  1. You imply that one day I will have children for my grandchildren to buy one of your puppies. You have to like kids for that to happen!
  2. Yes I love theme litters. Ruby didn't come from one. I didn't know you had plans to breed! Chessies I'm guessing? Psst... what's the theme you have in mind? :D
  3. WA are getting ripped off! But can't fault their efficiency
  4. I am glad I went for laminate. For one, less hassle, I don't have access to a laminating machine. And secondly, it was a tad wet in my letterbox so the laminate ensured the certificate stayed nice And yes, I hope the rain goes away tonight! I have borrowed a dogwalk from an awesome lady and want to give it a whirl tonight!
  5. I want an awesome registered name for my next dog. [prefix] Ruby Star is ok, but certainly not awesome
  6. No I'd get confused too Millie already has the perfect name for her! Milliemoooooooooooo!!! Maybe I will register Ruby as LittleB!tch. :D
  7. I couldn't have been happier last night that Wed is my night off I was going to do some things in the backyard but thought nah, stuff it :D
  8. Is that the entire price to get your next title? I paid $18 for the title certificate (+ $3 to have it laminated ) but then it's another $22.40 to get the registration updated At least I think I'm looking at the fees list correctly
  9. So there's nothing stopping you from using your ANKC registered named for ADAA? I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, with earning different titles, you might get confused! Or maybe that's just me
  10. Nope. It has her registered name up the top (minus any titles), along with her sire and dam's name, breeder's name and owner's name, much like her registration does. Then underneath it says this dog is awarded the title of Companion Dog. I don't have it to hand right now, but nowhere can I remember it having a title appended to her registered name. Her CCD certificate was the same.
  11. That's a good idea, assuming the breeder cares! I know Ruby's breeder would love it
  12. She's on FIRE!! What should I register my 2 as then, amypie?? Edit: and you're not allowed to say MillieVanilli
  13. Reading your reply a bit more carefully this time! Quoting your last sentence, this is how I got confused and prompted my original post - I thought that, too. However, Ruby's doesn't have any of her titles on her CD title certificate. I would have thought the bare minimum would have said CCD, if not CD. But it's just her bare registered name on the certificate!
  14. Thanks bedazzledx2! Yes I too see it as a pointless exercise updating the certificate of registration when you are continually striving for another title! That's why I haven't, I am aiming higher I can see where it might be important say if you are breeding, and you want the titles up to date so puppy buyers can see it. But for my sterilized dog where noone is going to see her rego but me, waste of money!! Thank goodness applying for the title is enough for it to be valid!! ETA: So any litters that Brooklyn has sired, wouldn't have their sire listed on the pups pedigree with all the fancy titles he now has?
  15. I'm only watching . I just meant I've sent off my membership form and I'm going to watch the trial not enter - I'm not that crazy . You're eager to be joining already, though! ;) Have fun watching! I haven't watched an ADAA one before, maybe one day I will! When we're ready for trialling I will probably join too and trial with them also. The membership was only $15 for 3 years so I thought why not - hopefully we'll be trialing by then . Awesome, so cheap! What is Banjo registered as? (name wise).
  16. Credit for that goes to Amypie or RS or Mirawee. Can't exactly remember which. I think Amy first mentioned it

  18. OK dummy question time! Hope someone can help! I sent off for Ruby's CD Title Application on Monday, and received her certificate in the mail today (awesome speedy service by Dogswest I have to say! ) I didn't opt to have her updated certificate of registration sent to me (as it means sending in her original and extra costs), as my understanding was formerly applying for the title means she officially has the title now. But now something in me is telling me that to officially have the title, I need to get her certificate of registration updated and swapped over. Do I or don't I? Reason I am now thinking I haven't done it properly is because her title certificate doesn't have CCD written next to it, from when I last sent off for her CCD (nor CD from this time). I thought updating the registration paper was just for show and your own records, but on their records it has changed. Is this not the case? Hope someone can explain it to me!
  19. This ADAA business means agility training on a Friday night get cancelled a fair bit at Gosnells! I'm a member there too and have been meaning to get down there to do some agility. I guess not this week
  20. Wow Tiggy, you're keen! ADAA trial already?
  21. I'm about to start trialling my Lab in Open and also starting her in Retrieving. I have found that learning the obedience dumbell retrieve and the heelwork is giving me a slight headstart on the retrieving side, but we'll soon see what bad habits have crept in from obedience when I transition it properly to retrieving She's my first dog trained in anything so I can only learn by doing, and mistakes will be made along the way but hopefully I will learn from them for the next dog I want to do obedience/retrieving with
  22. paddles, I had a dog who would do the same thing. I'd throw something, she'd pounce after it, then walk away from it without touching it. I was at the thought of having to teach the dog to pick things up as this came very naturally for my first dog. Using the basic principle of shaping the dumbell retrieve in the link bedazzled posted, I slowly built her up into picking it up (off the floor and out of my hand) and now we have a formal dumbell retrieve Trust me, it can be done with a dog like that with some time, patience and persistance!!
  23. Gosh I wish I could, but not sure if it would reduce my stress in the workplace! I'd have a Labrador or two annoying everyone for cuddles They'd just wiggle their butts up to each and everyone in the office My boss knows I'm dog crazy, and I've asked him several times if I can bring them in. Answer is always just him laughing. Wasn't technically a no
  24. I'm ok with it at the moment. I'd rather them enjoying it than hating it
  25. I don't tug with my girls and agility. They like food and they find getting to run a course rewarding enough on its own (and having trouble with my obedience trained dog to wait at the start line! She wants to jump it on her own!) I use food for training contacts and weaving (and the i-squeak if I run out of food!) Rivsky, well drown and River go hand in hand at "put your dog down" I know Ruby can be a cow sometimes but I think that's a bit too severe a punishment!
