  1. Oh can we have some pictures can we can we please, ust so I can go ewwww gross We as far as the Euk goes I was told today that there was some kind of contamination at some point and there was no stock available as they were having trouble getting the contamination (what ever it was) under control. Not sure how true it is, the prop of the shop told me that. You might want to look into it further just thought I'd let you know. Rally o sounds like exactly what you seen it is really fun and you do do it with a group, it will be interesting to see how we go with it. At the moment it is just fun and good for the dogs to be learning some different stuff instead of the basic mundane boring obedience stuff. A few that go to obedience rain hail or shine are getting a little fed up with the same old thing. When we have a crack at some evening get togethers Shan, Terri and I might be able to give you a demo if we get good enough. might be good for a laugh!!
  2. Funny you should say that becasue I have just been looking at the feeding guide of the two and it seems you have to feed a lot more of the nutro than the eagle pack. If the ingredients are similar you would think the guide would be similar. It all too bloody confusing!! If you have to feed a lot more then it makes it really a lot more expensive than EP Even if it is only a few $ difference in each type. So just to compare the two with the feeding guide 15 Kilos of Nutro you should feed 225g and 450g, 225g for moderate activity and 450g for active dogs and EP for 18 kilos you should feed 184g So going by the guide you nearly need to feed twice as much nutro to be the same amount as EP?? I see what your saying BB but I already also feed RMB, wings, necks and a few other extras most days (not all at once of course )and the younger ones get a cup (115g) and Cooper gets 2 cups of EP a day, but going by this formula for Nutro if I went by thier guide I'd have to feed them twice that much therefor making it twice as expensive which seems rather ridiculous. Am I missing something?? Just looking at it the wrong way??
  3. You have lights Lucky you!! Well we train on a Sunday morning and there has been many a week that me and the others couple of trainers turn up (I guess we have too ) to no one else, die hard dog tragics for sure and then been silly enough to train in the rain. we do have a few big trees that we try to get a bit of shelter under. We only have a couple of attendants that will usually come in all weather. It's the really hot days that I dislike.
  4. Hi Guys, I was about to make a thread about Nutro this evening when I come across this one. I am over not being able to get eagle pack when I want it. In Geelong on the weekend not luck, then at our local pet stock today the lady there told me she can't get it at the moment, however she did have a bag of holistic chicken that was a couple of weeks out of date either that or holistic duck. She said there is no gaurentee when she will be able to get any more. She then mentioned the Nutro which I really hadn't heard of and also never seen it stocked there before (not that I was looking for it) Anyhow I have read the phamplet and looked at the website and it does look good and a big bonus that it is made in OZ now!! Looks as though from what you guys have said that you have been very happy with it. Question for those who feed it, what is the amounts to feed like would someone be able to have a look at the directions on the bag if they have one, for how much I would need to feed between 10 - 15 kilo. I would just like to compare, also the price of 15 kilos compared to the EP is there a lot of difference? For anyone feeding Pro plan at the moment they are giving away a free collar or lead from driza bone (leather) with every 15 kilo bag at pet stock. edited to add I just found the feeding guilde on the web site.
  5. Hey JJ, do you get your eukanuba at petstock? Have you had trouble getting it and have you heard about the shortage and the probs they are having with it. I had an interesting talk with one of our local food suppliers today about dog dry food. Eagle pack is next to impossible to get and there was a problem with Euk.
  6. We don't do a lot of on leash walking out and about, mostly we go to off lead parks and the beach, but if we ever have dogs come up to us and the dogs are on leash, I make a judgement call and if I decide the dog looks friendly and is not displaying any signs of agressive behaviour I let the leads loose and let my lot say hello and it's all good. Otherwise if we see a not so friendly looking dog I will avoid or also boot if I had to (have never had to so far) My oldest dog is a very good judge of doggy character and usually if the approaching dog is not friendly I wil be able to tell by Coopers body language before I get to judge for myself. As far as puling dogs off each other if there is a fight, you can do so much more damage. I was witness to an incident a couple of weeks ago where a dog attacked my friends dog and the owner of the attacking dog pulled his dog off, what he didn't realize was his dog had my friends dog firmly between his teeth. This resulted in her side basically being pulled away from her body, she is fine now but it could have been a lot worse, what if he had of had her by the throat?? She may not be here to day. A pic of my friends dog after a dog was pulled off her. It looks as though the wound only needs stitching but where the gash is and the tooth hole at the bottom in between all the skin had come away as a result of the dog being pulled off as he had a hold of her, so she had to have a full anesthetic and surgery to sort it all out, luckily she didn't need a drain tube as she couldn't be operated on till the next day and some of the skin underneith had started to mend itself back together.
  7. what an aweful thing to happen. WHat are her chances has the vet given you any idea?? Hope she pulls through, sending positive vibes your way for little Mia!
  8. What a little stunner she is gorgeous!
  9. Well good luck for next week Jess. Just wondering has anyone ever done any rally o stuff? We have just started to do some basic rally o at obedience it is great fun and something different to get the dogs thinking a bit more. We were trying to find different ways to keep the dogs and our interest so we thought we would give it a go.
  10. Mmmm the gsd thing, there is a lot in it, all very confusing and a bit of conflicting info if you google. Sounds like your well onto it! Not your new car Pandii? Any pics here (dol)
  11. It will probably be after training round lunchtimish, will txt you time and place if your keen, anyone else? Does anyone know if the horse thing at the pony club goes all weekend?
  12. I've never heard of vispat so can't be any help there it is funny the perception of people with bigger dogs gsds and rotti is particular, Shan was saying today she has been going to visit with Maws and the same thing has happened. Just a question for a gsd lady like yourself, there is an old guy at the park who we see a bit and he always talks about his alsations, apparently he had them for years, I would have thought anyone who owned a gsd would call it by it's proper name and there is something about calling them alsations that is just not right. One of my past obedience instructors, you might know her Faye bolden, explained it to me one day but I have forgotten what the reason was? I found this thread http://www.dogspot.in/difference-between-a...epherd-dog-gsd/ But talk about mixed ideas on the right and wrong.
  13. Dogs that are happy to play are fine it is only really aggression they are looking at. The assessor said to me they don't expect all dogs to like each other as this is just a false reality. Tully barked a little bit but that was fine, she doesn't bark aggressively just likes to tell every dog not to get to close :D she was a lot more relaxed than I expected her to be. The other little dog that was there barked a lot more tha Tully. Really the reaction to other dogs is just incase you come into contact with another dog on a visit, so it would have to be a severe reaction for them not to pass a dog. The best thing you can do is subject your dog to lots of people in lots of different situations. But if she is well socialized you should be fine. Ha listen to me I sound like an old hand now
  14. Theresa, what a great achievment for Sue! Well my girls passed thier Delta assessment :D So proud of my girlies they were awesome. If anyone wants full story see here, update page 5 http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...01052&st=60
  15. Yes for sure, I have been going to test for a while but it just hasn't been the right time also I knew Tully just wasn't quite ready but with a bit of work and after visiting my MIL in respite and seeing how much joy it brings to the residents and also to the girls when they go I got my act into gear! I would have been devestated if they didn't pass!!
  16. Congrats to you guys too, it was a little nerve racking but Shan had already been through it so she had told me not to worry and it was easy as (she knew my guys would pass ) The ladys and the assessor were lovely and wouldn't let us go with out having a cuppa first! Lacy thought the whole place was great she took herself inside for a sticky beak, how embarrassing Shan went and got her out! Didn't realize I would have to have my photo taken today I would have ran a dye through my hair Just hoping the grey doesn't show out in the photos. What they had to do was very basic stuff, go for a little walk on lead do a sit, the assessor then held the dog and i walked away and back, then I walked away again and had to call the dog. The a group of people (one with a walking frame)had to mill around and roughly pat/handle the dog. The assessor hugged the dog tight then shouted loudly at the dog then gave a little tap on the back side. and that was about it. He also observed how the dogs were with the other dogs that were there. Lacy wasn't phased by the tap up the bum but Tully spun around as if to say hey why did you do that. poor little poppet, she was a little confused like one minute your hugging me next minute your shouting at me!! Anyway I was very proud of my girlies as you guys have probly figured out by now and we had a great day. Looking forward to next week. I am coming down with the other lady that passed today as well.
  17. Thanks, seems like the only one who doubted them was me bad doggy mumma!!
  18. What a tragic accident, So sorry for your loss.
  19. After the assessment we went down to the water front (thanks for the suggestion Helen) and shouted ourselves lunch Shannon (DOLer Mawson) and my friend Lee who also has a Delta dog (my youngest dogs brother) Lee and the girls Shan and the girls All tired out after the big outing
  20. So the assessment was in Geelong about a 2 1/2 hour drive so we set off early and another lady from our town was being tested too with her little dog lexi so she followed us and we met up for the dogs to have a little run before the test. After we passed her is me Lacy and Tully with Betty and Lexi
  21. Well guess what Lacy and Tully passed thier Dleta assessments, I was stressing and worrying for nothing they breezed through with out a hitch and passed with flying colors. I am very proud of my girls and the way they behaved today. Tully barked a bit at the other dogs but she happily said hello to the smaller ones and steered clear of the bigger one ;) but it was all good and we had a lovely day. I have had a pm from Dezzy (also testing today) but I will let her come in here and fill you in on her day. Heres a few pics of our journey. Last night getting all spiffy for the big day. Stevie wonder of the bath tub
