  1. What a lovely story. Its refreshing from the normal doom and gloom
  2. I too just found out and was so sad to read it. He was loved by many and was a wonderful compaion. RIP Daddy You were one special boy.
  3. My two gorgeous pups died at 6 months old after having 2 vaccinations for parvo. They were vaccinated at 8 and 12 weeks. If it is in your area I would not be leaving the house with my dogs. After seeing what it did to my two I would NEVER want to risk the lives of my new dogs. JMO. When my two passed I did so much research my head nearly blew off.
  4. I am so happy for you!!!!!!! It has bought me to tears. We had to bring our Molly and Chuzzy home in a black bag. Its heart warming to hear that you have a happy result.
  5. bella_bear I am crossing everything for your baby. Hope that she has turned the corner and is on the improve
  6. Yes Nekhbet is spot on. Plasma and fluids are your best chance. Other than that pray to whoever or whatever you believe in. We lost Molly and Chuzzy in October. 6 months old and in the prime of there lives. They were healthy and in beautiful condition. Thinking of you and praying that your new puppy will be ok. Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do but wait. Thats the hardest thing to do I realise. I found DOL my sanity as everyone understands what you are going through. Please let us know how your little puppy is doing.
  7. Molly & Chuzzy both attended puppy preschool and loved it. I was really happy with the whole thing and would happily do it again. I would ask around , check it out, before I took my dog to any Puppy Preschool. Just to make sure what they were like. Miss 8 took Molly and it gave her so much more confidence in handling and training.
  8. Are you walking at a really brisk pace or is it leisurely? Is he pulling behind you or happy to walk? OH used to take Sam to work with him on huge Farms when she was that age. She would run as much as she wanted and if she was tired would stay in the lunch shed or hop up on the ute. She was a Retriever Cross Lab. We never had hip issues with her. She passed away at 9 from a heart attack, so if there were hip issues to come we will never know.
  9. Rav This is screaming danger and run as fast as you can from this one. Your MIL hasn't been very nice to you in the past. I can only see this ending with you in tears not her. Tell her you are having camera probs
  10. I would be exhausted too :D Looks like she had fun. love the ball in her mouth :D

    Savannah

Savannah run free . MTD at this sad time for you and your family.
  12. Rexiam - I should mention too that some people have noticed that their PRA dogs have an increase in the 'shine' of the eye at night when the condition starts to develop. Again, it may or may not be relevant to you - I hope not. Thanks lappiemum I will look at him tonight
  13. No, I was only thinking this morning that I will have to contact them and ask.
  14. Thank you for all the information I am hoping that its nothing, but when I see him look/act in the way he does it does not sit right with me. I think that the vet has said that a op;thamologist comes to town once a month. I will definately get him checked out and ask vet about a DNA check. Tassie Thanks for commenting about my dogs. We lost Sam and Rex 3 days apart last April. Rex was 2 ( cancer ) Sam 9 (dropped dead) Molly and Chuzzy have bought us such joy after such sadness - losing our 2 special dogs has been devastating and OH and I still get quite upset about it. I have to stay positive that Chuzzy will be ok. Sonic How is your Lab? Does he have much sight?
  15. Chuzzy is a 6 month old Labrador. I have noticed for about a month that at times he doesn't seem to be able to see things at a distance. He will put his head up , then back as if he is trying to focus on whatever it is he is trying to look at. He can be way down the yard, I walk out side and he will start barking and going nuts like he doesn't know its me. Molly doesn't react as she know that its me. He is getting desexed next week and I am going to get the vet to have a look at him then. In the meantime I thought that I would ask here if anyone else has experienced anythinkg like this.
  16. I have always desexed mine at 6 months and it hasn't been until I came onto DOL that i have encountered these discussions So unfortunately I can not answer your question. To me whoever the dog was / grew into, they were just themselves :D Molly and Chuzzy have just turned 6 months old - Molly today and Chuzzy yesterday and I have booked them into get desexed next week. The thought of leaving them too much longer and heaven forbid we have a unplanned litter would push me over the edge I will take my chances of having leggier / less boof headed dogs dogs Hope you find the answer to your question
  17. You sure have been through alot with your crew Hope thig settle down for you soon. When can Electra get the Elizabethan collar off? How is Rhino handling it all ?
  18. I had to have a little giggle at this as I breed and show rabbits. So mine have never tried rabbit - no help here.
  19. OH is very subdued as I was the one saying to him"Are you crazy...no way are we getting too puppies" Of course he wore me down....even tho i know that I am the one who does 99% of the work - he is often away with work. Will have to say that he is stepping up to the plate. The fact he came and sat with Master 6 and watched us at puppy preschool is a great effort on him. Plus he is coming on walks too. I think he can see how much better they are. We will get there ..eventually - I HOPE! Could you tell me for my own curiousity. We have a delta trainer in town. If I wanted to ever get someone out, how do I find another type of trainer? I live out Central West of NSW. When you suggested professional help..I wondered where I would find someone??
  20. I have firstly stopped worrying so much and secondly I think I have slowed with the reading. After reading all of Cesar Millan's books and watching DVD's , going to see him live , then reading lots from here my head has been spinning Just think i put too much pressure on myself and the pups. I have relaxed heaps and keep telling myself they are only pups. They are not going to be perfect Then after going to puppy preschool...OMG they are soooo well behaved I realised how much work we have put into them and they are really going great guns I am more relaxed and not thinking negative things. Yes they are still at times palyfighting on me, but I am handling it more relaxed and they seem to be responding better to me. The fighting on me is less and less.
  21. Well i am replying to my own question and yes I have solved it myself Threw away all the stuff that is going on in my head and just did what I have always done with my dogs. Think I am over anxious that I will stuff up too pups and will not have 2 good dogs like we did with Rex and Sam. So no pressure on myself and no more reading / watching DVD's til I need to.
  22. They will sit and be calm for treats. I will try that a bit more. I love your sig...they are sooo cute! They listen for a quick second, I will say good, then back on in to it they go. Am I expecting too much too quick? Should I be happy that I have a look? The lady from training has info for me and I will see her on Monday for a opinion. Thanks
