  1. Your argument is not subjective but there is no, and never will be, any conclusive proof so it is never going to be completely debunked, certainly not today on DOL a few days after he made the comments. However, much of your argument can be and has been debunked. I did it in the other thread for one. I showed proof that you agree with what he said. So, the conclusion has to be that you support the suppression of facts. I think people should leave you alone and accept it, but you have to accept where you are wrong aswell. Instead, your saying things that don't make any sense, thats why people are making fun posting examples of logical fallacies.
  2. Yes they are a joke they are not interested. Its not all their fault though you have to understand aswell that people are whingers, you can just imagine how many bogus and frivolous reports they get on a regular basis. But in this particular case he'd already been there so he knew it was not bullshit. Ring them and tell them about someone owning an alleged "Pitbull" though they will probably drop everything and be there like ghostbusters.
  3. ... or cross breeds If I were to have one point of contention with what he said, it would be the use of the term "Mastiff". I think he is using it generically to mean all Mastiff breeds, including the Neo and Bull which is not an accurate use of the term. But by the commonly understood definition of Mastiff, to mean all Mastiff breeds, yes thats right, Mastiffs, Staffordshire's, and cross breeds whilst not exclusively the types of dogs accused of being Pitbulls make up a sizeable proportion, that is fact, if you oppose it then you support supressing facts. Alot of folks do take that approach. There is a strong case in support of the APBT and for the folly of BSL, there is no need for fantasy land here it only undermines us.
  4. Sorry I feel that based on events to date it is more than reasonable to suggest that it is possible that the dogs involved in this particular attack may have been Mastiffs, Staffordshire BT's, or cross breeds. Its a fair bet that he does have evidence showing the Pitbulls are frequently misidentified and misreported. In the event he doesn't it would be awfully easy to collate some. Media watch do it all the time, i'd like to see them get around to this issue it will be laugh exposing how weak the basis of their never ending allegations are. Firstly its not wrong, and you agree. Second, It is not my view that he is confusing the public, it is my view that his aim is to educate the public not confuse them.
  5. Yes it is fact, and you have shown clearly that you agree with it. This would appear to be your contention and you have a right to see it that way, but this is quite different to accusing him of saying something which is not true.
  6. Furor on this issue exists amongst the majority of APBT owners, supporters and other folks who oppose BSL. Having said that not sure I see the relevance. You agree that Staffy's are sometimes mis-identified as Pitbulls. You do not agree that Mastiffs are "often" misidentified Pitbulls, but you appear to acknowledge that it does happen. You do agree that cross breeds are mistaken for Pitbulls. The part of Linke's address you oppose is the following But this statement is consistent with your point of view.
  7. You agree that most people cannot identify a Pitbull. You agree that more often than not the reports involving alleged Pitbulls are innacurate. Do you disagree that Mastiff breeds, Staffordshire BT's, and cross breeds are often mis identified as Pitbulls ?
  8. Thats correct Moselle. I do think that is what he meant. Staffy, Mastiff, Cross breed, ect He was not blaming any other breed, he was saying that these are amongst the breeds, including cross breeds, that are often mis-reported as Pitbulls.
  9. Moselle, he is not blaming those particular breeds, he is saying that those are amongst the breeds, including cross breeds, that could have been involved in the attack and are frequently falsely reported as American Pitbulls.
  10. Cool really Iv heard of dogs doing that before. Would love to see pics
  11. Yes please disregard all these "experts" who have a checklist of what makes a dominant dog. They do not know what they are talking about and simply repeat old one shoe fits all misnomers. An example I once took my dog to puppy preschool. The girl was qualified with some bs dog training certificate where they obviously told her all these things, and she used to repeat it to the class. She had convinced people with normal puppies that they were dominant. One particular dog I recall was clearly submissive, but because it sat on the bed and a few other things she told the owner the dog was dominating her Lol. Do not worry about labels. If a behavior develops which is not acceptable to you deal with it, thats all you have to worry about
  12. Woah aren't they are amazing, so fascinating. So glad they are back to safety.
  13. Yes my dog does that very strange really but im used to it. I don't mind her doing it no big deal. But she will run over and tip things over when she gets over excited, chairs, my workshop stool, water bowls, ect. Actually the water bowl thing did start to become a problem so I had to cast her an 80kg one out of concrete
  14. Err ... yes Lol I was over visiting with my neighbour one day where I lived a few years ago. And she says, you know LoPan, I can hear you talking to your dog all the time, the way you talk to her sounds like you are talking to your girlfriend This is coming from someone who used to talk to her lizard ;) edit: Oh no actually I think she said are you as nice to your girlfriend as you are to you dog ? ;) It was something like that can't quite recall now
  15. He wanted a JRT, she wanted what she wanted, so he goes and gets 2 JRT's ? :D He does sound like a jerk who does not respect your daughter, any wonder you dont like him. As for him being scared, well thats bad luck. I am not a relationship expert, but what I do know is that we have to make sacrifices sometimes. He needs to return one of the dogs, and get "unscared" because getting a large dog is important to his girlfriend and it is not an unreasonable request. His 35 years old not 3.5. However good points have been made regarding the bringing of a dog into a household with someone who doesn't like the dog or would be mean to the dog, so a genuine attitude change would be needed in any case.
  16. Gday Jed. Glad to see back. All the best with your health, and sorting everything out, one thing at a time.
  17. Its not crossing the line. What line ? Most people try and impose some belief or another on someone else, this forum is an excellent example If some people want to do it with religion it's upto them. Your response can range from accepting their information, engaging them in debate, politely telling them your not interested, or telling them to **** off.
  18. Ears can be damaged easily in a fighting situation, so if they are not there, they cannot be targeted or damaged. By that reasoning the ears are cropped. It is not about excuses it is about "reasons".
  19. It all comes from the Hadith, not the word of God in the Quran. Cultural traditions (the books of the Hadith) and the word of god get mixed up, or are often treated as one and the same. Confusion abounds and no body knows what is going on. Different Muslims will tell you different story about how Islam views dogs, most of them don't really know. The reason is, the confusion is passed down from generation to generation. So some Muslims which consider themselves to be devout will indeed keep dogs as pets, others realize they can but because of the way they have been raised do not feel affection for dogs or are afraid of them.
  20. The poor dingoes have been shot to the point they are a threatened species, and people are still persecuting them. If someone is breeding purebred dingoes and releasing them good on him, he is doing his bit for conservation, because let me tell you, if the government does not smarten up the only place you will see pure bred dingoes is pictures in books. That lady, pathetic. Only thinking about herself. Look at this "Dingoes are not native to this country" Neither are you, and neither are the animals you brought here. The dingoes were here first, so if you have a problem, you will have to find a way to deal with it that does not involved harming dingoes directly or indirectly. Dingoes should be protected Australia wide.
  21. Mate, this was answered in detail a few weeks ago there is a long thread in general about it.
  22. Hey Wobbly good to here from you again ! What a big move good for you. I hope you and Jarrah will be very happy all the best
  23. What ? This is whats called a sympathetic fallacy. It means that people make up their own truth to suit their beliefs. So for example, I do not like it that a dog came into my yard, broke into the bird cage and ate the birds, therefore I do not believe it is in a dogs instinct to do so. If it is not a dogs natural instinct to eat the neighbours birds, then it will happen less. It IS in a dogs natural instinct to eat the neighbours birds, JSK
