  1. All I have done in this thread, essentially, is say that the attacking dog probably wasnt an APBT, based on a pattern of false reporting in the past. People here are saying IT WAS !! without the facts. So now if you require facts your a "bleating" "numnuts". I thought thats what you where if you drew definite conclusions without the facts. People become brainwashed gradually. A cultural shift over time is seen sparked by a change of legislation. Its seen in all areas and now it IS starting to happen with BSL, even amongst previously enlightened dog people. All of a sudden the media does report responsibly, we are sick of hearing "everyone blames pitbulls", we are tired of drawing conclusions based on facts, and we are referencing all kinds of links to "prove" how much APBT's attack people. This effect will continue to snowball and a small minority will keep thier perspective in the long term and its in part thanks to them these laws will eventually be revoked.
  2. Dont know whos posts you been reading but not mine. I think your reading baseless claims made by others and running with them as various others have done in this thread. I havnt accused anyone in this thread of supporting BSL, and I have not said that Pitbulls never attack humans. Your post sounds like "something you prepared earlier", because it doesnt seem to follow a great deal of what I have said here.
  3. No not at all. Responsible breeders breed thier dogs to the breed standard.
  4. I am. Realistically, most APBT's are less potentially human aggressive than most other breeds given that they have historically been selectively bred to be docile toward humans. "Could have" "Couldn't have" "Do I think". Assumptions and lack of facts. One guy says "In reality it was a restricted breed" based on could have's and maybe's, then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. Poodlefan, im not closing my mind, im doing the opposite.
  5. Yeh sure you are. That women thought the same thing as do all the other lunchbox experts in Australia. Because you say so ? Another one of your breed id's or did a council officer tell you what breed it was. I cant speak for what anyone else does but personally I do accept that APBT's can and have attacked people ofcourse. If you read my posts you will see that. Im mearly expressing doubt over this article because USUALLY are not involved in these attacks, breed misidentifcation and media sensationalising is usually at play. I think the problem around this place is one person says something then everyone else copies without knowing the facts, how ironic. Now are you all reading an article different to the ones I have read, because I have not seen where the owner has verified his dog is an APBT.
  6. Yeh real funny. Like the women who's dog got attacked down the beach the other month. I pass her as shes leaving and she says her dog was attacked by a Pitbull. Got down there and said to the guy thats a Bull Arab, he says yeh ... Nonetheless, Another one for the Pitty. Had this dog attacked yours, you would have been doing the same thing as her, saying it was a Pitbull, because you think you know something and you dont care if you hurt our breeds reputation in the process.
  7. I dont know I havnt been to that location. If theres 50 times the amount of APBT's as anything else then it would stand to reason Otherwise, Yes it is nonsense. About equal to the report out of Brisbane (or the Gold Coast, dont recall) recently that blamed the Staffy for some outrageous number of attacks that totally by far and away dwarfed all other breeds. Figures go by what people say and that is all. So if in QLD there is some kind of Staffy frenzy going on at the moment then everyone runs around and labels everything a Staffy. They show up at the medical centre for stitches, "What breed was it" "A Staffy", and then thats it theres the mark against that breeds name its as simple as that, the facts are irrelevant. So here Australia wide (except maybe QLD, maybe they have got some kind of new thing where they deny the existence of APBT's because of thier great laws, now its the Staffies turn) the frenzy is on the APBT, so when an attack happens, the people involved say "Pitbull". However This facts of this case probably do not involve a Pitbull at all so it doesnt matter.
  8. An APBT probably hasnt put a child in hospital thats the point. It sure would be
  9. No that is false so I wont take any part in it. I believe in defending the breed based on the facts, the truth and its merits, there a plenty of them. People that have to resort to lies are people with something to hide. Thats the way to win, telling lies is the way to come undone. They ARE the ultimate kiddy pet, but they are tough aswell and I wont say there not because that would be untrue. Theres alot at stake for our dogs aswell.
  10. People are not "harping on" about "protecting the animals that attacked them". People know from experience that the times APBT's are INFACT involved in an attack on a human are rare, 9/10 times (atleast) our innocent breed is made the scapegoat. Obviously as unfortunate as it is that the kids have been attacked supporting the APBT and casting doubt on the reporting of the breed involved doesnt take anything away from what happened. Accepting a bunch of bullsh*t reporting doesnt make you compassionate it makes you a fool. If you reject it doesnt mean you dont care about the people that where attacked.
  11. Ozziesnakes you could be Mahatma Gandhi doesnt make the dog that attacked your niece a Pitbull. All my best wishes to your neice for a full and speedy recovery from myself and im sure from everyone on the BSL forum.
  12. Politicians are nothing but useless spineless puppets. I refuse to beleive anyone could be this dumb its impossible. He must know, he just doesnt know what else to do to try and appease people. His probably pleased the way the media report things because it narrows his target.
  13. A vet isnt law enforcement they cant take a dog you walk in there with. They can think they have whatever policies or laws they like but they cant sieze a dog from someone. PeliLuvR I know how you must feel you did good getting him off the street hope he falls into the hands of good people at the pound they often do.
  14. The American people are incharge of this one there the ones that influence the sponsors, and the sponsors have ultimate say in who gets signed and who doesnt, pretty disapointing. Not long ago all the American media was slamming Vick and people where angry what happened to that. I remember one newspaper headline "Micheal Vick, All American Jack Ass". Im watching NFL right now infact. They dont seem very bright. Quarterbacks just stand there and hesitate, then end up with a pile of defenders ontop of them before they throw the ball, even though they can seem them coming a mile off. They do the same thing over and over :D
  15. Pretty amazing stuff. Thats not a Pitbull thing thats a dog thing ... mans best friend :D
  16. Go Christine Grahame and friends another win for the good guys on the way fingers crossed sounds promising
  17. Im sure Elliot has had a wonderful life all 17 years of it, a tough little mate whos done so well. Its hard when this time comes with a long time friend but a good time to reflect on life with him aswell and always remember him.
  18. Alright well you continue to provide your practical help and dont worry about what everyone else does. What is your practical help ? Oh yeh get your dog tempermant tested and "if you have a friendly doggy" you have nothing to worry about. I remember you saying that.
  19. What an outrage This is 3rd world style, backward and without sense, logic, or fairness.
  20. Well thats a very ignorant attitude. What about all the other guarding breeds, and dogs which are used for guarding ? They lack the correct tempermant, that is what makes them dangerous. A dog which is confident and self assured in the face of a threat is a safe and reliable guard dog. The standard also says it is docile with family and tolerant of children or did you miss that part.
  21. Absoulutely yes there is a domino effect, it will continue and spread all the way to the backwaters of Australia.
  22. Sounds like a fantastic and quality breed. In Brazil the dog has to pass tempermant testing before bieng awarded a title that would seem pretty obtuse to most in this country. The standard also says So in other words its like the breeds we already have only better because its been bred and tested for tempermant and form not just form.
  23. There is nothing wrong with the breed standard for the Fila saying it should be hostile to strangers. If infact it does I havnt read it. Where its kept thats what its used for, I suppose. Iv got a few friends from various African countries for example. They say that "pet" dogs dont exist. Dogs are used for guarding home and business and they have to be ferocious. Different worlds its easy to critisize here in Australia from the lap of luxury but other people do need working dogs. Many of the ANKC breeds have the same background. Some in the distant past, some in the not so distant past, and some which still work overseas. Here we breed them as pets and we end up with dogs that remain aloof and make good candidates for guard dogs if trained, but otherwise make excellent family pets. That would be the goal with the fila brasileiro aswell. The other restricted breeds are all common family pets including the Dogo and the Tosa which are show/pet bred in Europe and the USA. Id imagine Australian breeders would look at dogs from the Netherlands, for example, as opposed to Haiti.
  24. This isnt right, SharpeiRescue. 500 metres sure is a long way.
  25. They havnt caused "such a danger", not today or ever. They are a government scape goat, and victims of media hype and a mis informed public. Dogo Argentino's exists in Australia in small numbers, as for the others, I personally dont know, not as far as I am aware.
