  1. Kathq and Seita my heart goes out to you as I know how frustrating UD can be. It seems that we all follow a similar path. We believe that our dogs are ready to trial in UD (and I don't doubt that they do know every exercise) and usually the first trial you enter you fail 1 or maybe 2 exercises, but overall its something minor and fixable that causes the fail so you come away really happy with the effort. From there it becomes a procession of having to fix every exercise one by one as they fall to bits and the dog fails things that they have never done in the past. So hang in there we really do understand and you both will come out the other side, much better trainers, having trained all the UD exercies multiple times and repaired many broken bits. Bedazzled and I still shake our heads as one of our boys will make an error, like not sitting in the box, and within a couple of weeks the other one with follow with exactly the same error. Its almost like they have been chatting to each other in the back of the car saying...........what will we do this week!
  2. Directed Jumping is now becoming a problem here. Thought it was set but now she seems to think the solid jump is the only one out there SIGH. Have watched the video of her at Gympie several times and am wondering if the voice command of "over" which is what I have always used in Open has her fixating on the thing as she seems to change direction when I give my slightly off timed voice command. She is having a few days off this week and will train again this weekend and am thinking of substituting the command "jump" instead. Should I use only bar jumps as well? Or stick with both types and just do multiple repetitions? Any and all suggestions welcomed. Kathq - when Bedazzled and I have had problems with directed jumping its been because of where the judge has been standing or if the judge moves a hand. So check that isn't the issue before changing anything. The other thing is how you are holding your hands just before you give the direction, if one hand is on top of the other you may be moving it first???
  3. Goodonya Seita - yep it will be the end of your article problem and dare I suggest it...... the start of your signals problem....

Hmm Amypie now I am worried my dogs can sniff out water from 1000m and I have visions of Beans chasing duck down Leach Hwy :D Strauss is 12 1/2 weeks old - he leave Oslo on Monday and touches down in Perth just after 2pm on Wednesday. 19. Can I ask Rubystar to take her mobile so I can ring if I get lost Now if my kids were into tracking I could get them to find you that way!
  20. Oh cool!! Toller cuddles Do you have a GPS? Just put in Berndt Grove, Winthrop. Otherwise come up the Freeway, turn off at South St or Leach Highway and get onto Murdoch drive ..... the carpark for Piney lakes is just opposite Corpus Christi College but it looks like most of us will park along the roadside on Berndt Grove which is right near where we actually meet .... Amy is good with directions, will leave it to her to get you there 10am Piney Lakes Reserve - the off leash dog area I have put my GPS somewhere safe and think I need a GPS to find it Amypie help me please (thanks Golden Rules you helped a lot) I know where Murdoch Drive is so thats a start - but the only entrance I know for Piney Lakes is off Leach Hwy and I have no idea where Bernt Grive is. Another silly question - how far from where we park are we sitting? and are there usually lots of dogs running free? Just trying to work out who to bring.
