  1. So did Millie Instead of having to teach her from scratch that stand still means stand STILL, I have just had to finetune it and we're almost there. Ruby on the other hand Stand still to her means jump all over the examiner! At least Abby doesn't do that!!!! But she just doesn't have the concept of not moving paws yet. One word: Labrador :D It's a wonder, or is that a worry, that we've made it to Open with those SFE's

  3. Ah yes, I train with amy for agility sometimes, but my extra spethal group for obedience is just me
  4. Well my special group consists of me, myself, and I. They're a great bunch of people to train with, but they're a negative bunch
  5. You might find that stays progress can go backwards and forwards for many years! Ruby's stays were fine until a WEEK before our first CCD trial. She layed down 10 seconds into it, and I've struggled to recover from that problem since!
  6. The problem I have at the moment with stays is the way Daisy will occasionally bark at me if she's bored I'll feel terrible if she does it in the ring!! Where do you look when you are doing stays with them? Me, well I glare at Ruby with a "you dare move and you're a dead girl" death stare I can't glare at her anymore, now I have to just PRAY she's still sitting there when I return after a long and agonising 3 minutes!
  7. Yes, CCD is the first one and it's on lead. CCD is optional, though, you can go straight into Novice (CD) if you wish, and that is offlead. Yep the only downside in QLD is that before you can compete in Novice you have to pass a Novice sweepstakes which doesn't count towards your title. So you have to do four trials to get your CD title. You need to move Cos that is really screwed
  8. Well done!! That's brilliant RS. Out of sight stays are one area I know we will need to work on heaps! I am confident we will go straight into Novice from CCD but training for Open will take a while. I think I'll give Daisy a bit of a break if we get both our CCD and CD titles before the end of the year and will try for Open next year. Daisy has got the basics of the dumbell down pat and will retrieve it over the jump but it's not polished at all and we have tonnes of things to work on. I'm still struggling to get a CCD/Novice 1 minute trial scenario sit stay out of Ruby, she still likes to lay down on occasion if she's hot or bored. Especially the bored part, if she's got nothing to look at while she sits there then she leans down to eat the grass (her favourite pastime!) and that leads to her then forgetting what she's doing and lays down to have a good old munch. Down stays she loves, it means she's closer to the grass

  10. Ruby so isn't ready for Open. If there's a darker patch of grass between the solid jump and me, she jumps over the jump with dumbell in mouth and runs around the patch of grass and presents almost at heel I swear that dog has some weird, weird phobias! She always likes to run around dark/strange patches in the grass like it's going to jump out and eat her Did a 3 minute out of sight sit stay last night (coming back a few times to treat) and BOTH girls did it beautifully!
  11. Woohoo huski! Kick some butt like we know you will!! How exciting, your first trials! Oh, and scary! I know that feeling I just have to keep telling myself that being nervous doesn't help matters, it can only make them worse actually and if she messes up she's going to anyway regardless of being nervous or not! But somehow, I can't convince myself of that Have fun You'll be hooked in no time  Edit: the dog is probably nervous for us screwing up, as us handlers can have dummy moments too
  12. I am pretty sure the Bunbury club is affiliated. They must be because they hold ANKC trials. Is that how it works? Yup
  13. I did originally say yes - but have not filled in any forms or paid any money and have in fact forgotten when it is. Life is a little hectic at the moment It's July 3 & 4. The registrations close June 18th. I'm yet to send my form off to . It's $80 which is a bit especially when ness is tempting me with new leads . $50 for us SRAODC members
  14. Thanks for the links everyone! I will dig through them all now. I did take a look at one of the first links posted and saw some really nice ones, but at the price! $60 for a name tag, I don't think so The Boomerang tags are a good idea
  15. I think I will get another lab, the only reason I would like another one is so that I can compete with both and then Mason also has company when I am not home. I think he must get very lonely with only the cats for company HMMM and my next puppy will be........ another red head Yep I would hate the others to get lonely Well when you drop Beans off then you'll have more room. I'd also like Cider, but pretty sure you won't part with her, so Beans it is
  16. The bolded bit, I don't think you'll have any problems with those in Perth! Travelling from Bunbury to Perth for a weekly obedience lesson sure is commitment, don't think I could do it myself. There are a few trialling people in both obedience and agility at the Bunbury dog club, that would be my first port of call if I lived in Bunbury!
  17. Trixie's not a puppy, she's 11 months old now I know I like puppies, and I do secretly look at puppy listings regularly But the reality is my two are already pretty close together in age (just over 2 years) and both are breeds that regularly last 12 - 15 years so it will probably be a long time before there is a third (5-10 years), and I would hope to be on a big block of land by then. And puppies are bl##dy hard work, I'm still recovering from the sleep I lost with Trixie Maye if I didn't have to work, such an inconvenience If I could own a large property, and not have to work, I'd have lots of dogs I'd even throw in my English Setter and just let it be my big lap dog
  18. Beagle was going to be either #3 or #4. There is no question about me owning one, it's just a matter of when And if Mr Council man will let me... Go on... if it's not for another 12-18 months we could get one from the same litter It will probably be longer than that for me, more like 3-5 years So anything could happen between then and now! I could still get an Aussie, or I could go back to the Beagle, OR, I could get another Lab if I ever figure out this retrieving thing with Ruby I love my yellow labs
  19. Does anyone have any links online to some interesting looking dog name tags? Ones a bit out of the ordinary, but still nice looking! I'm not interested in the standard ones you get online where you can choose a font and the machine prints it up, nor am I interested in the ones that are a disc with a paw print on them, I'm looking for something different I came across a link a while ago but can't find it anymore ;) They were kind of made out of a plastic like coating. Hope some of you can help me out with some ideas! Thanks!
  20. Yes, so does Millie, we can demonstate (poorly!) whatever you wanna see :p If you wanted to see perfection, you wouldn't be coming to me I understand it's just because Ptolomy isn't available ;)
  21. Come down to the lower oval at 8pm and we'll do some training :p I'm there tonight too if you want to head down. One evening a week is enough driving for me. I will be at the lower oval at 8 to get some tips! Plus if you want I can be your judge in SFE practice. Yes please, I need all the SFE practice we can get (for both girls!) and I wouldn't mind you being a figure 8 post for Millie
  22. i've been to her before and found her very helpful being a newbie myself. i am gonna try get out of tuesday nights so i can attend with my puppy she is hyper lol i got no finges left from stand training What breeds do you show?
