  1. Kathq UD is like that - just when you cure your problem another one rears its ugly head and in the end you go through the process of reteaching each of the exercises ;)
  2. I decided last night that July would be Lexi's UD debut and I see Terranik is making her novice debut in 2 weeks time Anybody else pencilled in a trial as their debut?
  3. Cider is entered - pending her SFE not being broken :D
  4. I guess I have the opposite problem to you - all Ciders training is done off lead - so if I decided to put her in CCD - I then have to make an effort to train with one on. Novice debut in 2 weeks - thats exciting :D How about posting some more videos everybody
  5. So I guess the next question is..... what is your dogs favourite treat?
  6. My kids are terrible at walking on a lead, especially if I am walking more than one - but then its not important to me - so sorry no help whatsoever. I took my kids for their first session at the local oval tonight and they were all working like they had had "speed" for lunch. It wasn't always pretty but I would give them 20/10 for enthusiasm Have pencilled in July for Lexi's UD debut
  7. Hmm - so far she hasn't reacted outwardly - buts its the liver/kidneys I worry about probably only 5cm worth. So the move has been interesting with Cider stealing mums bumbag and emptying its contents, and Scoota helping himself to my clothes off my shelf and bringing them to me waiting to be rewarding - never a dull moment!
  8. My superstar showed her agility skills by somehow getting from the middle of the dinning room table a HUGE fruit and nut toblerone while I was at the shop for a mere 20 minutes and mum was still in bed. When I came home I discovered a gift tag on the floor so went looking for what it should have been attached to and found Beans (yes the allergy child ) thoroughly engrossed in her winnings. Yes I know chocolate and raisins are a NO NO
  9. Argh Proof that Tollers can stand still Can't thank everybody enough - Diva and Armahani for your suggestions. I guess one of the major differences between teaching an obedience and a show stand is that when showing stand is the first and only position you teach - in obedience, it is the last of the positions and I have to say I have only introduced it recently - so yes I am expecting more than she is ready for. Maybe I need to think of it as a continual work in progress
  10. That was them Next time come and say hello and I will nab you for a SFE The breed standard says ... Some individuals may display reserved behavior in new situations, but this is not to be confused with shyness... Thanks for the suggestions so far. Its not the stand that I am having trouble with - its the examination that is causing the problem. Part of training a SFE in obedience is to do oppositional reflex work - so pulling on the lead and rewarding her for not moving. Also training for distractions so throwing food, balls, toys is still a work in progress. People can walk up to her and I reward her for not moving. She will even stay still for somebody to run their hand lightly down her back - BUT it all goes pearshapend when the judge lifts her head to look at teeth and then goes down her back, legs and tail. I guess in obedience I am at the end of the lead and its the dogs job to stand still - in showing I am tending to get in her face expecting her to move so grabbing her collar which may be making the dog worse. ? is 10 months a fear period ? Tollers follow closely behind labs in the ring and I notice even the lab babies stand still and don't move - so I am obviously doing something wrong - so please keep the suggestions coming.
  11. Yes we did show on Sunday - she was a witch and standing wasn't in her vocab. Have now posted in the showing thread asking for help!
  12. Hey Valley CBR - just wanted to say thanks for the run and the chat on Saturday at the show - the kids really enjoyed it
  13. Amypie I will definitely take you up on that as her SFE today was non existant Luck for us the judge liked her movement . So 87 more points to go.....
  14. I am interested to hear how "show" dogs are taught to stand and not move while the judge goes over them. Coming from an obedience background - I know how to teach a stand and my dogs cope with an obedience SFE, just - but the show SFE sends them back peddling and into a spin. Any suggestions on how I can help my 10 month old duck dog??
  15. Yep I did miss it and WOW haven't you improved since I saw you - thats just amazing Good work Huski
  16. So how are Daisy's line ups and finishes coming along?
  17. Caffy has a BIG brag from today.............. Must email Judge Lisa and tell her the team name is back to the Duckweavers! Goodonya mate and Goodonya Alex
  18. You can't half tell that you are really enjoy your training at the moment. Next time you need to take you scent articles and have the kids put them out for you.
  19. Is this a new problem - or have you seen it gradually creeping in? Can you make giving her her food more fun - like throwing it for her to catch - or playing the two food game. I have Never had this problem in fact, like Bedazzled, I have the opposite problem - I am more like to lose fingers when handing out treats
  20. Soggy Bear (Cider) got her first 7 point BOB today ........93 more points to go
  21. Sorry to hear about Rommi's injury Fish oil is a natural anti-inflammatory - so it certainly wouldn't hurt.
  22. Can I suggest that you email this agent in Sweden - she may be able to give you a Finland contact as she has just put me in touch with a Norweign agent. 23. Um Caffy was it you or Snaz that was having trouble focusing in the sit position :D
  24. Basically interupting the sniffing or the inattentive behaviour they are doing. An "OI" would work for my kids or I would turn and run away - no need for me to grab a collar. You may find that if you touch them on the shoulder it would be enough to break the sniffing trance???
