  1. It was worth trying/checking - and your advice was much appreciated... thanks. T.
  2. Well - Storm is over the little munchkins chewing on her boobies... it hurts! We have now separated Storm and the babies - who are now eating tinned puppy food like it's going out of fashion, and most are happily drinking water from a bowl. We put the 3 smallest babies on Storm at times when her boobies are feeling a bit full, and just the 3 of them can drain her in minutes! The feeding is highly supervised as Storm is quick to get up and tell them off harshly for biting her. I think these munchkins are going to be weaned fairly quickly, as Storm's milk production is dropping off some already. The babies are getting more adventurous every day, and are starting to look more like little dogs too. They bark and growl, any new toy is thoroughly investigated and dragged around their pen, and they play rough-house with each other. We can spend ages just sitting and watching them each day... they are so cool! Now the hard work on our part starts... cleaning up puppy poopies everywhere... yay... errr! And Storm gets to relax and enjoy not having to look after all those babies all the time. Hoping her milk drops off at a good rate so that we can get her desexed and back home to her own family... T.
  3. Not autofocusing at anything at all - regardless of distance. I've had this lens for a couple of years and am aware of the distance thing - tried taking a wide shot of a tree at longer distance, and nothing... I think it's AF is just dead/seized. MF works fine though. The longer lens AF also works fine, so I don't think it's the camera... T.
  4. When I used to go out with my 2 older girls - black Rotti/Pittie and golden Lab - guess which one got all of the attention with random people just coming up and groping her? Luckily she actually loves being the centre of attention, but the other one would get a forlorn look on her face like she felt left out... *sigh* Funnily enough, the "friendly looking" girl will kill the other one given half the chance - so we don't go out for group walks any more. Personally, I reckon the Rottie/Pittie has the better temperament of the two, but most of the general public think Labs are all meant to be "safe" family pets and up for anyone to approach for a pat. I know different because mine has shown me what she's capable of if she really doesn't like something (ie. my other dog)... and I'm a lot more fussy about anyone or anything rushing up to her nowadays. Lots of people stare at my 3rd girl, and some will ask why she walks funny, and if she's friendly... sure she's friendly, and yes you may pat/cuddle her, she loves the attention... lol! As for the walking funny, she got a brain injury when she was really little and it has affected her movement, but not her happy go lucky nature... T.
  5. Little Chucky is very handsome, isn't he? I hope all went well with his surgery and he is now safe back home with you and feeling a bit better than last night. Gentle hugs from me and healing licks from my pack... T.
  6. I'm sure most people who own dogs are fully aware of the "doggy headbutt"... had a few of my own over the years... *grin* Petition signed... T.
  7. I have 2 dogs that will fight to the death on occasion - alpha females, both desexed. Their last fight was almost 2 years ago now... because they are always separated. One is a Labrador, and the other is a Rottie/Pittie - and the Labrador is actually the one that goes for the kill during a fight. If you work out a routine that keeps them both separated, and each gets some one-on-one time with you each day, then it's not that hard to manage to keep them both - I know, because that's how I have to manage mine, and I'm not a 125kg man... *grin* If I owned your 2 dogs, I'd be concerned about rehoming either of them after they have both shown tendencies to bite both humans and other dogs - I know the Neo was reacting to your hissy fit, but he's still only a young dog, and may still mature into a more dominant boy. I know from experience what it's like to own 2 dogs that don't get on, but it CAN be managed to the benefit of all. Personally, I wouldn't try to reintroduce them to each other, but you need to talk to a fully qualified and experienced behaviourist/trainer about that, and forever be on your guard for what may trigger the 2 to fight. No behaviourist/trainer is going to be able to wave a magic wand over a few sessions and "cure" your dogs of their dislike for each other - it will be a lifetime of you working with them to ensure that a fight never happens again. T.
  8. Try being a blue-eyed blonde kid in some of the remote areas of Papua New Guinea... we got used to it... *grin* I love dogs - and would cuddle them all no problems - but I ask first... T.
  9. My dogs are named Zeddy, Trouble, and Pickles... I went to school with kids named Fern (a boy), Chib, and Rainbow - and friends of the family have children named Gwangi and Chico... T.
  10. I tricked them today - didn't water down the puppy food - and they couldn't care less... nom, nom, nom! As for dragging ourselves away from regular stuff... well, we have a routine for that, and have included puppy cuddle time at regular intervals... *grin* Storm is doing great - she's put on weight and looks really nice now - apart from the dangly boobies of course... lol! She also gets her share of one-on-one time and cuddles as part of the daily routine. If it doesn't rain too much tomorrow, I'll try to get some solo shots of Storm, OK? T.
  11. I met the Renbury girl when she came in the other day... she is a complete smooch! Thank dog you are taking her Ams - she is a really nice girl... T.
  12. Puppies had a good play on the grass yesterday and today without getting rained on... yay! You need proof?? OK - pics as proof... lol! These 2 tend to stick together a fair bit... This little fellow got the worst of the ear munching, but I reckon he can hear extra well as a bonus... Who's going to have mum's nose?? Miss Sasha Little Joe Count them all - all 8 are there... Dinner time! This stuff is GOOD! Haven't quite got the idea of spreading AROUND the bowl yet... I got's stuff on my foot! Get it off!!!! Aren't they all starting to look like real doglets now? And we all have teefies now too... and we love to test them on everything. T.
  13. Which 2 are you keeping? *crossing fingers it's the fawn boy - so we can watch him grow up* I agree with the comment on how awesome your photos are - you capture their personalities with each shot! T.
  14. They are pretty little munchkins Frodo's Mum, but "my" fawn boy of yours is still the most handsome of all... *grin* T.
  15. The summer we've had would be more in place in far north Queensland methinks... hot and wet and sticky... ewwwie! I suppose it's better than cold and wet though... *grin* The munchkins don't care - they have somewhere warm and dry and big enough to play in - but Storm is a bit narked at the wet grass growing fast and tickling her boobies when she goes out for a run and one-on-one play/cuddle session. T.
  16. Well - today some of the munchkins are trying to run... and nearly succeeding... lol! Too funny when I enter their enclosure nowadays - they appear to know that I'm one of the "food ladies", and come wobbling over at their fastest pace all looking up and squalling "dinnertime!" A few of them are working their little teeth through by gnawing on my fingers when we have cuddle time - I reckon we'll have a good number of teeth by the end of this weekend. Joe is also starting to check out the sides and corners of the whelping box - he can get himself up just high enough to poke his nose over - he'll be our first escapee methinks... I'm getting well jack of this inclement weather though... it really reduces the places we can have the pups out. I'd love to get them out onto the grass a bit more, but the nice shaded areas are a quagmire after last night's bucketing... grr! T.
  17. Googling leads me to believe that it's not an unknown occurrence for the AF to cark it on this lens... and I've tried every suggestion I found to try to get it working again... AF is definitely dead... *sob* It's possible that it's seized due to me not using it all that much and it has been exposed to a wide range of conditions (ie. hot and cold, muggy, etc). What's really scary is the price range to get a new one - anything from around $110 to $404... huh?? This isn't the II (second generation) 18-55mm lens, it's the original one. The II is even more expensive - almost to the point that if I only had the option to buy the 18-55 II lens, it wouldn't be all that more expensive to get an 18-200mm Sigma or Tamron one... Moot point at the moment about getting a new lens - me has no job and no money right now... *sigh* T.
  18. Simple maths also says that special needs animals bring in the donations... *grin* For those that use commercial kennel space, how often do people from the actual rescue go out there and interact with the dogs they have kenneled? How well to they really know that dog when it comes time to rehome it? What happens to the dogs that donations are required to cover vet fees for if the donations don't come in? My take on the whole charity/donations thing is that it should be used to supplement the funds for the dogs in care - not be relied upon to fully fund the care required. T.
  19. It seems to be the AF mechanism/motor that is having the issue with my lens. Seeing as I don't use that lens all that much it may be that it has seized... the manual focus works fine, but I'm not as good at doing it as the AF was... *sigh* What I'd really like is an 18-200mm lens - that way I can have the best of both worlds without having to switch lenses... something for the wish list I think, as I don't have a job at the moment and money is a finite resource right now. T.
  20. Little dogs do less damage? No excuse. It bit the owner and the owner doesn't trust it. The OP doesn't trust it either, and it gets put away when people come to visit in case it bites someone else. What if it had been a child the dog bit instead of an adult? Based solely on what has been posted here in relation to the dog's behaviour/nature, I'd pts. T.
