Nekhbet hopefully I will explain it a little better. If I sit down anywhere outside, or if I am standing still - like to put the washing on the line. Both Pups will come up to me and one ( mainly Molly the Golden Retreiver ) will want to sit on me and play fight with Chuzzy ( lab ) as if to keep him away. It doesn't matter how much I roar at them or say ahhhhhh in a gruff tone they just ignore me. Its like I have never spoken. If I sit on the step, she is on me playfighting with Chuzzy. If I sit on a chair they are under the chair, between my legs play fighting, wrestling. Molly is a calmer dog than Chuzzy.. They do get one on one time. All I want to do is to teach them to be calm around me. I just want to sit out and be able to have a colffee on the back step without them wanting to consume me. Now when they carry on I just get up and walk away from them. Its quite frustrating. They are 16 weeks on the weekend. We were meant to do our first lesson of Dog obedience last Monday, but I had a sick child and no one to babysit. I try to be calm when all this is going on, but end up getting frustrated and cranky ;) UPDATE: I went out this morning and with lots of ROARING they did settle for about 5 secs, then one would come back to see if they could rev it up again. It was either one at times who would come back. Now I have a health prob and I literally can not keep roaring like I did this morning. My throat is soooo sore and I am now having probs with vocal cords /speaking Anything non vocal i can try?

I am roaring so loudly I am waiting for one of the neighbours to knock on my door...and its still not working. I am doing one on one still.
-
Well this morning it didn't work Any suggestions?
-
Well I have already tried them out together this morning. Sat on the back step with them. On the whole they were pretty good. If I was really loud Chuzzy my male Lab would stop and sit Thanks for the input, I am already getting better results then before Luvsdogs OH came on a walk late yesterday with me. Molly is already alot more confident and not looking for me.

Thanks....Yes I need to roar at them. I growl at them, but no roar. Which they don''t listen to. Let you know of my progress. OH and I took them on a walk tonight. It helps with another pair of hands.

Thanks Glad we have started one on one

We have just started this week. We started "Theory" puppy school last Monday and are taking the dogs on Monday for there first lesson. One of the things we have been told was to do one on one

I have 2 puppies that are a day apart. They are just 15 weeks. One is a Golden Retriever and the other is a Lab. A bitch and a dog. On the whole they are good pups. I walk them at least every other day and do other stuff with them if I am not walking. My problem is if I sit , or even just hanging washing out they will come and try and get on me, sit on my feet and fight , wrestle. I have tried ignoring them, pushing them off each other and giving them a dirty look ...but they are just not stopping. When Rex and Sam were alive they used to do the same thing and they were 2 and 9. Its like I am having de ja vu when they do it. Any ideas how I can get them to just come up to me and be calm? Its almost like sibling rilvary, one doesn't want the other near me. Molly is the one who will always be trying to get Chuzzy away...my 8 and 6 year old kids do this too Any help on them would be a help too Any ideas?

Rexiam I wouldn't say he is quiet - but he's a relatively sensible lab even at this age so we're very lucky !! But then he doesn't have a naughty companion to egg him on like yours do - have you got any updated photos of your two ? I remember that gorgeous shot of them in the back of the ute. Here is our Archie after a little swim in the clam shell yesterday .... I tried to take a shot of him 'dreaming' by himself today but he saw me out the window How cute is Archie! When we went to look at Chuzzy's litter there we 2 choc lab's, but they were not interested in us. Chuzzy on the other hand could not keep away from us, so that sold us I have been having camera problems and have just got OH to bring his camera home from work. Will upload the recent photos I took soon.

If he is quiet ...don't worry! thats not a bad thing I have 2 13 week old pups...a lab and a retriever. We have double trouble here they are anything but quiet Can we swap

Its late and I am little confused.. Are you trying to train them to do other things while you are walking two, or having trouble just walking them together? Rex( 2 Retriever Male ) and Sam ( 9 Retriever X lab female) used to be awful to walk together and I eventually stopped. Sam was always a puller. One day I just said "Nope, I want to walk them together and I will" Well I kept plodding along and one of the things that worked for me was everytime Sam would pull I would change direction. i used a choke chain as well. Rex was a darling and he never was a problem, so just having to get one under control was easier. No treats.... i don't buy treats for the kids at the supermarket, so the dogs don't get any either. Its just a walk in my eyes. Sam used to always go nuts if another dog would come along, in the end she didn't even look at another dog. Before they both passed away 10 weeks ago walks were just wonderful. I was calm, dogs were calm and kids used to come on there bikes too. I treasure those memories. Don't give up and don't stress...you will get there. Think Positive and it will happen. We know have 2, 13 week old puppies...lab and a Retriever. So far so good They like to walk on the same side together, and thats fine with me. After about 5 mins they settle in to it and so far so good.

Our puppy tends to go to the toilet on the back verandah. Its very wide and tiled and he is just doing it everywhere. There are 4 steps, quite big that he has to go down to the yard. I am not sure if this is what is stopping him, or if its just puppy...when you gotta go you gotta go If I catch him I of quickly take him to the grass. Any ideas on how to get him to go on the grass, instead of the verandah? Do you think that he will improve and go down the stairs as he gets bigger?? He has been outside for a little while, have bought him in and then he squats and pees not even after 1 min of him being in! As he has been outside...I am maybe just giving him too much credit, thinking that he has gone?? I have been cleaning up the verandah constantly, but my concern is if he is going to constantly smell his business is he going to think thats the p[lace to go?? Its been a few years since i have had a puppy

Kaz I think SHYZE had that with Zoe. I will have to get her online to tell you what she used. As far as I know she had good results.

After being missing for nearly 3 weeks it has been a relief to know that you are at peace with Rex. You didn't seem to fret, but after 2 days of losing him, it must have been your time to continue your journey together on the other side. Knowing this has helped ease the pain. After just over 9 years with us, we were so lucky to have had you and will cherish our time together. So run free with Rex and I look forward to the day that we will all be together.

So sorry for your loss

I have just lost 2 of my special angels 3 days apart and i know that I will be the same as you in 4 years We can only think of our reunion on the other side

Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts It is lovely to know that there are fellow dog/animal lovers that know what it is like. Miss 8 has just been out in tears..the first mind you. She is worried that he won't be able to find his way around heaven Have put her right and she has gone to bed. Master 5 has Rex's collar and tag hanging on his door knob tonight. We buried Rex today and Sam ( our other dog ) just broke my heart. She knows what has happened...you can read it on her face. We have been giving her lots of extra cuddles and love. Kids and I took her for a walk this afternoon... I could just imagine Rex beside us having the time of his life.
-
Thanks everyone. Tomorrow will be a hard one. We will pick him up from the vets and bring him home to be buried. Sam our Lab X can also say good bye. He will be buried next to our other special boy "saffie" the rabbit in my avatar. :p

Have been having lots of problems with Rex my Retriever for the last few weeks.... He ended up at the vets again tonight and ended up having to be opened up. The vet has called me about 15 mins ago to tell me that what was suspect bloat was not He was riddled through his intestines with large masses, possibly cancer. They wouldn't even begin to know where to start to fix him. So now my boy has been PTS and I am devastated. Rex you were the most gentle, sweet, fun loving, happy dog that I have ever have the privledge of owning. Master 3 says you were cute, friendly and cuddly and Miss 8 thinks you were always there for her when she fell over and was really kind. I waited nearly 20 years to get a Golden Retriever and you were worth every minute of that wait. Your loving, giving nature will always be apart of our house and we will never forget you. We will always love you and treasure the 2 years and 4 months that we had you in our lives. Tomorrow I am certain the world will not be as bright as it was today with you in it. We all know that you will be bounding over the brige looking for all your friends to play with. What will help us all is knowing that you will be pain free.. So farewell our special boy and we look forward to our cuddles on the other side.

I replied to you in the Dane Thread, just wanted to add what lovely photos you posted The only Danes that I've met in person are Doler's. Barkons, Liebs and your Xander. I feel it was a honour to meet the big darling boy. My memory of him will be of Xander and Paddy totally intruiged with Barkons rats.
