  1. I asked Valley CBR to show my kids for me. I was having issues with the stands and the judge coming in and examining which was flowing over to my SFE. I tried a few things to cure the problem but if anything it got worse, so I decided the easiest option was to take myself out of the picture (and once again thanks Valley for stepping in ) The arrangement is that Valley can go and help herself to any of my kids, she can reward the good bits, and it works well. I have asked her to use a different stand signal but I think that was about it. A few weeks back I was chatting to one of the top WA handlers who looked up and saw her with Cider, trying to get her stand, look at her teeth and have somebody come and pat her and this handler just about went into meltdown with the fact that I was letting somebody with not very much obedience experience play with what is potentially my new bestest baby dog. Later that evening I got Cider out and worked her and she worked like she normally does for me with drive and enthusiasm. So would others allow this - or do you believe that your dogs should only work for you?? Seita you are probably exempt because of the TID program you have done - but would others be willing to see if somebody could bring out the best in their dogs.
  2. Yep it is interesting - how do officials know if somebody is or isn't tuning the horse?? Does it bother you that you dog wont work for anybody else, or maybe I should be asking it is something you would keep working at??? Do you others work only for you too??? Once again I am not inferring its a good or bad thing .........just getting some thoughts happening......
  3. LOL I am on holidays I will wait for others to chime in before throwing any more questions out there.....
  4. In the UK competitors often get other people to warm there dogs up - would anybody consider giving this a try before a trial and do you think it would help or hinder?
  5. Happy Birthday Tiggy You are catching up to me So when does Pea arrive and will Pea be his name?????
  6. I've never done much warm up with Ella or my previous girl, usually straight from car/crate to ring with maybe a sit or something thrown in. I used to be chronic with warm ups with my first dog but by the time the second came around I realised that I was better off saving the energy that my dog had for the actual trial rather than wear them out before I went in. Ella has never really needed warming up, I give her working cue and she knows it's time to switch on and work, even when I first started trialling with her. I don't do much with my older kids but Cider is different - yep she can get straight out of the car and go into the ring - not a problem - but I get messy so I warm her up rewarding in postion which improves things considerably. So Seita is there any advantage in doing something inbetween a lot and a little bit to get a neater performance, but still with drive?? PS - no right or wrong answers to any of these questions - just things for people to ponder and maybe learn or try somethng different
  7. Do you thik this is stress related???? I don't think so, she is not a stressy dog and has been the same since she was a puppy. On walks, she prefers to do 4 little wees rather than one big one. She doesn't have a UTI. To be honest she doesn't do it often while training and when she does, it's when she's been released. Any tips gladly accepted though Hmm interesting - we have a dog competing in WA - who regularly gets to the scent article exercise in UD - goes out to the pack - does a once around and when the scented article doesn't jump out and bite her she goes off and has a wee. This now seems to have become an ingrained behaviour and I was just wondering if your case was similar?
  8. BIG Hugs Tiggy Emery - time for an update 5 is not enough........ *********Jacqui and the WA crew just wanted to say thank you for dobbing me into Clean Run. This morning they have sent through a $100 gift voucher. So that we can all share - any suggestions on the best way we can go about it. I did think that perhaps I could coordinate a bulk order and we could use the voucher for the postage side of things - so a bit like everybody having free shipping. Any other suggestions??**********
  9. I had to lure Strauss as he would also just stand there. I made sure the paver was between me and him and C/T when he stepped onto it to get the food.
  10. Hmm can't tell you until I return home next week....so hang in there
  11. I give my kids salmon oil in the evening - they get fish oil in the morning :p
  12. Have people found that as the dog has become more experienced that you need to do less warming up???
  13. A verbal toilet cue is worth its weight in gold - for all those thinking of trialling - this is something to add to your training plan
  14. Do most people crate their dogs or leave them in the car?
  15. Terranik - do you always get a catalogue ahead of time so you know when you are in?? We sometimes do for agility but very rarely for obedience.
  16. What is your routine when you arrive at a trial - how long before the trial starts do you get there? How much warming up do people do before their turn in the ring and how long before hand do you get your dog out?
  17. Yep not many people are taking advantage of it but you sure can - its half the normal entry fee
  18. Soggy did a 10 hour trip as an 8 week old puppy via Sydney. She certainly didn't come bouncing out of the crate - but 48 hours later she was a demon and hasn't looked back since.
  19. Maybe one day you can enter Lexi in open nfc or UD nfc and you can see how it feels :-)
  20. ;) YOU can be just like me at agility presentations when they all say go the obedience dog - we can then say....go the agility dog
  21. Yvonne posted this to WA Click..... With the Aussie dollar at an all time high many people are making purchases from Clean run. We have had quite a few come through Perth International Mail over the last few weeks. Their packing is very distinctive. Clean run tape on them or large dog wet nose kiss. This is just a reminder not order any dog treats or medications as these have restricted or prohibited entry into Australia and will be seized. Some of you may already have had your parcels opened. If any one has any queries about what is permitted I am happy to answer them or go to www.aqis.gov.au. I hope mine arrives in the next few days.
  22. I don't fly home until Tuesday - so it will have to be the next trial by which time you will hopefully have it sorted
  23. Ask Bedazzled about this :D I agree with Terranik - if the dog is standing square they are less likely to move. Happy to have a looksie at an agility trial to see if we can fix it before it becomes ingrained.
  24. Thats pathetic - eat takeaway like the rest of us have to Yep my first handbag was black - cost me $50 marked down from $95 and its the best $50 I have ever spent. She will be 14 at the start of December and still comes training
