  1. :-)) I'm sure a very grateful rescue will see this soon. Meanwhile I just wanted to say what a wonderful offer you have made, large gifts like that don't come along very often for hard working rescue groups, who's members very often fund most things from their own pockets. fifi
  2. Really appreciating the updates Troy, and the wonderful team behind the scenes. The evening candle being lit here for Jed. fifi
  3. Most breeders hope that their most basic wishes are followed, and if you agreed to a desexing contract, then I would hope that a puppy person would adhere to it, or discuss hesitations with the breeder. NOT listen to someone telling them to blithley disregard the agreement. fifi
  4. Refreshing this page many times a day, always hoping Jed's condition is improving. our candle is lit for her each evening. fifi
  5. Yes, the op's friend has scored a doozy there !!! I have no problems with what I see as responsible terms, but one of the one's mentioned - buying a puppy to have it taken off you at a later date.... fifi edited to make sense
  6. Wow. I am of the total opposite. I'd stay clear of any breeder who puts all their puppies on main register. You only have to look at what's being bred by novice breeders in all breeds to see why it's dangerous to put everything on the main. There is variance in most litters and I think it's important to still scrutinize the litter to only pick 'the best'. I'm not sure how you can say that by putting some pups on limited, means the breeder isn't confident with their breeding. In one well planned litter, you could get a very high quality, well put together dog, but yet it's littermate may have different qualities which doesn't see it as well conformed, and thus should be placed on limited. Doesn't mean that it's not 'quality'. The others may still be of very high quality and better than many being shown, but to put them all on main with no restrictions on breeding will only see them end up in the hands of novices who will ruin the lines. To me, breeders who put restrictions on their dogs are being responsible for their breed. well said Stormie. I don't think every pup in a litter is worthy of putting on the mains, and breeders who are objective and selective for their breed's future and maintaining quality in the lines, would not be so quick to send out their pups with mains reg and no restrictions at all. fifi
  7. Great news Bailey's mum (the eating, not the mess !) Adn I agree with Trish there too, eight is a lot for a wee dog, and probably the reason you had some interested in Brandy's bowl so early. they may just need that solids top up at this point. fifi
  8. Oh merciful dog, where's that brick I keep for bashing my forehead with !! fifi
  9. :D nods in agreement. In fact, until he began besmirching breeds and breeders, and promoting DD's, I actually used to LOVE the GARDENING show he had. If he'd stuck to that, I would still have been watching. fifi
  10. oh noooo, in order to remove that image from my head, I'll have to.... :D followed by excess.... ;) ;) fifi
  11. Okay, can we resume hysteria, DB parody, excess emoticons and soooo needed laughter ?!! pleeeeze !! fifi
  12. Voloclydes, many of participated in the breed road tests, not because we liked him, but in the hope of our breeds being represented truthfully. He used our edited efforts as fuel to his DD promotion. fifi PS, we are talking over ten years ago, and I don't know of any breeds that have allowed him access in the last few years.
  13. hey, it was worth it, any price for a good laugh this week !! fifi
  14. :D oh lordy !!! coffee drinking 101.....NEVER read a post, sipping coffee in a tilt back office chair off to find a chux for the screen, keyboard, and my shirt !!! fifi
  15. Air time isn't much use when he uses it to misrepresent a breed and promote and be very much responsible for the flood of designer dogs. fifi
  16. I never used to look in the news section often, but now the first & last thing I do is look here for updates on Jed & her loved ones. And as my oh puts the kettle on, its the first thing he asks me......'any news'? If collective love, concern and healing has power - I think we have enough for a small city :-) Steve, I know this isn't all you are dealing with, take care of yourself too. fifi
  17. The show done on my breed of interest nearly gave the breeders & pet owners a collective stroke. It was followed up with an article in his magazine that was also full of weird statements. Like they interpreted the fact that this breed looks young into old age...as 'they never stop acting like silly puppies'. And more of the same. The breeders wrote in protest & got ignored. I wrote as a pet owner pointing out how my example of the breed was the total opposite of how they'd described it. I got an answer...saying my dog must be a one-off. And that their researchers had dug up the information. I wrote back again, pointing out I worked at a research centre in a university....& gave them the rules for research. Like No 1....quote your sources. No reply to that one. By contrast, when Dr Harry's old program did a road-test on the breed.....they got the best, most experienced breeders on board to consult with. The result was brilliant. absolutley Mita, the Dr Harry road test on Irish Wolfhounds was an exercise in complete contrast ! I think there's always going to be some media poetic license, but the Dr Harry one at least strove for authenticity. I love your sentence about collective strokes !! when the burke wolfhound one was aired on tv, I remember the phones running hot....as people in our breed expressed disgust that a full day of filming could result in a three minute (if that) horror show of misinformation !! stick to the garden you dopey gnome ! (sorry gnomes !!) fifi
  18. Yes, morons. It was hot, we were tired and the dogs were just wanting to go home. That day is burned into memory and I have resisted any urge to do stuff like that again. Although, Tiggy did a fashion shoot at Camden. 9 hours for 2 photos. I guess I'm just a slow learner. Sadly, I still have the don burke magazine with the wolfhound feature in it.......the only plus is that we were all younger and skinnier & some of our hounds from over a decade ago are in the piccies !! and of course........oodles were still a food without the 'N' fifi
  19. I remember one of the last 'breed tests' that Rob Zammit did with him, poor Rob's eye's were rolling as burke sprouted 'expert breed knowledge' and kept contradicting the VET !! the twit tries to breed every animal he comes into contact with, some horse people really saw him coming !!!!! IW4ME, didn't they ask one of us to run up the hill so they could film the hounds loose and chasing ?!!! can't remember any volunteers for that one !!! fifi
  20. My real one is lit too, and our thoughts are with Jed. fifi
  21. OOOOH Can I put an order in now for a pink one with stripes What a sad man... gosh, we really need this laugh I would have thought one of the rainbow big little pony's would be much sought after fifi
  22. Thank you so much for the updates, It really helps us that are worrying from behind our screens and unable to physically assist. I know that this has been a huge wake up call for us, we have installed the smoke alarm that has been sitting in it's packet on the table, waiting for a 'round-tuit' We climbed up into the ceiling to check the flu and wiring & insulation. The fires in Vic made us more aware of fire hazards around our place, but now we have made more efforts around the home. My thoughts are with you Jed. fifi
  23. I reckon he wants to cross them with a crested !!! and make BIG my little pony's !!! fifi
  24. Was that the day at Fagan park in Arcadia ? OMG.....the only bits that they showed on the tv programme, after seven hours of filming on a warm day, were the bits you would NOT use to promote your breed ! things like encouraging people to have the dogs up on their shoulders ect. "make them DO something" !! can't you just let them go (public park with tame waterfowl and parents with toddlers romping ) I replied with, oh yeah, I can let this fella go if you want to see some duck carnage !!!! Xolo....there's a reason the name has become a noun.....he's a BURKE !! fifi
  25. there is a register for this called the pacers buddy system. Click on my sig. DOGSNSW also have an emergency register. I'm at work, but just checking in to see the updates. So hoping Jed is improving. fifi
