  1. Got a version of a shot I'd been thinking about this morning. Didn't think I'd be able to and it's quite different than the original thought, but working with wildlife I take advantage of whatever the opportunity brings! Have a couple others that will work, but aren't really what I wanted to achieve, but have had to totally scrap my first two plans due to uncooperative subjects LOL
  2. That's really cool, Rally :) 10 Feb 2013 - Tilly's new favourite beach pastime, checking for crabs to chase!
  3. Ping - I like! Maybe you should jump over to the non-committers thread. We know we're not going to post 365 days this year so we just do what we can :D
  4. I need your best methods for removing doggie drool from car windows. Usually a bit of a standard soap & water scrubbie will get it off but I think our insane temperatures have changed the molecular structure of the spit and it's now practically impossible to remove!
  5. details for each theme can be found on the bloggie, fwiw ;)
  6. Love the one of them all getting out of the car, tlc!
  7. 09 Feb 2013 - my daily dose of joy: how much Dora loves our early morning beach walk
  8. Well, I mean look at him! He's all hiding behind that bush, right next to the road, rubbing his paws together in anticipation, evil look on his face
  9. oh kitteh!! too cute :) You'd think with only five days til my holiday I'd be in an ecstatic place but really, I'm just blah. I think the heat is making everyday things just too much. took my baby camera to the beach this morning but the sunrise was super boring. Took a couple shots of the dogs that turned out blech. 08 Feb 2013 - roo waiting to jump into someone's car :D Maybe tomorrow I'll be more interested in getting something useful!
  10. boring sunrise. 46C today. Still 40C at 7pm. No photos were taken!
  11. Gert - Salt looks half crazed - but beautiful - with staying indoors! I hope you guys get out soon.
  12. Sweltering again here today. Hit the beach with a friend & the pups. Not sure 32+C water is that refreshing, but it's better than nothing! 05 Feb 2013 - happy goggies in the sea Alternate title "Look, Mom! No boogies!!"
  13. As long as the theme is incorporated, the subjects can be whatever...but we do need to try to reflect the theme, that's part of the challenge ;)
  14. Remember the rest of it "Feathered - wild or domestic" Can't wait to see everyone's ideas!!
  15. No idea about the info your instructor had. Things do change. Just know that opening and closing doesn't do a damned thing ;) When you edit and save, that's when there may be some loss...and again, on a good file, that loss only starts to become apparent after 5+ saves (usually). There are tons of examples and tests online if you're really keen. Personally, I just don't worry about it. I'm not sure why this myth persists. You jpeg isn't going to self-destruct :D
  16. 04 Feb 2013 - intentional snorkeling selfie on the left, whoopsie selfie on the right
  17. I would say no they aren't allowed. Wild & free or domestic was the intent, I reckon. Be warned, if my birds don't come back MY theme will be nudibranchs :D
  18. thanks, MTD & MDM! Glad to know I'm not boring everyone :D It's frickin' hot here today...we've just dropped to "feels like" 42.8C. Blech. So went snorkeling again and had a turtle, porcupinefish, tons of other schooling fishes, some nudibranchs, shrimp, octopus, crabs...it was actually a pretty quiet snorkel for most of the time. But, man, it felt good to be in the water for a couple of hours. AND I didn't get sunburned (much) Yay, Me :D Panasonic TS3
  19. In fact, jpegs do not lose quality from opening and closing. They only lose quality when they are opened, edited and saved. And there is a lot of support for the idea that you really have to repeat that process 5+ times to get noticeable loss on a reasonable file. The images you received from your photographer should be ready to print. While I prefer my clients use labs I know and trust, it takes a shitty lab to really screw something beyond recognizable or that I'd be embarrassed to see...and you'll be able to tell ;)
  20. Digital Works has an easy online ordering system and no matter what I've sent to them, the colours have come back spot on. They aren't the cheapest or the most expensive. They get your order most often the same day and they have about a zillion different options if you want something non-standard or mounted or matted etc.
  21. Just remember that when you are buying a professional product, you aren't really paying for the physical medium like the print or canvas or album etc. You are paying for the photographer's skill, talent, time and vision. $900 for a 30 inch canvas is definitely in the ballpark for a pro product, fwiw.
  22. Finally out for two dives yesterday, been too long. Amazing stuff: 2 Queensland gropers, a bull shark, tons of turtles, all manner of little guys. Only shot a few frames, including some with the Baby Panasonic TS3 - so fun! More photos here - enjoy. Leave some lovin' if you're so inclined as it's nice to know if anyone has any interest!
  23. Love C :) 03 Feb 2013 - Simon & his new little buddy! Panasonic TS3 @12m
