  1. Which is what I plan on doing now. I'm not fussed if I don't move up to the next class in 9 weeks, I am going to spend time getting the dog walk confidence back before re-introducing the see-saw. We need to know see-saw too to move up. Staying back and building the basics with confidence is much more important to me
  2. One way of knowing you take your training seriously? You get to work and you find a clicker, i-squeak and poo bags in your handbag
  3. Woohoo way to go Kyzer!! (oh, and the handler!) I tried a rear cross on Ruby last night coming out of the tunnel and to a braod jump and nope, no amount of getting her attention that I am now on the other side while she was in the tunnel was going to make her swing that way In all fairness, we've done no training for rear crosses. My backup plan on this dogwalk business is hopefully Sue H, if she'll take me on I really foresee it being a problem just because I've seen her scared of similar things before!
  4. Monday night = obedience night for both girls. Tuesday night = agility night for Ruby (the only night we are in an actual class). Thursday night = agility & obedience for both girls. Usually do a few things around home with them on the weekend if not trialling.
  5. Need to slap you girlie first problem and you have gone into meltdown - now getoverit and put a plan in place to try at your next session ;) Yes I have gone into meltdown cos I've seen this fear in her before, it isn't good But I am going to try again on Thursday. If that fails, I have a backup plan
  6. Well the other weird thing, is she wasn't scared of the see-saw. It was only about 10-20cm off the ground, and we started off by banging it with them next to it and treating. Progressed to walking on it. Ruby knows how to put 2 front paws on things so I had her putting her front paws on the end to bang it herself and she thought it was a nice game. No fear at all. Though when she walked across it and it tilted down, she appeared to be a bit unsteady on her feet but she was concentrating on the treat that she wasn't watching where she put her feet. I will have to work on naming them now, wasn't going to put a name on the see-saw til she knew it, so I guess this didn't help matters. I really hope I can get this solved soon, it's gotten me a bit down She was doing so well until this mishap.
  7. Very weird. Thursday at training I wanna get one side of a dog ramp and run her over that (which she has no problem with, we did that after the dogwalk incident). Then gradually raise it up on a table and see how she goes.
  8. Luring her wasn't working. She would get a few steps up and jump off. Lifting her up onto it just made her legs go stiff but kinda wobbly at the same time if that makes any sense at all What is weird is that she was doing the dog walk after the see-saw, but I did notice she was going cautiously up it, then sped up once she got to the level part. We didn't do the see-saw again between that and her crapping herself. All of a sudden she just wouldn't go up it She's done the full heigh dogwalk before too so it has to be the see-saw that caused her to become fearful. She used to have a problem with ramps about a year ago, but all of a sudden she got over that and did the full height dog walk. Now she's back to being fearful Did nothing to overcome her previous fear, it just went away itself. I want to cure this one asap or I could have a real problem...
  9. Agility training tonight was pretty up and down. I had a focused dog who wasn't misbehaving by pulling me to greet every dog, which makes a pleasant change! Eager to do the obstacles. Until... introducing her to the see-saw make her crap her dacks on the once fun dog walk Now we can't get her back on the dog walk And it's not even that far off the ground! Feeling very disheartened now and don't know how to fix the problem On the obedience side, did another short out of sight sit stay and she did that well
  10. Especially considering my LABRADORS get 1.5 - 2 cups a day each! And might I add, my Labs are lean - 24.5kg a piece. Good luck getting her weight down, some great advice in here
  11. My Ruby is too cute I had some floor tiles delivered yesterday ready to get my laundry/sleepout tiled, and last night I laid one on the floor to see what it looked like in the room. I stood back to have a look and Ruby goes up to it and places her front 2 paws on it. Yup, she thought we were doing some perch work I get her off it to look at it, she hops back on, looking at me expectantly I had to pick it up in the end, cos she kept going back to it
  12. If I had them with me I'd scan it for ya's Looks simple, should be simple, but the damn poles appear waaaaaaay too long for the thing!! But anyhoo, I'm sure I will have it sorted this weekend with someone who knows what they're doing (and if not, it's going back to the shop for a refund! )
  13. Mental note: point and laugh at amy's little dog coats next time you see them I may have to order two now Poor Millie feels it worse than Ruby of course, but Ruby hates the heat too. We can have them on the dogs during group stays, right? That is when Ruby really needs it. Edit: though they might help with the heat, they won't help with the boredom Ruby suffers in group stays! She gets fidgety
  14. Yes they have arrived. I will bring mine on the weekend for you to have a look at and you can make your own decision. Its been too cold to try them out and because I haven't wet it yet - they say be careful - you know usual shammy warnings. :D Thanks, I'll take a look on the weekend then and might order the girls one. Sheesh, never mind that I have a wishlist of things I want to buy myself - my dogs get everything instead!!
  15. I started out of sight stays with both dogs last night, am pleased it went better than expected!! Room for improvement most definitely before being ready to trial in Open, but am still pleased!
  16. Ptolomy / amypie - did you guys get your cool coats yet that you ordered? The cheaper ones that were posted somewhere here a while ago. How good/bad are they?
  17. I already have 4 slip leads, and no money spare, but I want to order a red and a teal one from here :D
  18. There is never anything I actually want in the free shipping section!! But the slip lead would be good, the ones I have are too thick (even though I purposely ordered them thick )
  19. Yes indeed I will be! Sorry I should have pointed out that what I meant was if it starts at 10.30 and gates supposedly open at 10.30, what about vetting :D So I shall just ignore the gates thing mentioned in the show part and just go with what I normally do for obedience! Hmmm I may have to get there earlier than I usually do so someone can help me assemble a shade :D
  20. bedazzledx2 is going to help me on the weekend so once she can show me the art of shade assembly, I will pass on the wisdom
  21. So I was on the right track, I had the blunt ends with the rubber bits in the little mesh pockets at the top, but the poles are extending waaaaaaaaaaay past the fabric on the other end to get the pins anywhere near the end of the poles! :D Thanks a lot, I look forward to the help! :D :D Do you have the poles crossed over in the middle? The extra length is to make the curve but I found mine was easy to put the pins into the end of the poles. If you still have it attached to the car, I'd take it off just to see if it makes a difference and really bend the poles up to get the pin to fit in. Never made it as far as attaching to the car That was the next step after the one I got stuck at
  22. Because this is easier and it's a hugeass thing that I am pretty sure they won't help assemble in store! Plus, it's mainly kids that work there for their casual job who wouldn't have a clue! Thought I'd put the question out there for people who have actually used one :D :D
  23. I'm a bit confused about the trial/show on this Saturday at K9 dogswest.com says this: The All Breeds Dog Club of WA Championship Show - Saturday 22nd May 2010 Revised start time 12.30 pm. Gates will not opne until 10.30am. Events at the Canine Centre Saturday 22nd May 2010 WEST COAST ROTTWEILER CLUB Obedience Trial Vetting Time: 9.30-9.45am Judging Time: 10.30am Enquires: 0404 187 135 They are saying gates don't open til 10.30am for the show, yet the obedience at the same venue starts at 10.30. Huh?!
  24. Where is the trial?? Arthur River, about 2 and a half hours away. It goes all long weekend apparently. Do you want to come? Camping out is involved
