  1. We are lucky in WA with what I consider to be 2 of the best obedience trainers in Oz on our own doorstep
  2. It was given by somebody who had attended the Kamal Fernandes (hmm spelling) seminar in NSW Kamal is from the UK and has competed at Crufts. I have not done everything as per the instructions because I don't want the head to be in the position of the UK dogs, but so far I am getting prancy attentive heelwork after very little effort.
  3. Yes I will be there on the 7th - but I have already sent my excuse letter to Gina saying that I will be away for the two weeks before hand so don't expect much
  4. I taught attention first - started at 8 weeks of age and when she sat I would step into heel position and start rewarding. It took no time at all for her to look up at me the second I stepped into heel and then I just varied the length of time before treating. The attention was so heavily rewarded that it basically just flowed over to the heel work. Strauss has been different. I attempted to get some video of him last night, but the memory card was full - argh. We had a seminar 2 weeks ago on teaching the English style of prancy heelwork - which I am trying with him and all of a sudden the light has gone on. So stay tuned with this one......
  5. This is a training thread - so if Cider was yours - from the video what would you have on your list of things that need work...... fire away - I have my list and wont be offended......
  6. Chapter 1 if at first you don't suceed with dog number 1 - get another dog and start again Cider is dog number 6 for me - so I have had a few attempts - so hang in there :D
  7. YIKES I need to leave work early and go home and practice me thinks LOL Rubystar would you not try what you learn at the recent seminar with one of your girls??? Teaching an extended nose touch, Targeting the hand out wide and then moving your hand into heel position?? I will come prepared to pick on your tonight - so you better watchout
  8. Whose coming training tonight?? I will attempt to bring something yummy - but have bowen with Lara and then Accupuncture with Moo all between getting home and the start of training - so I may be a little late.
  9. Nah that was Cider (Soggy Bear) - Beans only lasted 12 steps in open before we decided that it was time to call it a day
  10. Happy 8th Birthday Scoota and his birthday present is.......... a session of accupuncture Lucky boy
  11. Emery I planned on coming over and say hello - but when I asked you had gone - so sorry. I knew you were there because Beans told me and the rest of the trial that there was a little kids with a truck playing outside her car and I put 2 +2 together Bedazzled used her clean run cool coat at yesterdays trial while I used my Shammy one. I have to say I was very impressed with it and now plan on getting a collar and lead to match I had a lovely day getting to take Rubystar's girl into Open - I loved every minute of it, even if it did look like the wrong coloured handbag.
  12. Woo Hoo Valley CBR a win for the rare breeds - I bet you had a smile from ear to ear - well done. and Neuter in show Terranik - I will drink to that :D Bedazzled x2 has a couple of brags from today - well done mate he worked so well, even better when you consider how hot it was Our little brag from today Soggy Bear scored 200 in her first novice trial today she is a very special little girl as that makes it 2 perfect scores from 4 trials :D
  13. No I didn't ask as by the time I had my problem we were out of novice and into open, so I had a pretty good idea on who I was happy to be next to and who I wasn't.
  14. Woo Hoo well done to Valley and Lincoln - the first of many I hope :D
  15. My kids do stays while the puppy walks around them trying to engage them in play and wondering why they wont get up and chase him. I had a dog who would never move during stays (I would bet my house on her not moving), but I couldn't guarantee that if a dog got up and came over to her that she wouldn't attack them. I had a fairly firm set of criteria for doing stays with her, unless she got 194 or better and that I could guarantee that thedogs next to her was rock solid, I wouldn't do them. At one of her last trials (last years state champs) the GSD next to her got up and went and sat right next to Blaize - we have video that both dogs ignored each other - whew. Stays I hate them!!!!!
  16. Rockingham have a sausage sizzle and bacon and egg burgers that you can buy. Nothing is close enough for you to walk.
  17. LOL about the parking spot - yep I will save you and Bedazzled one. You will see my car parked under the trees and I will put 2 chairs out. I generally drive the car down with one of the non trialling kids and then walk back to mums - so I may not be there when you arrive.
  18. Argh note to self another DOLer who is handy in the kitchen - hey guys make sure she parks close by when she next comes to Perth for a trial
  19. Free i-squeak shipping and then lots of us could benefit . I will do another order very soon, I promise
  20. Nah not me - I don't need another dog But if they are offering a home handyman that might be another matter
  21. Suggest they put i-squeaks on the free shipping list for a week
  22. Yummo - we will definitely come looking for you and yes it is a morning and an afternoon trial.
