Gees there was no need to break land speed records rushing home to beat Rubystar to the brags thread...... Hmm maybe she is out celebrating without me.......... Bedazzled is Rubystar with you drinking bubbles again
-
Puff puff pant pant - running in here to be first to tell everybody Rubystar has a BIG brag from this afternoons trial. YEE Har Well done mate pssst - thanks again Rubystar for waving your magic in the stays with Beans
-
Woo Hoo what an effort gees this time last year you didn't think you would ever get him in the trial ring. Top effort Terranik + Jedi Agility dogs you are having a terrific run at the moment - well done - now tell me the secret how come you got to go back and run novice courses TSD - do you think giving the kids a rest helps???
-
My occassionally clever dog managed a 3 minute sit stay today and that was even after his UD stays. Needless to say he was very well rewarded ;) Good boy Moo My occassionally clever dog also stood in the second box - shaking my head - now how many times have I rewarded that NEVER! It was crappy weather for trialling

A bumper is a good idea How did you teach the retrieve or specifically the pick up and is it only the dumbbell he is hesitant on? If you were to throw the bumper and tell him to get it would he do the same thing? Does your hand being on the dumbbell have anything to do with the problem do you think?

Have you tried lowering the ramp? - so putting the up end on the table so its less of an incline?
-
The Rubystar dog to Amypie dog ratio is currently 2:1 which means you hog more :D I still reckon no ramps at all for a few weeks/ a month then try again slowly, backchaining it. She doesn't seem too bothered going down the ramp, it's the going up it that freaks her out. Sometimes it would be nice if they could talk hey, or at least understand what we tell them I wonder if I took her and tried whether I would get the same result - or whether she would be her normal bouncy self and would get over it quicker. I guess I am asking if you are perhaps part of the problem :D
-
Hmm note to self to pack rainjackets for tomorrow - just in case any of the kids are on a pass and need to do stays

Hi there - do you intend on competing with your boy? In theory there is no reason why you can't teach him to hold a dumbbell while walking around a foot stool BUT you may find that bad habits develop like him dropping his head or the dumbbell which of course could cause problems further down the line. If it was me - I wouldn't be using a dumbbell, but I would consider using something else like a toy. If you are after things to teach him to keep his mind active and trying to keep movement to a minimum - have you thought about scent, or sitting in a hula hoop, or climbing into a box, or speak on command (hmm maybe not), or finding something you hide in the house...... Others might be able to come up with more suggestions. Good luck

Normal reaction to Hills ZD at our place !! Vets seem to push this but it doesn't seem to work my lot. Really? I am glad that I am not the only one who seems to have this problem! Instead of trying all this commercial food I would rather try raw or something that is prepared here at home, I liked Holistic Select as it had the least amount of 'unatural' things in for a dry kibble. I guess the question you need to ask yourself is do you think Mason has a food allergy, up until now you have always thought that it was environmental. If you are unsure or say yes - then you need to work out what it is he is allergic to and the only way to do that is through the elimination diet and you have to be really strict. But at least at the end of it you would have a list of foods that he can and can't eat.

They are having a Toller Breed feature this year and I believe about 40 tollers are entered between the show ring, agility and obedience -
Seita - I have been meaning to ask you - do you ask the judges permission when you enter the ring to use commands in German? 7. EXHIBITORS AND HANDLERS Additional Commands: If a Judge considers that, but for an additional command the dog would not have performed the Principal Feature of the exercise, it will receive a non-quailfying score. Change of Speed: The dog will show three distinct speeds. During the heeling routine the dog will show a slow, normal and fast speed. The speed will be in proportion to the size and build of the dog. Commands: Where the word “command” appears in specific exercises, it will mean “command and/or signal” unless otherwise specified. All verbal commands must be in the English Language unless approved otherwise by the Judge. One command only is given to the dog for a specific action on the part of the dog. The verbal command must be a single word.

Need to slap you girlie first problem and you have gone into meltdown - now getoverit and put a plan in place to try at your next session ;) Yes I have gone into meltdown cos I've seen this fear in her before, it isn't good But I am going to try again on Thursday. If that fails, I have a backup plan BIG C/T

Poor Ruby - yep how did you originally teach the see-saw? Cider saw the see-saw for the first time on Monday. There was a chair under the "up" end and the other end started off probably 10cm off the ground. While all the others were getting their dogs to jump on from the side - I too her to the end and let her step onto it and immediately treated. Did this again before taking her to both sides to jump on and walk to the end. Each time the chairs were moved so there was a bigger drop I would start off letting her step onto the end and would click and treat. ACWA have a wobble board - has Ruby had a go on that?

Heading back end of October for 2 weeks Any idea if there is an obedience trial on around that time?
-
Speaking of trialling in other states, Seita/Huski - or can anybody else tell me when your trialling season finishes in Queensland please
-
I think its suppose to be wet before unfolding it or it may crack - something like that. I ordered a small and it cost me $35. Deb ordered a medium and the coat she got was linned and hers was $50 so much cheaper than the Cool Champion ones - but as I said - they are untested at this stage. So instead of singing onward Christian Soldiers I am now singing I do not need anything from Clean Run or hi ho hi ho its off to Clean Run I go.......
-
Yes they have arrived. I will bring mine on the weekend for you to have a look at and you can make your own decision. Its been too cold to try them out and because I haven't wet it yet - they say be careful - you know usual shammy warnings.
-
The correct answer is - my dogs are not allow to counter surf - if they put their paws up on the bench they get told off - its something I hate. Now being honest...... UMMM Yep Beans never used to but she is putting her agility skills to good use. She may only be a 400 height dog but can land in the middle of the dinning room table from a standing start - and thats where she helped herself to the fruit and nut toblerone
-
Most of our kids would eat anything too - its the reaction they have after eating that causes the issues and is an ongoing problem
-
I keep repeating...I don't need any of these as she clicks on the link for yet another look
