I have a toller staying with me for the next 3 weeks, its one I bred (she is now 4 years old) and the owners have gone overseas. She arrived last night and the look on my old girls face was....... not another one . Feeding and sleeping arrangements were all sorted pretty quickly and Lola has fitted in like she has lived with us all her life. My new baby arrives out of Quarantine in 10 days time and I am expecting a lot more interruption to the general living arrangements when he arrives. I expect one of the bigger kids to take on the teaching/mother duties I am just not sure which one it will be at this stage. Good luck with your new baby

There has been a K9 massage course going on for the last 9 days at the K9 grounds and I was asked to bring my kids down today to be used as demo/practice dogs. Well the verdict is that they suck because "relax" is not in their vocab. While they won the hearts of all the student - all sitting pretty in the back of the tollermobeel, when the time came to hand them over, all they wanted to do was to check out where mum was and what the others were doing. Beans slipped her lead and came racing back to me. Scoota was turning himself inside out when they were trying to get him to walk away from me, Lexi, every time they tried to lay her on her side, would spring back to her feet, Cider was very vocal and wanted to see what the others were doing and Lara wasn't acting her age! So I think the general consensus was don't try and massage tollers at the K9 grounds because you will have more chance of wining first division lotto!

well done to you and the kids. Nothing like picking a BIG trial for you debut - bedazzled and I had this discussion during the week ;)

Mum visited Strauss in Quarantine today and rang me to say he now sits in heel position looking up and comes racing in when his name is called and he is really really really food orientated Bedazzled is visiting him on Monday and she has 1 hour to teach him heeling, cop and sit stays The lady who takes Lexi for agility is visiting him Monday week - so her task is contacts and weaving which means by the time he escapes on the 20th he should know pretty much everything :D

Nope I didn't enter that one - I think there was something else on and I didn't need much of an excuse not to head to the other side of the river

Me???? Um when is it - we are entered in a show this weekend but her ladyship is in season, my hydrobath motor isn't working, the boxes from the move keep multiplying every time I turn my back and I haven't chatted to my stand in handler to see if she was planning on going or not. Hmm it doesn't sound too hopeful does it

NO he wasn't but then we are talking 10 years ago - before you had to be a member to handle a dog.

I trained Lara up for the ET - over about 3 months we started with just 1km the first night because thats all my butt could take on the bike seat . The day of the ET and my ex came with us and he ran the first 2 legs (yep he was a long distance runner and triathlete) so it was a walk in the park for him and I did the last 6km leg on the bike. Lara handled it easily. CC so glad you have your kids home. 14 more days for us - so this time in 2 weeks I will be lined up at the door

Woo Hoo - I bet that you have already left and are on your way down to Byford to pick up the kids. Enjoy your day - it would be a great feeling I have Bean's sister coming to stay for a couple of weeks as on Monday, then Strauss arrives on the 20th - so it will be a bit of a full house and with 5 dogs already on the bed I think I definitely need a bigger bed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Amy - another year closer to retirement

I had similar problems with Cider when I was trying to start off the 2 x 2 weavers - she would just stand there and look at me, so it was a case of spending a session C/T for lots of different things and she got the idea pretty quickly of offering behaviours.
-
Seita - I am not sure if you have done any shaping before with Mack or not - but you need to teach the dog to offer behaviours - so arm yourself with a clicker (or your yes word) and treats and start clicking for anything in normal everyday living to begin with, just so he gets the hang of offering you behaviours rather than sitting there watching you.

when they are here and all paperwork done I will post pics and tell all until then cant say too much ( I learnt that from the bloody chinese whispers! in the dog world! )lol I want a peaceful process this time! J I fully understand!!!!

Thanks to Crazy Cresties for sending me a message saying that Strauss had got an outside run at Quarantine yesterday. I spent all afternoon trying to phone and it kept going to message bank - so I feel much happier Still need to ring and ask them to take him off puppy bickies as he is becoming a little porker Labrat I handed in my entries for the Bunbury obedience trial on the weekend - so I will definitely have 3 kids with me that day, maybe 4?? Wazzat Xolo - do tell us more about your possible new import????

I go back to work on MOnday (boo Hoo ) which means that I cannot visit Strauss for the next 3 weeks - unless I throw a sickie. I was told that if I let the staff know - they will take him out for a run into the outside exercise areas. WRONG! I spoke to one of the staff on Friday and that is only true if you cannot visit for the entire 30 days. She was going to speak to her boss about it (he wasn't there) and I was to ring next Monday to find out if my puppy was going to get a run or not. Very Poor if you ask me. I want to write to somebody but not sure who! and sorry - they tell me it takes them 8 hours to feed and clean all the kennels - You have to be kidding

I never enter any competitions, don't have the time and I don't consider myself very lucky. Anyway - being on holidays and trying to find something else to do other than unpack boxes, I had been listening to the radio and heard the Big Couch crew taking about the Dogies. So on Tuesday night I went to the 94.5 website -had a quick look and decided to enter one of the kids in the best smile competition. Blow me down if I wasn't shopping on Wednesday afternoon and the phone rang to say that we were one of the finalists and had won 2 tickets to the Dogie Awards at Mosmans Restaurant

YOu are a week ahead of me - so you must be half way now and I don't envy you having to take the young one with you. PS Happy Birthday and did you get your chocolate????

Areas are just hosed out each day and its not until a dog leaves that the place is bleached or disinfected. There is a definite smell in the kennels.
