Yep they do but its up to the judge. Open is the most common class for the judge to do 2 separate lots of stays.
-
Tiggy try not to do a down stay straight after a sit stay work them at separate times for a while. Its still an issue with Soggy so last night as soon as we started training we did a down stay and sit stays were the last thing on the nights agenda. I have issues with Soggy getting up as I return to her in a down stay

Mas1981 - what did you think of the seminar yesterday?
-
Failing any of the exercises is a fail - which includes the stays. In fact if you get less than 50% of the total for an exercise - that too is a fail. But don't go there - be positive!

I teach DOR using the 2 food game - all very informal and not coming to me for a reward. Tiggy I will keep my eye open for you on the 12th - goodonya for taking the plunge

HUge congratulations to Seita on your UD title - Bedazzled I have to disagree with you I think the first pass is the hardest Ness on your open pass - I raised a glass for this one Rivsky - come out from whereever you are - Huge congrats from me - another red star in the making and note to self - next time I decide to blow the dust off the kids and do some agility - make sure I do some training myself so I don't pull up so sore the next day - I think I am getting too old for this

Thanks Ptolomy ;) I am pleased with Millie. She started of so, so well (well, after we FINALLY left the start peg that is! ) and I don't blame her at all for her "stagefright". She saw those people and had a mini meltdown Maybe by next year she will be ready for such distraction. Ruby, well, I don't blame the Royal for her work. I need a brand new game plan with her or I might be withdrawing her for a little while to focus on Millie. I just can't cope with being frustrated with Ruby anymore, it isn't worth the stress it puts me under ;) Next time you train in a cow paddock, text me! I need to do some serious distraction work with miss moo though. She has so much potential and I don't want it to go to waste! P.S. I'm starting a Cider Fan Club, and I think I'm going to declare myself as President So do you think you could have done anything differently with your kids to have got a different result at the Royal? A Cider fan club

Anyone? Problem solved-it is only broken in the ring not when training It wouldn't be handler nerves would it??? Somebody here with a sheltie had the same problem. Dog thought that he was being left on a sit stay and she blew 3 trials as he didn't come on the first call. I think she ended up exaggerating her next trial call signal and it broke the run of ducks. I had a similar issue with both Cider doing a recall and Scoota doing Dog in the box. I would reward the wait or the sit in the box and then when I gave the next signal they would look at me as if to say ....no way am I going to move you just rewarded me for staying. Both dogs are very literal. I fixed it by playing get it games and rewarding them for chasing food and balls.

We get that all the time with Maizie, "Look it's blind in one eye" Nooooooo it's just a blue eye... The crowd watching Brookie (Aussie Shep)at the obedience were heard to say that they preferred BC's with tails and they wondered why the owner had cut off his tail.
-
Rubystar you should be please with your girls effort and I hope that this wont be the last time you decide to enter. You have to remember that the obedience ring is used to toilet the alpaccas in the afternoon/evening and with the crowd sitting on the ring rope it is a tough assignment. Hopefully the girls will find the States at K9 in 2 weeks time a much easier outing. Next year we need to do some training in a cow paddock and at a shopping centre to proof for distractions **** It was lovely to see so many WA DOL people watching the obedience and giving support - all that was missing was the chocolate chip cookies and the rocky road ***
