New Obedience & Tracking Rules
Ptolomy replied to TerraNik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Bugger, Scoota's request for a rule change to being allowed to stand in the box obviously didn't get through Scent discrimination in UDX is made a little harder with the stewards putting the wash cloths out by hand (not tongs) and then the dog having to find the judges scent. -
Mats in UD aren't required on our bowling greens but they are regularly used in the eastern states.

This was taken from the oz obedience list and is only up to novice so far. TITLES 1) CCD will need a pass mark of 85 instead of 70. Presumably existing (pre 2011) Quali-cards @ 70 will still count. 2) Champion (OC) can now be obtained by the 2009 way (5 passes at 185+ in UD after the UD title); OR two passes at UDX/185+ AFTER the UDX title. 3) Grand Obedience Champion (Gr.O.C) - 5 additional passes at 185+ in UDX after the OC title. This means you need a minimum of 3@170 (UDX), 2@185 (OC), and then 5@185 (Gr.OC) EXHIBITS Fouling - penalty is now "5%" instead of "10 points" (due to the oddity with CCD out of 100 points) EHIBITORS AND HANDLERS 1) Change of pace (minor wording change, was speed) 2) Heeling (Failure to perform at least one sit, one down, and one stand in the heeling exercise must incur a non-qualifying score.) JUDGING PROCEDURES 1) Examinations - different procedure with limitations on the Judge 2) Non-qualifying score - An NQ score is not grounds for removal in itself, but the Judge is permitted to direct a competitor to leave the ring if they are using it for training. 3) Retrieving - wholesale changes (simplification) EQUIPMENT 1) Nominated area (UDX) - the cones may remain in place throughout judging, or be placed specifically for the exercise and then removed 2) Scent Discrimination (UD) - the mat may be removed before the Group Exercises Classes - Community Companion Dog 1) Qualifying score now 85 2) Stand for examination now 20 (was 10) 3) 1 min sit now 15 (was 20) 4) 2 min down now 15 (was 20) 5) Recall is now a call-to-front-and-sit, WITHOUT the "return to your dog"

Meetings were held to give your input and then each state voted on what they wanted and then the state reps took their requests to the National body where each state voted. Rule reviews only happen every blue moon

I did it with Lara, was doing bits with Blaize, but none of the others are smart enough . I have been waiting for the new rules to come out as I didn't want to train something that was no longer applicable. It was the one class that could have done with a complete overhaul, but unfortunately it is not a lot different.

Yep - so we now aim to have a grand occassionally clever dog

The new obedience rule effective 1/1/11 are now out. There are not a lot of changes from what I can see. I noticed that there are now only 2 blind retrieves in UDX instead of 3 and no "finish" in the CCD recall. and I have to tell Scoota that his request to be allowed to stand in the box was rejected!!!

and the grey hair is increasing . Glad to hear the only long term damage will be to your wallet. Thanks to Rubystar for the vanilla slice tonight - yummo I was trying on all these different handbags last night - first a yellow lab, then a brown kelpie and none of them looked right with the outfit I was wearing Thanks guys for letting me play with your kids and Lexi and Lara asked me to especially thank ValleyCBR - they love you

Yea Har Tassie - well done to you and your little WA man . So now you have to prove that he has brains as well as beauty - goodonya :D

Do you really want a dog with a name like Dwindling Flame I would think a 20in for Kenzie?? But if you wait until Saturday and I will see how the 18in goes on my girls.

The coat hangs over Moos backside a bit, but I would rather it be long than short. He is 53.5cms tall - so basically the same height as Ruby. And both boys look beautiful in purple and white

Feeding Meals Through Training - Raw
Ptolomy replied to Red Fox's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I do the same as Bedazzled - use the little plastic containers from Coles and fill them with mince, goat, chicken necks, pork - anything raw. This is used for jackpot type efforts, so I will take the container out of my pocket - give the god a small portion and put the container away. Usually in my other pocket I have an assortment of goodies including raw sweet potato, chicken necks, cheese, whitebait, 4 legs - the list is endless. -
I want it to be recorded that I was not responsible for Ciders name - I had absolutely nothing to do with it and I would change it if I could - it is so unher. Strauss is Dancing Pirate with a prefix I can't say
-
My first litter was a chocolate theme hence Choc Chip, Top Deck (Dekka).... and the second litter had to have Classic in the name (god only knows why - I think I wanted Ptolomy Western Classic which was disallowed - so we had to go back to the drawing board! I suck at coming up with names

Hey Tiggy glad I forced you into it - I think of her as a Polly Pocket Puppy. :D Rubystar - I couldn't believe the amount of white hair coming off Ruby last night during the SFE and you should have been pleased you kids both worked very well I bought leather lounges so the kids could lay on them . I haven't told the kids that I bought a new bed yesterday - that will be a surprise for them
