I have a rare breed as well. She got almost to champion status without beating another dog because there wasn't one entered! She won more than her fair share of classes in group but under your criteria she should not have champion status. In the end, we purchased another one of the same breed because they would at least compete against each other. Plenty of good judges including international judges, tell me that they are good examples of the breed so why shouldn't they earn their champions???? You have your GSD becase you like the breed. I have my rare one because I prefer them. I have been here a couple of years now and really get offended the way some of the been around for years, bred heaps of champions In a popular breed, look down on those of us who don't fit your narrow view of the dog showing world. At least we are out there, showing and trying to maintain the rare breeds we love. If my reward for keeping a rare breed In existence for a while longer with my petrol, no competition champion is a 'cheap' title then I figure I deserve it.

Congratulations Thorsmum and thank you to Megz for all the results.

Your pictures are just brilliant

Correct Dogperson. How many times have you sat and watched a bitch with her pups? She will handle them far more roughly than I would. I have seen plenty of times where a puppy will be chastised by an older dog with far more force than CM ever applies and come back, showing no harm. Whether you like his methods or not, he reads dogs brilliantly.

No doubt it is a great venue FBC. Just wear sensible shoes Any group 2 or 6 yet please?
-
I find your comments really amusing FBC because that is not what you said to me beside ring 2 last year.

The club area and dining rooms were air conditioned last year but the main pavilion was not. Most people tried to be closer to the doors as it was very hot in the centre. I was silly enough to wear shoes that gave me grip but had quite thin soles. The concrete drew on my feet something dreadful and I could barely walk the next day with the amount of swelling in my feet and ankles.

I would like to be on your side and defending that opinion in a court of law animala. What you are saying is that a boarding kennel can take money for care and have no duty of care. The waivers are not worth the paper they are written on. It is not fair and reasonable to waive your statutory rights. I would never board a dog again. We used a well respected kennel, highly recommended by posters on DOL. I picked him up day early, calling 90 mins before I got there so really, they had plenty of time for a cover up. They could not even bother with that. He is a heavy coated breed and I did not see that under his tail was wet from where he had been hosed. 50 metres up the road and all the windows were down as the stench off him had me dry retching. Get him home and his bowels motions were black liquid. I knew immediately what the cause was. Call the kennel and there had been a 'mistake'. He was being fed a commercial dogfood roll that they admitted was high in fat. We feed a natural diet and took all his food. No discount for that either. He had been recovering from stomach issues so we ensured they had the vet report where it was made clear - low fat, raw. Seems he did not have a single raw meal while he was there. Huge apologies, offers of free grooming and a couple of other services to apologise for their mistakes. Not a chance I would cross their doorstep for anything. Ever.

I use a sprayer bottle of water and give the silver mesh walls a good spray from the inside. The cooling effect is immediate.

I didn't say debarking was illegal in Victoria. I said the dog had been illegally debarked. The process for lawful debarking in Victoria wasn't followed. I never said you did Poodlefan so I do not understand your correction point.
-
Debarking is not illegal in Victoria. It has been explained so many times what was wrong in this case. Debark and not show and there would not have been any charges.

Try searching Mr. Richard L. Byrd . I think it is a misprint as Ms R Byrd.

Please Keep An Eye Out For Maddi's Show Set
TessnSean replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
I will bump it for you ruthless. We had a special dog travel mat pinched out of the back of our car at Echucal last year. Have not seen another like it and it makes you feel really lousy. I do hope you get it back :p -
All sorted with Skyegirl. I did not realise that people would actually say they won something and they didn't at all
-
We had one and bent it to useless the first time we took it down. With no postage, you would be better off with the on sale Oz Trail one at Harris Scarfe.

BIS - Mini Schnauzer Marie Edwardes & Patty Ledgerwood - Legacy's Rockin Robin (USA)

Last year it was in the middle of the track. Grass was very long around the rings.

Oh dear I have gone with the suggestion of all names on the one envelope for the latest entries I sent off. re the entry forms I had queried by another show, the signatures are in blue ink
-
Group 4 - BIG Whippet RBIG Long Hair Dasch Group 6 - BIG Malamute RBIG Mastiff

Cut the forms exactly to size and no serrrated edge showing on the trim line - tick. Write show name on the bottom left hand corner of SAE - tick Write name of dogs, breed and address on back of cheque - tick Write breed and classes on back of SAE - tick Send more than one envelope - FAIL

We are newbies to showing. As in competing for approx 18 months and are showing 4 dogs. One in my name, two in my husbands' name, one in partnership with the breeder. Schedule says "in the case of multiple exhibitors, one envelope for each exhibitor" so for show after show, I sent 3 SAE envelopes. With the exception of one show where all envelopes were used, the secretary has sent back the numbers in one envelope and also sent back my SAE envelopes, unused. The one show where all envelopes were used, the numbers were put in the wrong envelopes. I can take the hint. 99% of show secretaries find it easier to send entries, linked with a common name back in one envelope so I have started sending just the one envelope. Seems I still can not get it right Last week I got a note telling me if I send them photocopied entries again, my entries will be sent back. Um. No they weren't. I use Show manager and do a fresh print out for each show. This week, I get a note that says "In future forward separate SAE's for each m'ship as requested in the schedule". I feel like I have been ticked off for deliberately making life difficult for the show officials. Sigh. I guess I just go back to sending 3 envelopes and getting 2 back. I already had to fax the rego certificate on one dog as they did not believe that I gave the correct ownership number. One thing for sure. I won't enter any of their shows again. What do the rest of you do? Multiple SAE or single?

Talked to some mini people and as Showdog said, it is a non topic. I did not know until I read it here and those I have spoken to have said they will adopt a wait and see if it changes anything here.

Morning Tea For The Judge & Steward/s
TessnSean replied to Rottsup's topic in General Dog Discussion
If the competitor is on the committee or some who has volunteered to help out, then it is part of what they have offered to do on the day. If they regularly do it simply because they are competing in that ring, then I don't see a problem. It is a nice thought and a gesture of appreciation for the judge and steward. They can obviously deal with the outsider perception by some that they are using the offer of food to be noticed when they compete. I very seriously doubt that the scones and jam would have them up the line for a better result. I showed horses for 30 years and only started showing dogs 14 months ago. I have a very long way to go before I know everybody. Know a number of newbie competitors who would say the same thing. Saying that everybody knows everyone is just one of the many assumptions that have appeared on this and other threads.
