Earl Ate A River Stone ...and It Got Stuck.......
fifi replied to MsKatie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh crap KHM, I think I jinxed you when I said to watch him for injesting more stuff :-o Slippery elm powder, a tablespoon either on his food or mashed into a piece of banana if he likes it. you'll end up with the bare earth policy with that dawg ! Hoping he's okay. do you have a large crate you can confine him to when you leave the room ? hugs, fifi -
Biss- Should You Enter Property Classes?
fifi replied to Irish Lassy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Totally agree. Sire & Dam's progeny is a group thing, so quality has to be right through the progeny. I know the BISS winner for our show Saturday only competed in the sire's progeny. (and I was happy as the BISS winner is my boy's half brother and my Gillie won best headed dog and best coated ) fifi edited cause I mixed up the days !!! -

For Those That Don't Look In Off Topic
fifi replied to Bundyburger's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is now a pinned thread above, for those that would like to send a card or contribute towards something for Vicsta to honour her mum. fifi -
Drool is an excellent coat texturiser for the coated breeds :-) (and wall, curtain, carpet bling) fifi

Troy is going to pin this :-)

Yes, AI kits usually contain semen safe lubricant. I've PM'd you SWAY's shop. fifi
-
Do you have a good repro vet or experienced breeder who can do fresh AI's if you aren't able to secure a natural ? Although its better all round if they can just do the deed, if everyone is normal and its only inexperience that holds things up, then a couple of fresh AI's will at least give you hope and a chance. fifi

I hope you're not talking about the people on the thread who urged caution? Who else could she be talking about? I thought we all approached it with common sense and politeness. Yes, sounds like a lovely gesture, but who could live with themselves if HP returned to tell us her beloved dog was poisoned ? THere ARE lovely people out there, but we need to be aware of those that aren't, and err on the side of caution. Gaylek, would you feel the same way if a nice old lady whom you didn't know, gave your kids lollies on the street ? I'm sure you would be touched by her kindness, but would you let the kids eat them ? fifi

Well done all the winners, and to SWAY & her roving reporters !! fifi

Saluki....fingers crossed

I wouldn't feed them just prior to mating. And I'd probably seperate them for a few hours and try again when they are fresh. Will he let you guide him in when he mounts ? sometimes it just takes a helping hand to get the boys in. fifi Does sound like you could use a bit of help, one person matings are not easy if things aren't happening by themselves.
-
So just to clarify, has the bitch been prog tested ? If she is standing for him, have you tried stimulating the dog with them both on lead, and assisting him to enter the bitch ? Some novice dogs need a bit of a kick start. fifi
-
Have you been charting her blood progesterone levels ? she may not actually be ready for mating. If you are not experienced, I definitley advise having a mentor or exp breeder there to assist. fifi edit, dancinBC has it covered ! :-)

I'm so sad for you and your family. run free and young little Hugo. fifi

I'm glad you posted Erny, my thoughts were the same and I've been thinking about how to word a post like yours. Heavypaws, I'm glad you'll approach this with a an open and cautious mind. Sad that we have to consider bad things, and I hope with all my heart that the gift is from a sincere and lovely dog lover. fifi

I think Beck's mentioned Open show in her post, which is usually fee free. With the champ shows, there are many generous judges who refuse their fee or donate it back :-) or just accept enough to cover their costs. (which can really add up....suit dry cleaning, airport weekend parking fees, petrol to the airport when they live hours away from one, extras not always covered when a judging at a show - like food & beveridges at air ports, taxis ect.) sorry...went OT there !! fifi
-
Becks, most country shows around here have an esky in the ring all day, with bottled water & other drinks in ice. fifi
-
 Beautiful that little face just melted my heart ! fifi
-
Our judges have an esky in their ring with ice & cold drinks.....dog forbid someone should have to make eye contact or hand a judge something.....lest they be accused !! I would be over the moon for extra helpers to volunteer to do stuff. Lets face it, most of us know each other in our breeds, our regions, our clubs and of course FB !! If everyone didn't enter under people they knew on some level, would be a pretty empty show ! fifi

Yay.....Congratulations to Chris & Lloyd (Tirowen Dark Dragon) BOB Irish Wolfhound :-)) Thank you for the results Sway ! fifi
