  1. Finally had some success with the start of 2 x 2 weavers (I make it sound like I have been trying for years when really it has only been Monday nights for the last 3 weeks ;) ). I also came home and watched the first 2 chapters of the 2 x 2 DVD so i now know that I am on the right track. The problem I had with Cider was that she has been so heavily rewarded for sitting and watching me that she just didn't offer any behaviours, didn't look at the poles she would just sit there and watch me. So last night I started with the box and was clicking and treating her for moving towards the box and very quickly we worked up to her going several metres to sit in the box (which was actually just 4 weave poles laying on the ground.) I then moved to the 2 x 2 poles and she started offering moving towards the poles - so I rewarded her with her i-squeak and very quickly she got the hang of running between the poles. :D Need to watch the rest of the DVD to see where to go from here ;)
  2. Hey Rubystar - MOnday night training will be back on very very very soon. Settlement is in 21 days
  3. Woo Hoo well done - this is a new title isn't it and means that you got 3 birdies back in the bucket. I take my hat off to you
  4. So do most people use food as a reward for the warm up? An i-squeak works best with Lexi.
  5. Very little as I am usually coming out of one ring and running into the next and more recently doing bits and pieces with Cider in between times. I guess I usually grab a couple of pieces of food and the dog and will reward for a couple of straight presents, finishes or a cop on the way to the ring and thats about it. I usually then realise I have forgotton my dumbbell or seekback and have to leave the dog with somebody so I can run back and get it
  6. How much warming up does everybody do before going into the ring???
  7. Gees a pat on the back to you too then - you did well fronting up at Northern Suburbs this morning

  9. Sold to the lady with the black labrador I wanted to give her away as the raffle prize this morning - but after her heelwork this arvo I decided to take her home ;) Yep the occassionally clever one was a good boy winning open and UD this morning (and 32kg of dog bickies) which the other 6 kids living with me are eternally grateful for
  10. Well done Coco and Kathq - doing both open and UD at the one trial is not easy for a baby UD dog

  12. Woo Hoo - she has only been trialling for 5 minutes - you should be mighty pleased
  13. Well done Huski and Seita on your first shot at CCD and UD. As Tassie said lots of positives to take away - BUT - have to say Seita - you will spend the next two weeks fixing everything that didn't go quite right this trial - and something else will break

  19. For obedience they are expected to walk at heel - its the most important position in the whole wide world. For showing it is not important.
  20. awesome will we be seeing this one in the show ring or obedience ring? Both beautiful photos of your new baby too
  21. Woo Hoo another baby. How did you choose him Nic - I can't wait to hear more about him
  22. Waiting for a puppy - I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas and this is puppy #6 for me. My little man turned 8 weeks old today - but I have to wait another 4-5 weeks before I get to meet him as he is flying in from Norway. I can't wait and yes it is another duck dog
  23. I am not sure how I teach it but all my kids have lightening fast downs. When I give them to others to work - you should see the look on the handlers faces when they give them a down signal and the handler ends up a step ahead of the dog because the dog has reacted faster. Now if I could only work out how I teach it........
