  1. I want to take both the girls to agility class but there is only one me, so I can't imagine what I'd do if I had a puppy as well! Why can't I just be content with couch potato pets? I could get what I wanted sooner! But no, I have to do something with them don't I!
  2. :D Valley you need to get back in so I have someone to chat to during the day! Nobody wants to talk to me ;) Yep I should be training on Thursday. And me with a puppy, nope, won't be me! As much as I would love it to be, sadly, it won't! I think it will be you or Candice
  3. What are you doing Amy and where's my invite :D
  4. I think I'm one of them as well Funny though that in high school you think you want kids, then you grow up and realise how much work they appear to be, and I'm far too selfish to want to care for something depending so much on me At least with dogs, you can leave them home if you want a night out I'm not a kid person, but my friend's kid loves me for some reason :D Despite all that, I'd like to think that one day I will have kids, I don't want to grow old and regret it. I just need to find Mr Right, first :D Happy Birthday to us!!! ;)
  5. Oh NO :D Congratulations hehehehe i think we'll stop at three terrors lol but i am just adding to the next generation of dog enthusiasts Congrats!!! Skin kids, not sure I can handle them!!!
  6. It's Ruby's birthday on new years day, maybe a new years day barbie somewhere?
  7. I think huski from Brisbane will be here then too, so all the more reason to organise one
  8. Join the puppy clucky club After this Saturday and our Lab puppy cuddle visit, I bet we'll both be itching for a new Lab puppy
  9. I order from the Pet Chef and he leaves the frozen stuff at my front door in one of those polystyrene boxes from the supermarket. I still have to thaw everything a little so I can freeze it in smaller bags. So they provide the polystyrene box do they? I might do an order then. I can always ask my Dad to pop around my place during the day and stick it in the freezer or in my garage out of the sun Nope, I get the polystyree boxes from the supermarket for free and leave it at the front door. Pet Chef man comes along and fills it up. Ah ok, silly me Thanks!
  10. Tracking is great fun and plenty of exercise. RS if you do it, I'm happy to practice with you,we can lay tracks for each other. I'll have two dogs doing it next year hopefully, we can car pool if you want to. This year we hardly got any rain and although a few mornings were cold, you soon warmed up. You do get use to the early mornings to ;) . Tiggy, there was some talk of having a special puppy group next year too. Here is the beautiful pine forrest we train in, hopefully it hasn't all been knocked down by next year and one of Jenna tracking. Earlier this month there was a large fire going through there but I think it was just fire burn off for later this summer. My partner and I are getting our new German Shepherd Dog puppy in a couple of weeks and I was thinking a little later we'd take it to do some track with trackwest.....it'll be easier for us since the pine forrest is only about a 5 minute drive for us. Welcome Love your user name

  12. I need to stock up from them but am bummed they aren't open on weekends Getting delivered won't work for me cos I don't have eskies and besides, I don't think an esky of meat this time of year would hold out all day. I want to get back to feeding raw, but it's hard to stock up when you work all week! You could go to A & D on a saturday - I am sure they are open, I am going today, will ask. Thanks ;) How do I order from them, though? Can I place an order in advance so I know that my trip out there won't be for nothing? And is there anywhere I can see what they sell and how much? If you're able to grab some sort of "menu" and pricelist for me today while you're out there, that would be GRRREEEAT! And please ask them if I can fax an order through? Ta

  14. You usually get a couple of goes and after the first couple of weeks when the dogs are getting the idea and the tracks are short, your tracks are longer. There are also more aspects than just getting the dog to track that the handler has to learn, some don't involve the dogs, like mapping and track laying. Also you follow up on other peoples tracks so that the instructor can teach you how to read the dogs as they track which is sometimes easier to take in when your not at the other end of the lead. Tracking is quiet tiring on the dogs so they are usually happy to have the breaks in between. Some people who did no training other than Saturday finished with a couple of legs towards their tracking titles by the end of the season. So brand new people who only trained on Saturdays were ready to enter trials? Wow. So why didn't you enter?
  15. Dust bunnies? Not I! Get together sounds good when huski is here, wherever we have it I'll bake some goodies And Amy - bring the goon bag!!
  16. Poor Toby. My night was alright, considering I rocked up feeling like I was already in training holiday mode And I forgot my treats, brand new packet of 4Legs sitting in mum's fridge Thanks for the goodies Ptolomy and Valley! Life savers! I did an Open ring runout with Millie. She coped ok, but by the last exercise she was a bit over it and it took a second attempt to get her to recognise a down signal (don't worry, when she failed the first one, I returned and set her up again ;)) Oh and she has a better DOR than Ruby - why am I not surprised!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I worked on seekback with both kiddies, and very happy with what I have so far Very early stages, though!
  17. And that is one of the reasons I refuse to scribe! I don't want to be the cause of stuffing up someone's brilliant run! I prefer to be backup timer or lead steward :D
  18. ozjen, happy to car pool with you next year if I go through with attending tracking :D How often do we need to train? I think I'm going to struggle to find time to train this outside of the Sat morning. I'm a bit put off that you only get a 15 minute go in that many hours, though I understand you have to lay tracks for each other, but for 15 mins, I'm not so sure!
  19. Ermmm... I've posted my goals in the goals/wishlist thread already, and making a twat of myself (and my dog!) isn't on the list ;) :D Who knows, I will probably give it a go in 2012 I like mucking around with her like that, but not in costume or with an audience ;) Edit: just to clarify, I would make a twat of myself cos I have no rhythm! A few who saw me at Zumba can attest to that!
  20. Agreed! Daisy is doing soooooooo well, and so are you!!!! I wish I had half your positiveness when it comes to training
  21. I know settings goals aren't for everyone, but for me I need them. They give me a purpose, not just in training, but in day to day life, because like many of you, my dogs are my life I’ve been spending my time trialling soley in obedience, but next year I want to try some new things and try to obtain a title or two that isn't obedience, to keep the lone obedience title on my girls company! So here is what I am going to aim for! Ruby: - I'd really love her CDX title next year, but my goal will just be for her to be focused in the ring again (happy isn't an issue, she's happy as Larry - but off with the fairies! Or off mugging judges or stewards!) - Trial in Novice Jumping and hopefully get her JD title. If that happens, I'd like us to make a start on JDX (even if it's just purely giving it a go!) - Perhaps trial in Novice Agility at some stage, but am not actually aiming for her AD title as I don't want to push her (she has only just gotten her confidence back to go over the full sized dogwalk!) - If Rally-O becomes official, her RN title. - Keep up training in retrieving, but have no solid goals for this one as I honestly have no idea how far we'll get with this sport. I just want her to enjoy it! - Maybe try Tracking, and if I can find the time to train for it, do the ET with her. - Get a Really Reliable Recall! Millie: - Trial in Open obedience and get her CDX title. - Trial in Novice Jumping and hopefully get a pass towards her JD title. - If Rally-O becomes official, her RN title. - Maybe try Tracking, and if I can find the time to train for it, do the ET with her. - Get a Really Reliable Recall! Me!: - Stop being so nervous and so serious, and just have some fun, dammit!!! (can't guarantee this goal is achievable, but will try! :D) - Be strong and hold off on puppy purchase!
  22. Awesome I've been thinking about my goals. I have plenty of time to think while at work, I'm never busy
  23. Whaddya mean what have I done?! You're the one who posted the tracking day thing but you mentioned it in the brags thread
