  1. MMS or email me some!! I will post them :D Good luck with your exams. Will you be free to come training on the 16th ready for your open jumping debut?
  2. Gorgeous puppies, ST! You must be having so much fun with them
  3. Assignment is maybe 2/3 done. I need me some sun and warmth! Off to the park and will get back to it later. Study sucks!! Now I remember why I hate study...
  4. Well I'm sitting here trying to write my breeding assignment and checking DOL and FB isn't helping me I am determined to finish today, then take the dogs to the park, so I will take a photo then. I really want to take them to where there is some water to do some retrieving training but there is none nearby and I'm too scared to go on my own to quiet places that are more suitable The local lake was not a good idea, there are stupid ducks on the lake that like to follow us, even if it means risking their lives!!!
  5. Congrats, Strauss!!! But I personally believe he should be retiring to the retrieving field in addition ;)
  6. Can I be the first in line to rent one of your dogs please?
  7. Awesome information, ozjen, thanks!! Well I have my car back! Very pleased with the work :D He didn't get time to finish the divider, but it's all cut out so I'll get that next week at training. I'm scared of how squishy it will be with the divider in but I can only really judge it once it's in and the dogs are in. The doors don't open flush and straight because of the shape of my back door, he's curved them to give me maximum boot space as per my request So I'll have to be careful the dogs don't bang their heads on the edge of the door as they jump in I'll get a photo of it tomorrow, too dark to take one now!
  8. Still waiting to hear back! He still has it He called late yesterday to say he wasn't done yet and should be ready sometime today. I'm thinking of taking Ruby for a drive when I finally pick it up so she can test drive it for me on the way home :p
  9. Thanks emery! So there is no "wait time" between mating and actual fertilization? You just take 63 days from each of the mating dates? Wow anyone would think I must have failed sex ed in school
  10. Is everyone having a life away from DOL?! No posts on here in 2 days (apart from me!) I've got a bit of a newbie question in regards to breeding for those breeders amongst us, hope you can help! It's for a TAFE assignment on breeding, and I don't really want to post the Q in the breeder's forum at this stage Say a mating was successful, how long after mating would the dog be officially pregnant and you could start counting your 63 days gestation? It's not from the mating date, is it? I know they can be mated several times so the counts can differ. But I have heard a few references to "x number of days from the first/second mating", what is that x number? Hope my question makes sense and doesn't sound completely stupid Thanks!
  11. I find that very interesting. I get nervous going into the ring, but nothing like it sounds you do. But talking in front of hundreds of people, kill me now! I hate even speaking in front of half a dozen people. That is what terrifies me most, public speaking!
  12. I get nervous about just about everything Got the Obedience Challenge this Monday, followed by another trial on the same day. So that is 2 trials for Ruby (Novice and Open), and 3 trials for Millie (CCD, Novice and Open) in one day. Poor Millie!!
  13. Hope you weren't picturing us all in our underwear!
  14. Well I went down to the local lake to do some training a bit earlier. It's a bit mucky and there are people walking around and ducks on it so it's not a place I prefer to go to, but as I really need to get my act together and find water to train with on a more regular basis, I decided to go down. Well, we almost had a duck casualty Ruby decided she'd rather chase the ducks in the water, and almost got one! I managed to call her off them before she got one So we move further down the lake and what do the stupid ducks do, but follow us!! How bad is it for a retrieving dog to want to chase ducks Anyway, we worked through the duck distraction and she didn't go back to them, so she was retrieving with ducks nearby (though I did tell her if she finds a dead one, she is allowed to retrieve that one and bring it back Just not allowed to kill it herself!) Will this confuse the poor dog by retrieving near ducks? Will she soon shy away from dead birdies because she has been told to leave the ducks alone? Anyway, I'm having the most success at the moment with having her come all the way out of the water and to me (without dropping the dummy and shaking) when I bribe her ie. show her the treat up front. This totally goes against my training but gosh darn it I am at a loss as to get her to bring it back properly when water is concerned! I aim to phase that bribe out and only reward when she proves she can do it more reliably. At least she isn't spitting the dummy to get the reward, she knows she has to hold it to earn it. And she's coming further out of the water now than she has been previously so it's a start Boy this water is tough work!
  15. He's only half done as the frame took a bit longer than expected with all the angles, so sometime tomorrow I'll post pics when I get it home!
  16. Very quiet in here!!! Long shot, but thought I'd ask. Does anyone have a spare umbrella they may not ever use again for sale? I'm talking about those big ones that are used at shows and trials, and used to be given away (long before my trialling years) as prizes at shows and stuff. Often I hear long after the fact that some people have sold off spares they don't use and I would really like to buy one and always miss out! So if you could keep me in mind if you have one to sell or hear of any for sale, that would be most appreciated! :D
  17. Maybe she thought as long as it acts like a puppy, it must still need puppy food? If that's the train of thought, then I will be feeding my Labs on puppy food until the day they die!!
  18. Nope, not yet! I will update this thread when/if I hear back in case anyone else wanted to order one. Great price Well my baby (my car) is off being fitted as I type this! He is also going to go to a locksmith for me and see if he can locate those locks I want (like in superminty's photo). Hope he can find them and I also hope they don't cost an arm and a leg I told him if he can't find them, then latches are fine. He also said the doors won't open flush against the other door when open so instead he is going to have them open outwards like I first wanted, so the hinges are at the sides, not the middle. My car should be ready this afternoon or tomorrow
  19. Funny you should say that. I know it isn't a vet, but a vet nurse practically had a go at me and made me feel like I was not doing right by my 6 month old (at the time) Lab when in conversation I told her I had switched her to adult formula. She said she feeds her almost 2 year old Golden Retriever puppy food and I should not have mine off puppy food so soon. I did not take her advice, but I was at her attitude towards me. She then wanted to give me a brochure on why I should be feeding puppy food, only to be handed an Advance brochure
  20. Why on earth though would someone transfer money back to someone, without the cheque first being cleared and you have it as CASH, not uncleared funds. Maybe they deserve to be scammed That's why they use paypal, as they have fake paypal pages which they email confirming that they have deposited the funds. Looks very similar to the real one, it is just the web page address which gives it away. If you're not on the net a lot, then I can see how someone would think it was legit. I'm too suspicious these days and assume everything is a scam, until proven otherwise! But wouldn't you still check the funds were in your account?! Or attempt withdraw it to your account first from paypal if that is how it works. I just don't understand how anyone on the receiving end would just send back several thousand dollars without checking first
  21. Holy Moly!! Back to the drawing board!!! Looks like you can only buy industrial lengths, at Unit Price: $638.07 Exc GST for 45m, hell no
  22. Hmmm maybe this is the answer to my cargo net! http://www.3m.com/product/information/Dual-Lock-Reclosable-Fastener.html I was originally thinking to loop my cargo net elastic ends around hooks or screws, but if I attach one end of this fastener to the net and the other to the car, it may work! As I said, it's more a visual deterrent than a safety one, so as long as I can stretch my net that far I may have a solution I'll keep looking at the 3M products
  23. I have a solution, road trip acros the nullabor, stay a few days in Melbourne and get Colin to do it lol. Yes the locks clasp shut without having to lock them, but I'm sure you'd be able to source them somewhere. Yeah because that won't set me back by much
  24. Sorry, I'm not too sure exactly what you mean. If I have interpreted correctly, the barrier is only at the front of the boot, and a divider down the middle. There is no barrier down the sides of the boot or between the boot and back seats (which is where I want the net to go). The net should be removable separate to the unit so I can take it all out in pieces when I want to put the seats down to carry large goods that are not dogs!
