beautiful bubba :-) Sorry to hear of your pup CL, I'm guessing those little premmie lungs are what stopped your good care being enough to save her :-(( Hellier, I've seen mostly good outcomes with rattley pups, those that were physically well formed and hadn't already gone into phnemonia(sp) Keep up the physio and AB's for a week, and just make sure the little one is keeping as mobile as the other little grublets. Also that he feels firm in your hand, and no different to the others. fifi

sounds like mum has lots of milk and he's a guts !!! best of luck with him :-)) fifi

No worries, the fun bit is gauging the 'eighth' fifi

Poor little pup, you've checked the palate ? If you have any ordinary clavulox tabs, you can crush an eighth of one into a dropper of boiled water to at least tide you over. edited, sorry I though the drops were coming tomorrow. fifi
-
PS: Do you swing them to remove fluid from lungs at birth if they are a bit 'fluidy' ? I don't think suction does enough. fifi
-
Clavulox drops straight away, and physio as Pers suggested :-) fifi

Yay............fresh blood.......... .....really.....SUPER CONGRATS on all three of you and new prefixes Great to see new breeders in the making, wishing all of you a long & happy involvement and puppy breath . fifi

sending good thoughts Kirislin. Hopefully its just inflammation and she will be fine. If she gets the nod for being fine at the vets, perhaps book her in to a good dog chiro / therapist to make sure her neck/spine is not out. hugs, fifi

so glad he's home with you Cassie, loved the photos, handsome Hudson - and I hope someone has told you how beautiful YOU are too :-)) huge hugs to you both. fifi

I'm so sad for you Lyndsay, he looked like a very precious little man. hugs from us all. fifi

Hope he's doing well this morning Cassie. Forgot to mention last night, we keep on hand De-gas capsules too, you can get them in the supermarket in the panadol/cough syrup isle. If I suspect someone has a gurgly or not quite right tummy, (but not bloating - we are in the car in seconds !) I stick three of them down their neck ! hugs, fifi

Steve put up a thread a little while ago, a research thread asking for experiences with GDV/bloat, if someone kind find the link, it had a lot of good info on symptoms/outcomes. (and of course some harrowing details) Cassie, the stomach tube is passed to decompress the stomach of air and or fluid/solids, it can also help where there is a partial blockage of a spinchter, to disloge a foreign body. (as in a friend's dog with what was assumed to be a chicken neck) fifi

Bloat and GDV (gastric torsion) are life threatening, one of those things you don't wait to see how it goes - STRAIGHT to the vet. the dog my be restless, drooling, trying to vomit, they may develop a distended stomach or their stomach may feel tight like a drum but not swollen. Some may try and drink repeatedly and then throw it back up. Also adding the excessive panting that Cassie mentioned. Some dogs don't show immediate distress, but you just know they aren't quite themselves. even if you slightly suspect bloat, phone the vet immediatley. fifi

Cassie, did they tube Hudson ? Just curious if he deflated after the vomit himself or was there meds or tube ? fifi

You just do everything you can in the way of prevention and then hope for the best, like limiting exercise before & very much after meals, serving smaller meals am & pm instead of one large one, raw feeding where possible, keeping an eye on water intake, limiting stressl / overexcitement and especially around meal times. No, not every dog that bloats will bloat again, it may have just been circumstances today for Huddie. Hope he continues to improve Cassie. Its one of the things that I try not to worry about, but one sound from the dogs after dinner and my heart is in my throat. fifi

Kristina, green poo can be a first sign of infection or tummy upset, are you supplementing them to help the bitch if she's struggling ? I'd be starting them on Protexin straight away, or some clavulox drops if you feel they are showing signs of not being 100% fifi
-
Oh shite Cassie, just saw the title and my heart stopped. Yes, its very good that he didn't torsion. See if you can backtrack to the what led up to him bloating, so you guys can be aware, ie; if he exercised after eating or anything different happened. sometimes though - they just bloat :-( Well done to your ex for immediate action, probably saved Huddie's life. sending Huddy all our good thoughts & hugs to you. fifi

How about you two take this personal stuff to PM please. fifi

Oh Crap Kirty, I hope the Champa is okay and they can tube him. Its' okay to vent, One of my fosters destroyed the garage - an entire wall, doors, totally wrecked it and many other thngs. Once Champa is recovered, then time to work on a way of containing or restricting his access to stuff when you can't supervise him. fingers crossed he's okay. hugs, fifi

I'd be getting a new studmaster !!! In reading prog results, repro vets look for the curve or stepped, gradual rise in levels as an indicator of ovulation, sudden peaks / spikes may mean a very short period of fertility or window of opportunity. fifi

Jeans, too casual - as someone mentioned, they look like you couldn't be bothered. skirts - I've never owned a skirt or dress and don't like them, Pants are just way more sporty and flattering. Fleuro suits....KAK !! as Keshwar said, you end up looking at the handler. But yes, a bright vest or tie adds some pizazz ! There are some lovely clothes around, without looking like a refugee from an eightees music video !!! fifi
