  1. I think it's even funnier when people you've never met before make comments on your dogs. A woman was walking down the street when I was and spoke to my girls, well that was it, they wanted a pat then! We got talking and she asked me about Labs cos they were looking for a dog cos their BC had recently passed, when she commented about how long I had had the brown one for and me training them. I looked at her weirdly and she mentioned she'd seen me training just the yellow one in the park quite often then the brown one came along! I've never seen her before yet she knew all about them Was walking them both another time when a lady was walking her dog on the other side of the road and she yells out to me "wow you've got 2 now!" Umm, who are you?? What was nice though was I heard her bend down to her dog and say "see look, why can't you walk like them!"
  2. Is it the weekend, yet? I'm so royally bored at work. Doing everything in myy power not to fall asleep!! Think I may need to go and buy a 4 pack of red bull
  3. Oooh I have lots to choose from then :D
  4. Oh gee, thanks VCBR :D Remind me to find something to laugh at you about
  5. Pfft, what about the obedience dogs having to perform IN the weather!! :D
  6. Is the weather meant to be bad this weekend? Bugger :D
  7. Oops, missed this one. No I haven't seen it yet, would love to have a look! Thanks :D
  8. Enter? No, no, definitely just going to watch!!! :D Taking Ruby for exposure and a bit of training while out there :D
  9. Where's your sense of adventure, MM! And you and hubby aren't joined at the hip But I can understand not wanting to pee in the bush. I don't wanna but gonna have to! I'm looking forward to it, even if it means going on my own
  10. Brings back memories of year 7 camp... memories I don't wish to relive! Yeah, mine do Quite loudly! But thankfully it only goes for less than 5 minutes and they're quiet again.
  11. Did I? Yeah, probably sounds like something I'd say :D It's ok, we won't hold it against you
  12. I'm going to "rough it" in the back of my car with hopefully an air mattress, lots of big doonas for comfort and warmth, and pillows. But I will have to pee in the bushes, so I really will be roughing it!!
  13. Why yes, Ruby is my camping buddy afterall! That and because it would fit snugger in the back of my Tucson. If I stretch out on a single, I will fall off and get cold!!
  14. Does anybody have a double air mattress I could possibly borrow for the long weekend?
  15. Bummer, I'd like to give jumping a go
  16. Sounds like you're going to be busy I used the method for Millie (though I more used the shaping concept she talks about, not exactly step by step of what she writes) and I did it in many short sessions. I didn't train it religously so it took Millie a while, but now she does a very enthusiastic dumbell retrieve
  17. Which Sunday and where? Is it obedience and/or agility? At K9 for agility this Sunday (I think) Not me, got a trial on at GSDA! I didn't know there was an agility show and go on
  18. Ah ok, thanks :D The term "show and go" is used for the mock trials for obedience and agility so I got confuzzled
  19. Where is the trial?? Arthur River, about 2 and a half hours away. It goes all long weekend apparently. Do you want to come? Camping out is involved :D Will need to work out OH work schedule, when is the long weekend in June?? We dont have any camping gear, could maybe come for one night though. June 4th and 5th I think I will be camping (or just sleeping in my car!). June 7 is the holiday day off (Monday).
  20. Which Sunday and where? Is it obedience and/or agility?
  21. A little update on the dogwalk problem we started having last night. I got home tonight and got out the ramp I have for my car (which never gets used for the car!) and propped one end up on my back step (which isn't very high). She started offering her front paws on it before I had a chance to ask for anything, so I C/T any interaction she had with it. Got her to run up it (and through the doorway ) no problems Also worked her coming down it and worked on 2o2o contact position. So it's a start! Then I raised it to the doorway level and she still did it no worries :D I will hopefully get the real thing out tomorrow night at training and lay it on the ground for her to run over. Will then raise it slightly onto a table. Fingers crossed that goes well! I will also be keeping seesaw and dogwalk to different training sessions, and introducing a clear new word for the seesaw. Also won't get her to run over the seesaw just yet, will just reward her for banging it when she puts her paws on it The surprise of the night - Millie's 2o2o contact is looking better than Ruby's at the moment
  22. huski, try throwing her reward for dropping behind her and then sending her to get it (so you don't have to do the whole exercise of her then coming to you after the drop). She is getting closer to you before she drops because they gravitate towards the reinforcement (ie. treat coming from you), so if you throw it behind her she should start dropping quicker, in anticipation of the reward being thrown. Start closer to you and work your way out. Also if you haven't already done so, play the 2 food game in this. Call her to you, get her to drop on her way, click then throw a treat with a command to go get it, then as she runs back to you, drop again, click and throw treat. She will start dropping quicker to get the treat thrown quicker
  23. No I haven't, but on the odd occasion she has herself (due to trying to get her back into contact position), and I was trying to discourage it... but what you say does make sense.
  24. Has payment due date passed for that already?
