Interesting the feet on brick exercise for backend awareness. I started Stands with Strauss yesterday and every time I went to stand in front of him he started moving his back end towards me - hmm houston I think I have created a problem :D
-
Have you been doing your homework :D

The dog is supposed to target the hand but I have been tardey in teaching a duration hand touch so Strauss is targeting my hand which has food in it and I drop the food and he catches it. I agree with you - this way of heeling produces a much straighter dog with no crabbing. Just be careful that when heeling with your arm out that your arm doesn't drift forward which will produce a dog that heels too far forward.

What a great feeling having dogs that can compete in 4 disciplines - a real credit to you Leopuppy and the icing on the cake was Leo's win. Enjoy the ride its a great feeling......
-
So we seem to agree that obedience dogs do need to be fit to compete. How do you all keep your dogs fit?? and your thoughts on taking performance dogs for a chiro type checkup every few months even if they don't appear lame are......

Well said Mrs Rusty Bucket - I was an athlete in a past life and I would never have competed without warning up first. Food for thought.......

It was lovely to catch up with Kathq, Seita and Huski tonight and glad to see we all made it home safe and sound. What Seita didn't mention was that all but 1 bank of lights went out 1/3 of the way into the trial which meant that all the rings were very dark. It was a lovely night for trialling and it was just wrong that I was there without a dog. The one things I learnt tonight is that Qld is full of shitty left turns - so girls put it at the top of your list of things to practice..........

Woo Hoo HUGE congratilations Nanna and I thought that you were going to a dog show today

How many days????? and maybe your mum would like to come for a drive tonight

TSD brought up a good point - how many people give their dogs the day off before a trial? If not what do you work on the day before???

OK bulk order it is then - if postage is more than $100 then I suggest we divide it equally between us I am not planning on keeping this open forever so it will only be available for one week, so don't miss out....... It is probably easiest if people PM me with their order - the name of the product, the quantity and the price for the item and the overall total price and I will PM you back when I have you on the list with my bank details. I will be looking at finalizing orders midnight Sunday 7th November and payment will need to be made by Thursday 11th. I will place the order Friday 12th November. I hope everybody is happy with this So Clean Run here we come...............order away

any question....... Do people prefer to train: by themselves With a friend In a small group 3-4 people or in a big club group 10+ and why......
-
I hope you have drycleaned your jacket for the upcoming show and made the decision on whether you are going to take Strauss or Soggy in for BOB Make sure you say hello to Lexi at the agility trial tomorrow and tell her mum is coming home. I tried to speak to her today and when mum put the phone near her she took off :D

How fit does an obedience dog need to be??? Do you think improved fitness improves drive?? Does the handler need to be fit???
-
OK a question to the TID people is not working for others a byproduct of this type of training? Maybe I should be asking do you think it is possible for a dog who has been trained in drive to work as well for somebody else??
-
Training by yourself you get into bad habits and when somebody points them out I sometimes find it hard to work out what is happening. I find it easy to hand my dog over so that I can stand back and see what they are referring to first hand. Yes you can use video but this is even easier and yes I am now very choosey as to who I let handle my kids after a guy who I respected didn't do the right thing
