  1. There's an agility trial on Saturday. A retrieving trial on Sunday. Not sure on the shows! Good to hear! Woohoo!! We start term 4. Could probably start part way through term 3 but might wait til term 4. Still haven't finished Just got home from agility training and I have just sat down to finish it but am way too tired. Might get up in the morning to do it. As long as I finish it tomorrow and email it off tomorrow, it should be all good!!
  2. HOW JEALOUS AM I!!!!!!! I actually did look up a couple of months ago if there would be any RATG held while the Nationals were on as that might have swayed me to come over, but couldn't find one scheduled!! Boo I really hope WA hurry up and hold them soon Anyhoo!! Best of luck you guys!! I'm sure you'll do great and glad the place is doggy heaven and close to shops ;) :D
  3. OMG that is cuteness overload! Especially with the ES (cos I just love ES ) I hope they're tough buggers, cos it will probably be annoying 2 Labradors when I visit (which is quite often!) This will be payback, Ruby!!!!!!! I think she's forgotten what she was like as a puppy ;)
  4. Are you getting a Brittany or a Lab?! (you look good handling a Lab ;))
  5. Gosh RV you are tempting me to sway to the Brittany side!!! They are so adorable, and just LOVE the orange/white ones We will definitely have to set up a playdate for our 2 pups (I say our but really mum and dad's!!) Candice you can steal the Chi X and join us
  6. Anyone with soft smaller dogs that wouldn't mind socializing with mum and dad's MS pup? Seeing as I'm doing a bit of training with her, I want her a confident little thing.
  7. All this puppy talk is killing me!! Candice, when is "your" litter due? 6 weeks tomorrow til mum and dad's new pup comes home. So at least I'll get a bit of puppy breath, then. Just wish it was Labbie breath!!!
  8. I'm sorry but this made me laugh so hard Pity I can't spell pageant. Oh and try it.. its true! I'm usually a ball of nerves, and my dogs do feel it. If they are lagging, I know I am giving out very bad vibes. One judge made me laugh and smile at the start peg. We took off me still smiling, and I had an increase of heelwork performance with my dog Now I just need to remind myself to relax and smile and things might go a bit smoother than the hit and miss I currently suffer with them!
  9. That's just not good enough! I can't wait to meet her in the flesh :D Please don't make me wait too long!! Psst.. are you coming training tonight?
  10. Ooooh puppy breath!! Yes, which one is the keeper? :D
  11. Wanna write it for me? :p Thanks about Ruby. Yeah it was distressing, but not an entire shock, because I had seen her get bitten (though didn't see what by), and she's blown up before after a sting. If she hadn't have blown up before and I didn't see her get bitten, and she just blew up like that out of the blue, I would have been a cot case!!! Pleased to report her chubby chops seem to have gone down to regular size, now
  12. Great minds Cos that's what I started doing But Candice makes a great point, didn't think of it that way. Will approach it from that angle instead ;)
  13. So I'm doing my last bit of TAFE homework for this semester. The first question I have to answer is as follows: Imagine that you own a pet shop. Briefly describe what steps you could take to prevent an outbreak of disease within the shop. I have a whole page of lines I need to write on to answer this question. Do you think I will get sufficient marks if I just answer with "I won't sell pets in my pet shop, so no chance of disease in my shop!!" ???
  14. Yeah it's a mailing list for club members. I can't find the phone number to ring so I hope you've found it
  15. Good news that the vet doesn't think that it's his thyroid. Hope the tests prove that and you get some answers
  16. I emailed and didn't get a response, so I posted on the ACWA mailing list today and now have a response I've been put on the puppy class list for term 4. I might also put Millie into term 3 novice class one more time as I need serious handling help with her!! Just hope there is room for us
  17. No, it's a general public misconception of what a Labrador "should" look like, problem. They see an ideal weight Lab, and it can't be a purebred Lab. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been asked what my Labs are crossed with, and the look of horror when I state they are purebred. Oh no, they aren't the right size for a Labrador I am told!
  18. I had a look at the chemist today at the types of AH's and wasn't sure what to buy! Lovely offer thankyou, but I can probably buy some. What brand do you use? I can't really say I have a regular vet, that is one thing I don't really like about the vet clinic I have been going to the past few years. Different vet each time. Would be nice to see a vet that knows and remembers my girls, and ask their advice on stuff like this. Will definitely give her hugs for you, she's been getting extra hugs from me
  19. I think I read somewhere that if dogs have passed over, that you must return their registration papers, I really hope I'm wrong! Just in the off chance it is correct, I wouldn't be mentioning the dog in question is at rainbow bridge. Get the title officially, first Very sweet thing you're doing!
  20. I wasn't sure if Ruby's initial reaction was her vacc or not as it happened when we got home from her vaccs. She was fine for her booster shots so we put it down to a bee sting (as she did stick her head in a bush when we got out the car!) Silly puppy. While in the waiting room last night, a woman asked if she was a puppy Then when Ruby stood up, she gasped that she had a waist!
  21. Yep that is Ann. She was so lovely to come down and wait with me, eased my stress a bit. I will have to buy some today, can you recommend what brand to buy? I've never bought them before! (for me or the dogs!) Got in there around 8.40pm, didn't leave til about 10.30pm. I'm glad to hear it's normal then for swelling to take a while to go down. Those photos are of Ruby's best, the swelling was more pronounced when I first took her down. Her eyes were puffy, even her airways were puffy. Now she just has fat lips. She looks so sad!! Vet gave me extra tablets to give her in case it happens again, but I think she'll still need to see a vet if it happens again. Just hopefully not out of vet hours!!!! Poor James! Ruby's first bee sting reaction was at 16 weeks old. Was James allergic to his vaccination?
  22. Thanks, guys. Ruby still has fat lips today, I sure hope they go down soon. I don't have antihistamines and kept telling myself I should get them. BUT, I don't think they will be any good in Ruby's case. She needs a couple of jabs as her reaction is pretty severe. Still, I will get some and keep them in the car so I can at least treat her with something until I get her to a vet. And Millie may need them at some stage. ST - so James' swelling went down on its own with no treatment (besides antihistamines)? Here is Ruby about an hour after her first jab (she needed a second one and then some medication to take home with me): And her looking all sad (gosh my heart does flip flops looking at my sad girl )
  23. I've been bitten by the agility bug (though after my 3rd double header weekend in a row next weekend, I might be well and truly over it!!!) and I would like to get better so that I can handle courses with ease, but I don't think it's going to happen unless I ease up on something else so I can train this properly (as most of it initially is going to be a learning process for ME on how to train it), and I really need private lessons. But for one, I can't afford all the private training sessions I need, and secondly, I'm not sure I want to forego one of the other things to make room! What a pickle!! Oh and thirdly, if I do go and pay for private lessons, I would rather put that money towards private lessons in obedience or retrieving We really do have some tough life decisions to make, don't we
