I am in absolute awe of wedding photographers, it is just something that I couldn't/wouldnt do, I shoot a beach wedding for a friend and was nearly sick the whole time, although the pics came out ok and she was happy with them so thats the main thing but I said never again. I did not have a clue!
-
I can't wait to give it a better work out hopefully tomorrow, it has a funny sound in it when it focuses kind of like a bird chirping, hope its not a dodgy one! its funny and I will have to see if I can find it, I took a picture of the four of them at the beach one day and it was soooo windy, there ears and faces were just ferrel, it was the funniest photo. couldn't you just see it. Work it baby, little supermodels. I think they already think they are supermodels, especially the girls, they see the camera and come running. Cooper couldn't care less about the camera and Bronson just tells me off, I think thats what he is doing in the picture with his eyes shut!
-
I had to have a second look, I thought she had red Dorothy shoes on and colourful socks, but the photo under that one, it looks like there was 4 photographers in the room plus Huga so thats 5, why would you need that many or were some family, they all looked professional. and the bride looked like she was on her phone. Great shot though!
-
Ive done this exact thing too and usually the pics are all awful. Yes that's exactly what I got from looking at those pictures, do you think he knew you were taking the shots?
-
Do you find with an action that it always works for every photo? Is it easy to make an action? Is it like making a preset? I got my new lens today the Sigma 17-70, got it just before I went to work and got him just as the sun was going own. Managed to snap a few shots, they are reduced in size so don't look half as good as they do full size but Ill post them here, I feel they are pretty good focus wise but will see what you guys think. this ones a bit noisy I had the ISO up quite high as it was getting dark. Showing off for the camera. So far so good hopefully tomorrow will be a nice day and I can shoot something interesting after work, not sure what yet!

Jo your posts have made me laugh today, funny. Look forward to seeing what you have come up with. CC, your snail shot is amazing, what kind of macro lens did you use for that?
-
A couple more from me, more bowling ones. This one was my Bosses Boyfriend, I was really drawn to take his picture but was to shy to ask him if he minded and I didn't want to just snap away, so I got this one in quick while he wasn't looking, Tired after a hard days work.
-
Underwater would be totally cool too, one of my FB buddies posted This link tonight, how could would they be if they worked!
-
Fantastic Huga, all of them, did you have the whole Bowling alley to yourself? I would have loved that, ours was packed and it was so hard to get a good shot! Kirislin, I love them ones I think they fit the PJ category perfectly, that mans face evokes such sadness and empathy in me!

I have no idea but it sounds interesting, hope you can share some of the photos! Enjoy your time with your friend!

Well if that aint the stink eye I don't know what is! M&Dm, great shots, love the running ones especially, you have certainly got a hang of getting them spot on! Love Judy and the kitty, so cute, wish My Birman would hang with my dogs like that. Love Paddy looking in the mirror, curious do you groom him yourself his coat looks awesomely done, is he stripped or clipped?
-
I was hoping someone would have posted in here by now, keen aren't I. Ill have a go, Not sure if these are classed as PJ style of photography, but Ill post them up anyway.

My mum told me today about this eye-fi thing, I goggled it and this is what I found, it sounds amazing. The official site and Gizmodo Anyone else see this?

Ive just been thinking about this and I think the answer is clear you will get the same results no matter which camera you use its just a matter of using the right settings for your particular camera to achieve the same result as you would get on a full frame. I hope that makes sense, so if you and a person shooting with a FF were standing next to each other, the person with the full frame would need to get closer to the subject to get the same picture you would. Which then i guess makes your 35mm question valid, if the person with a FF had the 35mm lens then you would stand at the same spot to get the same pic. I think.
-
That made my head hurt, but I totally understood what you meant, I am curious about the answer too.

So in lightrooom, if I use the clarity and contrast sliders among others, what slider do i use to sharpen? Is it quite simply the sharpening slider under the detail section or do I then need to take the photo to PS and do it there? Which is what I used to do with unsharpened mask, but now I just use the sharpen tool in lightroom. All of a sudden it all seems so complicated! You guys have been looking at my photos for years wish someone had of told me earlier they were all crap!!
-
Thanks for the replies, I am finally starting to understand what i have failed to understand for years, its all making sense to me now. Kirislin, those shots are outstanding! Just curious do you use fully manual or are you shooting in AV? I never ever used AV with my Nikon, mainly S or P and that was it but I have found using AV is heaps better.
-
Yea I remember now I think it started out with someone querying about someone taking a random picture of their kids. It did get a bit out of hand if I remember rightly
-
 me too. I think I'll be like that girl on the show, way to shy to actually ask people if I can take their picture! Actually do you have to ask people? I think there was a thread on it a while ago, think I even posted in it. Must go have a look, I know it was long but I'm not sure there was a definitive answer about getting people permission? I could be wrong.

Hi everyone, a few members have expresssed an interst in a photojournalism thread, I think it was Kirislin who first mentioned it in the photo finish thread so I thought I'd make it's very own thread for the interested parties. It's something I've always been interested in. I've never really gone out and had a serious go at this type of photography. For anyone who wants to read exactly what photojournalism is there is an explaination Here from Wiki and Here from another source Typically PJ photography isn't edited or photoshopped and its as shot but I think for the purpose of this thread we don't have to be that pedantic and can use photojournalism style photography, for example Huga shoots in PJ wedding style and other stuff so of course her images are going to be edited, as long as your picture tells a story it's valid. I can't wait till people post in this thread and see what they come up with, if anyone wants to add anything I've missed please do, I'm am definatley no expert on this particular style of photography but I am certainly in awe of it a lot of the time! So get posting!

I just finished watching and totally agree Snook, it's a pity she didn't lighten the image slightly on the left side of the mans face but it was definatley spot on fitting the brief perfectly. A PJ thread would be awesome it's something I've always been interested in but never really shot much of, might pop a new thread up now, I've started a few in the last week what's one more and it seems like there might be some interst. I wont put it in challenges I'll put it in photos so it can be ongoing.

Great thanks heaps!

 Funny boy! Do you remember this post below, I've just been to that link but can't figure out where the tutorial is? Here's a tutorial on a really easy way to do it. The only thing is that with some images it's not the best way as painting over the part you don't want the texture on will still slightly change the tones/brightness. http://ilafrancephotography.com/blog/page/22/

I know she has always had it, not the prettiest kitty but a heart of gold, not an evil streak in her anywhere. Do your collies nd kitties all get on?
