  1. Make the most of it as your special lesson person is going O/S shortly
  2. Thank you. So where do we head from here - hmm probably another week or two of duration and try and build up the time a bit more and then i will reintroduce positions. Her stand can be a bit hit and miss and I have found if I leave her on a recall and go back and reward her for waiting she tends to not want to move at all (red dog mentality is .....do you really really realy want me to come cos last time I sat here I got a big fat treat ). It will be interesting to see if when Strauss comes if Ciders training falls in a BIG hole
  3. Cider's duration session from this arvo. HMM its still a work in progress. I forgave the jumping up as she missed out on a run yesterday and outside circles need some work
  4. They're a cope of the original, I'd be interested to hear how they compare. At that price, if they work as well I'll go back and buy a few if they have them then. I bought one last time they were on offer on COTD $9.95 from memory - they work really well I had hair all over the kitchen floor
  5. Just one nasty tunnel between you and a clear round. Have you resumed agility training with Toby again? I was thinking of you today as I filled in show entry forms for Ciderbear - I will have to email you to see if you are showing on these days......
  6. Nice work Tiggy I am sitting here laughing as I read Bedazzled post as nice PLACE Tiggy - thinking gees yes it is rather nice I took my daughter out this arvo and she videoed my duration session with Cider - only thing was somehow I changed the settings on the camera and the videoing didn't work Back to the drawing board ......
  7. CCD the handler returns to the dog in the recall - all other classes the dog returns to heel :D
  8. Unfortunately yes :D , although she does some obedience training with all of them, but just doesn't compete.
  9. Yep mine gets breaks - last week the big kids had the week off - they trialled last Sunday - they had runs at the oval all week but no obedience whatsoever, all except Cider . Have you tried teaching something new to break the rutt? Change of position, dumbbell, sit in the box, some work over one jump, walking backwards circles on the spot in both directions, spins, leg weaving, the start of 2 x 2 weavers - so running between 2 poles, figure 8 work..... I have to say training with somebody else really helps with motivation :D
  10. Woo Hoo Smisch - a weekend you would love to bottle - HUGE congratulations on a great effort with both boys. Stata Champion has a lovely ring about it
  11. Tassie - maybe I need to send all my kids to you for a weekend seminar on 2 x 2 weaving. Expect a BIG brown paper bag
  12. Well done Jess, to have a flat dog and to still pass and come second is not easy - only one more to go now ;)
  13. Hey Debazzled whats the chances of conning Caffy into doing UDX with her feral red ;)
  14. I have my own clipper crate and have flown both Qantas and Virgin - I prefer the Virgin staff - no particular reason why though. Virgin have restrictions on the number of dogs per flight. I am usually travelling with the dog - so I find a webjet fare and then ring Virgin bookings and book myself and the dog on - they match the webjet fare. If the flight leaves before 7am you need to drop the dog off 60 minutes before the flight. If the flight leaves after 7am then it is 90 minutes beforehand. I usually put a snuggler snoozabed in the bottom of the crate and I do have a water container attached to the door which I put a small amount of water in. I leave a lead in the bottom of the crate but I also carry one in my hand luggage. I try and watch the dog being loaded, but if I don't see it happening I always ask the cabin crew to check for me. Its handy to know where to pick the dog up from as most people working at the terminals have no idea. The dog always comes out bouncing at the other end of the flight.
  15. Is there any chance that you are walking into her that perhaps is causing her to not come in close?
  16. That just about sums it up - and we work out the rest of the course around those 4 peices of equipment I raised a glass last night to Moo who managed yesterday's masters gamblers gamble which had 8 weavers angling away from the distance line so the furtherest weaver would have been 8m from where I was running and he was weaving on my wrong side - I think I can no longer say my boy doesn't weave on my right and obviously osmosis does work since he has been watching the 2 x 2 videos with me each night - I keep saying to him I hope your watching this - Go the obedience dogs :D
  17. Shell thats wonderful news - you really have done a great job with your kids Tassie, Cider will be arriving in a brown paper bag next week - please return her when she is proficient at 12 weavers ;) Goodonya for Rory's effort - the speed should come with confidence. We had a Games trial this arvo and....... The red boys (Alex and the occasionally clever one) redeemed themselves for their Nationals effort by winning masters strat pairs in the 500 height. The run was so smooth it was like eating lindt chocolate - thanks Caffy . Alex was on a roll and also took out excellent snooker with Scoota 2nd. Alex was 3rd in excellent gamblers. I blew the dust off Beans - the last time she did agility was at the Nationals and bless her she took out the 400 height in Excellent snooker and excellent gamblers. I also got to run our newly crowned Agility Champion girl, Emmy in Masters Strat pairs and we took out the 600 height. I will sleep well tonight
  18. I did think about taking Beans to Brisbane - but she has done it before and travelling with Beans isn't easy due to her dietary requirements. Then I thought about taking Cider - I could teach her to swim and it would be a chance to see how she would cope with flying with a view to the Nationals next year Then it did cross my mind to take Strauss - but he is probably best left at home and then of course there is Scoota who fits in really well, knows the ropes and would love every minute of it. As for jackets/coats when trialling. I have done it before and often put them on for stays. My kids wear jarmies in the winter so they are used to wearing them.
  19. I have to laugh Tiggy - I emailed Strauss's breeder yesterday, she lives in Norway and I was complaining about how cold it was in the mornings here 1 degree Brrrrrr. She came back with.... a good laugh now... Thinking about our - 32 degrees last winter, and three hole months without once the temometer showing + degrees. :-D I wrote back and said I promise not to complain again
  20. Done it once here in Brissie and not again. The left over cow pats in the ring was enough to put anyone off let alone where they have you jammed in. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Having said that things are supposed to be being revamped so will wait and see. I know some people who thrive on that sort of challenge but I am to much of a coward. I know exactly what you are talking about when you say cow pats - we did the Ekka last year You forgot to mention the agility that is in the ring next to the obedience, side show ally not that far away and then you have the crowd around the outside of the rings. I did a bit of proofing before I flew over - went searching for cows close to where I was living and did some obedience on the other side of the fence. I must have looked like a total idiot to the people living in the house where the cows were or those driving by. The Ekka conditions were certainly the toughest we have encounted at a Royal but I wasn't put off and would do it again
  21. She is doing an obedience focused day in Sydney in November......
  22. So what are everybody's thoughts on entering obedience at a Royal Show - would you or wouldn't you  and why
