1. FWIW I wouldnt get an 8 weeks old if I had to work away 9-10 hrs a day and it remained alone without any contact or stimulation from anything. Everyone's working situation is different I suppose, for my lifestyle now an 8 weeks old pup would be by my side mostly, or baby sat. But I just wouldn't leave an 8 weeks old to its own devises. I'd probably come back to an eaten out lounge chair or something .
2. I need a stock of Dermotic without having to go to the vet every time. She only ever does 0 repeats on the sticker..
3. I used to when my dog was younger, she isnt a breed but has a large % of wild dog / dingo in her. Distances I didnt really count, it was time, so roughly 15 mins then a rest break then 15 mins then break etc. Just going to different places on our circuit. some could be 5k's or 20 or anything really.
4. A couple Rotties swaging around the property should keep all the neighborhood riff raff away. Rottweilers to the riff raff brain condition goes something like, 'I'm not going any where near that joint!' ' They got Rockwheelers!'. where as other types of dogs may only make them slightly wary about getting up to no good on your property.
5. If they are going to prosecute try and persuade her to get legal advice. You can beat them, a guy in WA did not long ago.
6. Whilst the dog I have now will possibly be my last for ever or for a very long time after she passes ( knock on wood ) because I have things I want to do in life where having a dog in charge just wont be workable nor appropriate I have no problems in sourcing a dog if or when that may happen in the future from either a shelter, pound, or breeder. So I voted Depending on the appropriateness of said dog and my situation at the time.
7. If you look on realestate.com for rentals, you can check a box and it will only show the houses/apartments that allow pets. It filters the rest out.
8. too quick .... Not wrong, nail them to a wall and let them just rot off!
9. To be honest out of all the small dogs I have met, i'd say a good 98% have been of good nature and confident dogs, about the same as the large and middle sized dogs I've met. That's my study lol, if only I could get some grant $.
10.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/technology/2013/12/17/17/03/researchers-discover-small-dog-syndrome Small dogs may suffer from a canine equivalent of short man syndrome, researchers believe, making them more aggressive and prone to mount people and objects. Regardless of breed, the smaller the dog is, the more likely it is to be unruly, aggressive, noisy and prone to "humping", according to a study by the University of Sydney."Our research shows that certain physical characteristics in dogs are consistently associated with certain types of behaviour," said Professor Paul McGreevy from the Faculty of Veterinary Science. "Essentially, the shorter the dogs the less controllable their behaviour is for their owners."Undesirable behaviours such as owner aggression, or mounting, occur more often among small dogs. "The study, published in journal PLOS One, examined owners' reports of 8000 dogs from across 80 breeds. It found that 33 of 36 undesirable behaviours in dogs could be associated with height, body weight and skull shape. "When average body weight decreased, excitability and hyperactivity increased," said Professor McGreevy. Further studies will address whether these bad behaviours seen in small dogs are a result of nature or nurture. "This suggests that, in small dogs, these behaviours are tolerated more than they would be in larger dogs where such behaviours are more unwelcome and even dangerous. "Equally, such behaviours in small dogs may be a result of their being overindulged and over-protected," he said.
11. Yeah QLD is a wee bit off it's chops in regards to the dingo. On one hand the dingo is considered native wildlife under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, and are protected on national parks, then on the other hand outside of national parks dingoes are declared as a pest species under the Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management) Act 2002.
12. Don't know why they even bothered, it's not like he was going anywhere in a hurry, I mean what would he have done started swimming up and down the beach lol, I saw a similar thing happen at Mooloolaba and the police just waited until the guy was pooped out from swimming around in circles before they nabbed him. As far as the dog biting it's handler, as far as I can see shit happens. it's a dog with a dog brain, not a drone robot with a human joystick controller.
13. What I do is use Fido's fre-itch concentrate, I was just using permoxin but switched, it kills ticks including the paralysis tick and also prevents attachment, I just put a cap full in a trigger spray bottle and soak her with it every few days, pretty easy, it smells way better that just permoxin, I really like the smell of it lol!
14. That's about right, hey this is Australia, 46 yrs ago Indigenous people were classified under the Flora and Fauna act as being non human.
15. Menacing breeds would be breeds that strike fear into the hearts of the neurotic after a media brainwashing session.
16. I want a proper trespass sign, AFAIK A keep out no entry access denied sign is all that is needed on a locked gate. I do like some novelty dog signs, though I don't think they are much chop for anything other than a passing laugh. I mean when ever I see a 'never mind the dog, beware the owner sign I just think ok you have a dog.
17. 1) Never bitten. 2) She got into a massive barney with next doors dog once, next doors owner of the dog was warned what would likely happen to his dog if it got into her yard well in advance. Broken skin, unknown if needed stitches. 3) RIP Duckling.
18. My dogs got scars on her back, blind in one eye, constant skin and ear conditions and is getting on a bit. Most frustrating comment was ' I think your dog needs to see a vet' because blah blah blah. Like what ever Mongojim, mind yer own and go have an argument with yourself about it in your own head. She's well taken care of not like it's anyone's business but hers and mine.
19. Why the US? I'm no fan of the US it's no secret, but mate Thailand is so much better in terms of cost of living etc, plus Dogos are available, shoot back to Aus for a few months a year then go back and live like a god damned king for a year in Thailand with a Dogo. Theres a huge expat community and it's so cheap compared to the destitute broke ass debt ridden country of USA.
20. Wholly crap you are moving continents just to own a breed of dog for a while?! Man you are committed! I've never heard of such breed devotion, best of luck with the move and whatnot.
21. Hyundai iLoad or iMax, saw a 4x4 iLoad conversion on the beach a couple weeks back mad as vehicle!
22. I'd eat my dog for my survival. I too think he was a bit of a numpty, they do have PLD's such as epirb on the rivers in Canada that is accessible for rescue even in the most remote area.
23. Budget for dog costs, pen and paper, needs and wants, total the amounts. If the total exceeds your income budgets then you live in debt. There is no rainbow if that happens, you either make sacrifices elsewhere or the dog gets sacrificed for another.
