They certainly can vary wildly, as everyone here is aware especially vets or vet workers on this forum, veterinary practices are un regulated in Australia so prices for procedures can be what ever the practice sets. I would love to open a veterinary practice some time in the future, it is a great economic business venture with relativly low low start up costs to outfit, however because I am not a vet I am prevented to do that. Sucks because its a good business to be in.

The problem is the boy who cried wolf, Dog fighting has existed here since dogs were here were even reported in matches in the newspapers of old, and will continue. Reports have come along the recent decades of busts most notably in WA when the cretin known as the Axeman in APBT circles was busted back in 2001 fighting dogs in Albany, the circles they seek are well known online.

Not sure " a large fine" the RSPCA calls for would be of any benefit, hoarders clearly have major mental issues and this person needs some psychiatric help not a fine. These stories make me so sad not just for the animals who had to endure it but also the person too.

How do the customs people know if they are looking at a prohibited breed, or one that just looks the same as a prohibited breed? Do customs have breed assessors and a Vic style checklist? Seems pretty weak legislation, I mean really someones pet Mastiff Bloodhound X can really be a Fila in disguise and get through easily enough from what is on the paperwork and microchip details. Lol at band breeds, I liked the bloodhound gang.

If it's all deed not breed, then good move. If breed is involved, it's a flop, and WA will suffer it like all the rest who have gone down the 'breeds pose an inherent danger' path. Hope they got it right.
