  1. Rebanne yep to outside, many forget at the breeders the pups where treated like dogs they ran, played, did silly things & enjoyed being a dog then when they go to there new home there wrapped in cotton wool, there identities taken away & they are no longer a dog but a cute toy that becomes needy. Our pups at 5 weeks run an acre, ther smaller than full grown chis, they use the doggy door, run, play, use there senses, they are raised in the house but have experienced the outside world & we stress to our puppy owners that what is cute now wont be in 12 months time if ruined. That is the most important common sense aspect you have the dog for 12/14tyrs the first 12 months can make or break your dog. Cute will always be there but pleasure is another thing. I have 3 that sleep on my bed & yes are spoilt BUT they are dogs and i never lose sight of that i wont my dogs to be something i can enjoy forever . All our dogs are crate trained as there show dogs All our dogs are groomed weekly as there coated. We never bribe which is commonly suggested ,they are placed in crate & we never hear a peep they just curl up & go to sleep, infact bring a crate in & itslike the running of the bulls to get in first. Our dogs when groomed just stand on the table from 6/8 weeks & we do what we have to. My big guys take over 2 hrs to prepare for the ring but groom time is fun, when i open the door to that room they either run for the table or the bath & wait . It isn't made special its just something that is done ,no fuss but the enjoyment is pleasing us or being with us This one of my guys
  2. I think one of the biggest issues is to much info. When we first started selling our puppies people used common sense & all was great. In the last 10 yrs there is this new trend to google, buy all sorts of books & people have lost the common sense aspect & end up so confused they make training hard & when it goes pear shaped the slightest whinge/cry ia labelled "seperation Anxiety"
  3. http://www.sunburyvet.com.au/services.html But any vet clinic can order it if they say they can't there being lazy
  4. I have feed Tuckertime rolls for over 25 years now & all my showdogs get it,i have tried the Ecopet when in Melbourne but prefer Tuckertime . Haven't tried Scottys. The problem is the price of Tuckertime over there ,when i fly i normally bring my own frozen although have had a vet in Sunbury get it in for me
  5. Has the dog seen an eye specialist ??
  6. Puppy of the year can either be fast or very slow. Dogs are judged in grps of 3 or less, the 3 judges go over each dog & then each dog moves & then that is it until scores are counted. You spend about 5 mins in the ring maybe less & then all enter together for the announcement, So basically its just like a class being judged
  7. Yes, i have 2 here both eligible to gain there Supreme after the 1 July. No puppies to enter so miss out this year
  8. Yes it was a great night with my boy winning the group, a great end to 2011 for him but above all a wonderful December show season 5 shows,2 BIS ,1 grp,1 ruig. The weather was so nice compared to the previous year where you got blown away & simply didn't hang around .
  9. The fact that many pounds can't find chips any way is just as much an issue.
  10. In WA we can only hold night shows from Jan to March with the 1 exception of Albany (4 hrs away). A well run club and EXHIBITORS who are organized can have the shows finished at a very sensible time . They can't start before 6 pm ,most clubs start at 6.30 but still have the right to delay if need be . As for travelling to country if a pm show ou would fine the city folk would do it For some people travelling can be an issue, from what i have seen here in my own state is people who DON"T read there gazette to see when the gates open & get there to early & sit in the sun Plus those who get there so early for no real valid reason except maybe front row. I have done the start early on a very hot day & compared to a night show night shows wins hands .i had a dog that was shown in the warmer part but when group was on it was lovely. Clubs here if a 2 day show do reverse order on one of the days so everyone gets a turn of being latter or early. the heat . I am lucky,i go down & set up & take all the crap one does ready & go home ,i can then arrive with minutes to spare & run in the ring,i have coated breeds but i do the work before i leave & just head down & show. I do think some people could adapt more for the summer months, front row seats surely isn't more important if it means driving in the heat Should say there is a club here that does the friday/sat option the problem is people work & city travel can be a pain so that doesnt mean any easier
  11. also watch for increased weight loss,Roo is good but is very lean & many dogs can not survive on it & loss to much weight
  12. What breed is the dog She can stay in denial but the novelty will soon where off & when something bad happens they only have themselves to blame . Plus the obvious a well mannered dog is one that you enjoy being around a bad mannered dog gets left out through no fault off its own
  13. Never done that with any of our pups & there has never been an issue. Our singletons where all well adjusted pups with no issues at all ,they where treated like any other litter . Yes more time was spent playing but that was it
  14. When i was a child friends had the most wonderful Pyree show & pet. They took it to work every day & was everyone.s best friend . Great breed
  15. Perth is very happy to share there heat with the rest of Australia & so happy all our shows are night shows
  16. Wit our pups they have access outside at all times we find withing a week of settling to life changes they will happily spend hrs outside without needing us on there terms . We encourage our puppy owners to follow the same thing ignore pup to teach it venture of on its own but not making it cut/dry with the door shut . I guess it depends what the routine will be latter on house.outside or both . We find allowing them to think there brave & successful works so much better than our way or no way & never had an issue in 25 years
  17. I don't buy them, whilst i don't want show dogs i can't stand those where the dogs aren't groomed & quiet frankly not even cute for the breed . I have never done it but it would easier to simply do your own either through kmart or Vista print, take your own photo's or swap between friends & you havea great calendar for the year cheap as
  18. grp 3 BIG English Setter RUIG Gordon Setter
  19. From what i have seen at shows & from people who have the breeds . Welshies are more softer & gentlier Brittanies more active & wanting to work I love the Welshies
