridge and back to more recent times ... I took them all to the beach before he was scheduled for x-rays and biopsy knowing I wouldn't get a chance to get back there too soon (I'm sure there'll be a beach trip sometime this month) ... a couple of favs actually there was 2 beach trips in 2 weeks ...
  12. I'm a little unsure of starting this thread Texas was diagnosed late last year (about a month ago) with a sarcoma, most likely synovial sarcoma. It started with a lump in his right rear hock, an earlier (July) vet visit revealed joint fluid build-up via a fine needle aspiration, and was assumed to be a result of on-going arthritis, when the lump became noticeably larger and softer and nobblier we did x-rays and biopsy, by this stage there was already spread to his lymph node, as indicated by a small lump in the back of the knee on the same leg and another lump on the flat of his thigh. He is going to turn 14 years old in mid-Feb. The most successful treatment for this kind of sarcoma is to remove the whole leg. I have thought about this, and have decided against it due to his age and arthritis which he has in every joint. His front legs would not be able to bare his weight, and with a probable prolonged recovery period, I just want him to be happy in his last days, you know? I want to share some old, new and favourite shots of the old boy, and knowing there are some people on dol who have met and like him, I thought I should do it before he goes, and share here in the photos forum, as I rarely go anywhere else. At the moment he hasn't really changed a great deal, he is still a happy bouncy-at-dinner-time kinda fella, he sleeps a lot, doesn't get out for walks anywhere near as much as he used to, and they take 5 times longer, yet he's still very much got that sparkle, and owns all the toys. ... to start a couple of old photos as a gangly puppy, probably the first week of bringing him home from the RSPCA, maybe 4 months old he had a difficult start, a few months after coming home he had lost all the fur on his back, and half-way down his tail, had nasty elephantine skin around his muzzle and was constantly itching etc ... he was allergy tested and required allergen injections for a few years ... but was completely cured of that thankfully :D in his hey-day, approx. 3 years old, the greatest ball retrieving team (with Jamie-girl) - these 2 were fit! I may be able to find some photos between then and 2008, but for now, here's just a few favs from more recent times at the beach! thoughtful boy but oh so silly and since I'm concentrating on trying to get the Jan photo-a-day with him, some outtakes proud as ever ... and still very much the owner of all toys in the yard, and that special love of tennis balls hasn't faded that's enough for now ... I'm hoping to keep this updated for at least January ... if that's okay ...
  13. great shots from everyone again, I'm particularly enjoying the kitty cat pics 4th Chester's been getting in the way in a lot of my shots of Texas ... I reckon he misses the limelight ... more likely the treats that go with it ;) and today, 5th, Texas was particularly uninterested today *edit decided I didn't like the other pic, so changed it* and looking a little sad
  14. wow! I'm loving seeing what everyone's coming up with, such a great variety I've not done this shot with Texas, so gave it a go this afternoon
  15. I got excited when I saw another January photo-a-day challenge ... so tired, had plans on going to bed early, and work again tomorrow, but couldn't resist joining in, so grabbed the camera for a very quick play outside 01 - Texas' thoughts on another new year
  16. helen - mine all got one of those toy each for Christmas, Lotus' is looking a little worse for wear already How cute is Akira while looking at Halo puppy pics huga - love Lola sitting under the Christmas tree, nice colours and focus - will miss seeing her every week tlc - I'll miss seeing Cooper too, but it will be cool to see Bronson (?) next year 52/52 - handing over the reigns from Jamie to Lotus "sit back and relax Jamie, get ready to work it Lotes" :D thanks for the thoughts for Texas, I keep meaning to start a thread for him while he's still happy, as I know there's a few people on DOL who admire him ... I'm just not sure how to start but I will soon ... oh and this little red wagon was purchased for him, to get him to the park and back, so he can get out of the yard without the long walk (though it's reallly only short, it's slow going for him) ... it's missing some rear brackets, bought it off the 'net, hoping to get them in the 1st week of Jan, his trial run looked very promising!!!
  17. great to see so many more faces for 2011!! gotta say James looks like an absolute darling
  18. I'd like to join in again this year, hoping it will be a lot more fun than last year as I've chosen Lotus the crazy labrador for the focus, maybe with a side of Chester (that I promised last year, but never followed through with) ... Jamie was really not much fun for me, I'm so glad I did the project as I have some great photos that I wouldn't have if I hadn't, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, she saps me dry Looking forward to seeing what others come up with through the year and I'll add my flickr set link after the first photo if that's alright?
  19. so loving all your favs!! too hard to decide of all my photos taken this year, so I've chosen my fav 3 of the 4 pack together cheers
  20. I found out Texas has a sarcoma in his hock, which has spread to his lymph and he also has another lump on the flat of his thigh, not good new and Chester got some neck/shoulder injury not sure how but he was in terrible pain late last week - he has improved greatly ... Jamie's 51/52 - Merry Christmas from the Jamie-reindeer
