I was going to suggest his eye sight. My family had a corgi that lived till he was 16. At the end he was very snappy because of his bad eyesight. Hope you find out what is wrong with your boy.

Include bones as part of the meat portion. Chicken necks, lamb bones etc. Include fish and offal once a week. No rice or oats. Put the veggies and fruit through a food processor instead of cooking them. Do a search on here for BARF abd Raw diets and I am sure you will get some tips.

Block off areas of your house so the dogs can't get to them. Overnight I would puppy pen the dogs. If you can't keep an eye on them I would either have them outside or puppy pened as well untill they understand that you go outside to the toilet. Forget about the newspaper training as that only confuses them. Take him outside frequently and tell him 'go to the toilet, go to the toilet' when he does reward him with a treat.

Veggies and fruit put through the blender so they are slops. Things I always include: - container of alfala spouts - bunch of spinach (roots cut off) - 1 to 2 green capsicums (stalk cut off & seeds out) - 1 to 2 red caspsicums (stalk cut off & seeds removed) - bag of carrots - bunch of celary - 4 zuccinis - 3 to 4 oranges (peeled) - 1 pumpkin (seeds removed) - 2 to 4 apples (pips taken out) - 2 to 4 bannanas (peeled) - 8 to 10 eggs (whole including shell) - flaxseed oil (approx 250mL) - kelp (approx 100g) What else you can put in: - bunch of silverbeet - turnip - squash - sweet potato - 2 to 4 pears - half to 1 pinapple - brussel sprouts - brocoli - cauliflower - bag of beans - Apple Cider Vinegar - Vitamin C Chop up then process up in blender/food processor so that things turn to slops. Put each blender batch into a big bucket. Usually leave the eggs & flaxseed oil for things that don't blend very well like the pumpkin and carrots. Ingredients should fill up a bucket. Mix bucket with big ladel till all mixed through then put into take away containers & freeze untill needed.

Does anyone have a list of vets that are doing Titer testing in Melbourne? Is the blood all sent off to the VetPath Lab in Perth fo testing?

Burping And Farting
puggy_puggy replied to Stewie_the_Frenchie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
:D Poppy, one of my foster puppys, has the occasional sick burp and I swear that her sister, Pippy, is telapathic because she knows right away and runs over to Poppy to see if she can lick some out of her mouth. -
I wouldn't use one. Apart from the cargo hold being temprature controlled it would be horrible for the dog to pee and the pee to soak into the bed. I would suggest that make up a sign to stick on your dogs crate that says in very big writing that they are not to be left out in the heat or sun.

Sounds like he is being a little bugger and he knows he is testing you. He knows that you get upset about him peeing on his bed so he does it because he wants to peeve you off. He's trying to show you that he is the boss and he is not happy that he has to sleep downstairs in his own bed and not with you. Is he desexed? If not I would get him done soon. My pug boy, when he was young, would go and pee in my bathroom if I locked him out of my bedroom. He would do this to tell me that he was not happy with the fact that he was locked out. Also if he got a chance he would go and pee on my parents bed to tell my dad that he was the boss. A recent foster puggy of mine was peeved off at me for not allowing her to sit on the armchair with me and her pups so she went and peed in one of the doggy beds right in front of me. Really not sure what you can do other then desexing him, telling him off and continuing to change his bedding. Maybe you could let him sleep in your bedroom. Buy some polyfleece material and use that or towels in his bed so that you only have to wash them and not his whole bed each time. With the stairs I would gentley push him down them. I have 4 month old pug pups here that have been running up and down my open wooden stairs since they were 10 weeks old. Any pug that has come here and has been afraid of going down the steps I have gentley pushed down and they have overcome their fear very quickly.

7 weeks is far to young for her to have left her mum and littler mates but I guess it's done now. 7 weeks is also far to young to expect to be toilet trained and to have control over her bowels. Puppy pads make pups think they can go to the toilet inside. They may be ok for overnight but during the day I suggest taking her outside frequently. After she has eaten, after she has worken up, after she hadhad a play, at least every hour and telling her to 'go to the toilet, go to the toilet'. When she does praise her and give her a treat.

Have you tried putting a toy in her mouth when she starts chasing her tail or distracting her in another way? Spraying her with a water bottle?

Burping And Farting
puggy_puggy replied to Stewie_the_Frenchie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't know about this big dog farting theory but pugs are renound for their room clearing farts. My girl, who is mini, can make the biggest smells. As for burping, mine will do so after eating. -
Distended Stomach After Desexing?
puggy_puggy replied to Zombie Bait's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Any news? Sutures can be red and puffy from irritation. Sometimes the body doesn't like having the stitches in it and tries to reject them. Also bacteria can eneter the body down the stitch holes. This will usually subside once the stitches are removed. -
I wouldn't be feeding the offal every day. Most people will tell you that the bones are the most important part of a RAW diet and these bones need to be ones that can be totally consumed. So chicken bones and lamb bones are great. I feed a BARF diet: MONDAY Chicken Necks Slops TUESDAY Fish Slops WEDNESDAY Chicken Necks Yoghurt Slops THURSDAY Bone Kangaroo Slops FRIDAY Chicken Necks Offal Slops SATURDAY Bone Beef or Lamb Slops SUNDAY Beef or Lamb or Kangaroo or Fish Slops

If the are quite happy within themselves and just coughing and have gunky noses then I wouldn't bother with the vets. If they stop eating and don't seem right then some antibiotics might be needed. So wait and see. My pug girl had a strain of KC a month or so ago. She coughed maybe 3 times and for the next two weeks had a stuffy snotty nose. I just let her ride it out and she was fine.

Stupid Dogs - Stupid Me

I wouldn't be to worried if the vet is going to see it tomorrow. You could bath it with salt water and put some betadine on it tonight. -
I would try a human antihistamine first. Claratyne (one tablet a day) works best for my itchie boy if he is bad. I also would be taking a look at what you are feeding. Do you feed dry food? Many people have found that by switching their dogs diet to either a RAW or BARF diet can eliminate skin problems. I would only use cortisone as a last resort and then only for very short spells.

Brachycephalic Breeds And Surgery
puggy_puggy replied to Poo d'état's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If you are happy with your vet then they should be fine doing the desexing. -
No such thing as a flea injection. Have you tried Capstar tablets? Are you getting rid of all the fleas in your yard, house, car?
-
The yellow froth is just the dog throwing up and getting out of it's body the bit of bone it can't digest. Beef bones are very hard. Maybe just feed lamb and chicken bones.
-
Very interesting. Maybe the OP just needs to change her dog onto a RAW or BARF diet.

Studies are showing high protein/energy exacerbates anxiety, aggression etc in dogs already prone to those conditions. Well if this be the case things are extremely grim that humans can have stuffed up the species so badly that a carnivore can no longer eat meat!!! If you told me it was carbs causing too much energy & aggression, now that I would believe, every commercial product is full of rubbish like rice, cereal, corn, & dogs would rarely if ever eat this stuff in the wild, they arent meant too! Dogs are ment to eat high protein diets. I don't get it.
