  1. i registered, but will probably be on holiday when it arrives, and won't get it til oct 2nd
  2. thanks for explaining it so simply. while i kinda understood some of it, there was a lot i didn't know before. greatly appreciated as i want to get back into my photography.
  3. I'll be in Coffs on the nights of the 16th and 30th of September if anyone wanted to meet for dinner. won't be a late night, as I have about 6 hours driving that day, as well as the day after, so will need my rest. I'm staying at Hawaiian Sands Motor Inn near the beach.
  4. oh and does anyone have any good suggestions of where to go that would be fairly central to town, and has good reasonably priced food and drinks?
  5. congrats! didn't know you were pregnant (as you don't have a ticker and i don't go in the pregnancy thread lol)
  6. wish i was still going to be in canberra that weekend now
  7. of course!! lol yes i'm staying with stacey
  8. I'm coming to Newcastle from Sept 17 (arrive at night) and leave in the morning on Tuesday 21st. At this stage I'm intending on going to the RAAF day at Williamtown both the Saturday and Sunday, and probably have plans with family on the Sunday night. Would anybody be interested in a dinner meet either on the Saturday or Monday night? Can't confirm day yet, as I have to run things past my family that I'm staying with to make sure they haven't planned anything, but just wanted to find out if anyone would be interested. eta. i'll be staying in kotara, unless my aunt and uncle have moved and i'm not aware.
  9. I'm going to be in Canberra from the 21st to the 28th of September. If anyone is interested in a meet, let me know. I was thinking a dinner somewhere as I suspect my days are going to be busy with touristy things lol
  10. thanks dave. battery is in and camera works woohoo!
  11. someone else said the same thing via sms too. the battery took less than the 100 mins to charge, so i'd say it had some charge in it.
  12. is it still necessary to leave them charge overnight before using them? i bought a new point and shoot today (nikon coolpix) was kinda of an impluse, as i was helping dad buy a point and shoot for mum (canon ixus one down from 320 to 198 at harvey norman) and ended up going back in the arvo to look at a new one for me. the guy said that i should charge the battery for 10 - 12 hours before using it. instruction manual doesn't say that, just that it takes 100 mins to fully charge from completely depleated. batter has been on to charge for about 2 hours now, and a while ago it said it was fully charge. i want to take the camera to a costume party i'm leaving for shortly, and want to know if it is ok for me to do that, or should i really leave it on overnight?
  13. i hope you don't mind, i had a play with your pic in iphoto. red eye changes the colour of the glow, takes the blue out of it. then i tried retouch, and that does take away the glowing, but now your dogs eyes are solid black lol (it looks quite bizarre. will try and post it)
  14. does the tool that you use to get rid of red eye in iphoto work to get rid of that? i haven't tried it on glowing eyes, only red eye
  15. congrats alicia! that album is fantastic, i can't even pic a favourite page!
  16. thanks firestone. i looked at 3 suitable backpacks, one didn't have the laptop section and the top section was angled in so very narrow at the top, and i thought it looked funny so didn't get it. it did have great access to the camera section at the bottom. the other one had the camera section fold out funny and i didn't like that lol but the one i bought was the one i liked a few weeks ago and went back to again yesterday to see what dad thought, and ended up buying it. but now i really really want one of those kelly moore bags too... oh well, i have to wait til may.
  17. ooo i want the kelly moore bag in grey. thankfully they're out of stock as i just bought myself a new camera bag yesterday with my birthday money. i got a tamrac aero 80 photo/laptop backpack it was very comfy on, has a large upper section for day stuff, will easily fit my body and up to 5 lenses in it (one attached to body), and will fit my laptop when i need to take it too it also has 2 of those mesh pockets on the side, handy for water bottles/umbrella's etc.
  18. wow huga, you hair looks great that shade of red! and kja, i like how you recropped this.
  19. both my parents cycle, and my brother does triathlons, so i think it's normal for men to shave their legs lol
  20. i personally, prefer to try and get the photo 'right' on the camera, so not much editing needs doing (if at all). most of my photos on here have had no editing (except to make them smaller to fit on here), but occasionally i might boost the colour, or add an antique effect, but that's it. atm i'm only using iphoto to edit photos, so am limited to what it can do, but would like one day in the future, to get an editing program and try other things (ie i really like those black and white photos which have 1 thing in colour, etc)
  21. Day 9 - Pegs Was happy with this one, only took the one shot
  22. Day 8 - took my camera to the mall to try out a few shots. hard to focus on the people walking past, so decided to get some standing near me to the side. this was the best of a terrible bunch too lol
