Thanks for all the lovely comments, I am very pleased with her effort The judge wrote on the back of her score card "WILL BE A STAR!!" You guys are gonna BLITZ it!!!

Ruby's got a few rosettes, it's just the trophy she hasn't gotten
-
Thanks guys! Millie is such a showoff Ruby says. How many trials has Ruby been in and the best she's gotten are medallions. Millie enters her first trial and walks away with a trophy And yes my dad is proud is his girl He wants to print out the photo I took of her and hang it in his study

Millie says "move over Ruby, it's time for ME to have a brag!!!" I kept it a bit because I didn't want to feel the DOL pressure but today was my Milliemoo's first CCD trial I am pleased to report that she passed AND placed 1st in the ring!! :cheer: She missed a position due to poor handling, and when she got distracted on the recall she flew off and then forgot what she was doing and went straight to heel (Ruby has done this before when something distracts her right before I call her, so I think I know what to work harder on proofing! ) But with those 2 small blunders, we scored 90/100. I am SO SO pleased with her heelwork, she never took her eyes off me once (except to sneeze, I think she's been watching Ptolomy's kids too much because she tends to sneeze without fail when we heel!!) We got to the stays and one by one, the other dogs got up from the down stay. Millie stayed like a good girl So in the end it was a case of "last dog dropping" The most pleasing part of the day were the lovely comments she received from the judge, it made me feel so proud of my little rescue girl!!! Our next trial isn't for a while now, end of July Here is the video from today:

Something to try - ask Mason for a hand touch and reward him with the tug. You then up the number of hand touches before rewarding him. Why do this - because you can take hand touches into an obedience ring and by pairing it with the tug he will expect that at some stage he will be rewarded with his favourite toy. OH and speaking from experience - I ordered this you beaut tug with rabbit fur from clean run. I showed it to Blaize and she went ballistic over it. A few minutes later the phone rang so I took the call outside, came back in 5 minutes later to find the tug in many many pieces! So don't leave it laying around. Yes, can vouch for a handtouch in the ring. Works great with Snazzy..I paired it with a tug and with food. Me too. Ruby enjoys hand touches and spinning in circles as her "reward" between exercises. At one stage the judge was off doing dog knows what for a few minutes between exercises so I had to entertain Ruby for what seemed like eternity! I asked for as many tricks as I could think of that I know she likes

Do you think a non-tugger would learn to tug with something with rabbit fur? Can you please link me to the one you bought and promptly had destroyed?

He was the first one to load up for me Jedi loves the sea!!!! (apparently!)

Awesome ads How do you get your dogs in ads?
-
Well that's screwed! What if you are legitimately wanting to enter your dog, you've paid your fees, and then say your dog becomes ill or in season and you can't bring the dog anymore! You should still be allowed to go and watch your fellow competitors. Sounds like they're really making a mess of things, especially with the mail debacle

That's why I need a friend who is actually interested in watching it ;) Looks like VCBR might be my friend for the day :p Will also come visit the showring I am going to be going this year, missed out on watching the dog events last year, got there too late
-
Amy and I braved the cold last night to do some agility. Got a bit warm running around, had to take layers off! ;) No worries, if I do end up going, you're welcome to come be nigel no friends no more with me I'll decide by August if I'm actually entering or not, but I am leaning towards spectating only :p

Woohoo! Thanks mirawee ;) What day is the obedience? Sunday I think? But now I'll need to find a friend though who would want to sit through the obedience with me otherwise I'll be nigel no friends all day So you can't set up where you want in the designated area if you're competing? Come sit and watch obedience with me :D I'd like to watch the agility, too, but can't see me making the treck 2 days.

I have a book that shows how to build one but can't remember if it is out of PVC or wood, I'll have a look when I get home. Probably want it to be really sturdy given Ruby's ramp issues Last thing you want is the frame collapsing with her on there! Oh but come on, I LOVE a training challenge!!
-
I'm way too lazy to implement the plan, though

If you enteryou generally get two passes can work out cheaper ?? So I should enter a dog, then scratch them, just to get a cheaper entry ticket? That's a good way If the pass system is the same as last year the passes can only be used for the day your have entered,so if you do scratch you could only attend that day irrespective Yep that's fine, I only want to go to watch the obedience, I'm not interested in the rest of the show. ie. overpriced rides and showbags!

Thinking about it further.... it might be fun to enter Ruby

In my years of visiting the Royal before my days of being a crazy Labrador mum, I had NO IDEA there were dog shows there! I only ever saw the livestock stuff and cars. I was truly missing out!! I would like to go this year and watch the obedience/agility at the Royal, but it's so damn expensive to get in!! P.S. If anybody entering has a spare ticket and wants a helper for the day, I'll volunteer
-
The Royal is a real tough environment so make sure this isn't your first trial Its also a very l o n g day but its great fun. Scoota's favourite event is the Royal - he gets to share fairy floss and lollies with all the kids Definitely won't do it as a first trial and I doubt we'll be ready for it this year but I'd love to come watch. Are you serious no car. Yep, that is why I think it's a hassle. You have to park your car off grounds (and pay for it!!) and walk your stuff in, dogs crated all day in designated area only. Or so I've heard I think entries close soon anyway so if you're not soon to be ready, you'll probably miss the cutoff for entries before you truly decide if you're ready or not
-
I can't see me entering a royal anytime soon, way too distracting and sounds like a real hassle with parking and setting dogs up! Couldn't take Millie, she'd bark her head off crated. At least having my car, I can reduce the noise pollution by locking her in there
-
I haven't read through the posts, but I'm guessing that it didn't get to 20 pages purely on offering advice! There has to be some sort of training debate going on here
-
Does anyone have tips on how to make a really easy peasy seesaw for a non-handy person? Or am I asking too much?
-
sounds like she's doing GREAT!! where is the video??? I think I might just have to film amy and miss trixie next week so all her fans can see
