Thank goodness Lincoln is ok!! I too am wondering why they opened him up without knowing for sure there was a blockage ;) I have pet insurance for my two. PetPlan for one and Medibank Private for the other. Very good thing to have :D

Are Utility Gundog Working Tests different to GWT? I don't think I've seen any GWT here in Perth, I'd love to see one and perhaps do one.

Get a Lab, come on, you know you want one :D ;)

Sending healing vibes to Lincoln! Poor little man. Please let us know how he gets on!

Though can I ask for another 5-7 days in the week so I can fit everything in! Of course these extra days are not classed as "work days" :D

A possible intestinal blockage. More info in WA threads and in the health section. Oh no, poor little man. I'll check out the WA thread soon

You do realise that you have to hold dead birdies in retrieving right? :D So does your dog
-
Don't forget the dead bunnies! I had to hold them by their legs :D They freaked me a bit. You don't wanna see what I had to do to the birdies to put them in the thrower

Not my cute little Beans! I was driving past the K9 on my way back from down south probably around the time the trial started. I contemplated popping by but then I thought I better get home and shower By the time I was showered, I could have been down to do stays with Beans :D Woohoo congrats caffy on your title! And congrats to Scoota, he certainly is a clever boy

I'd love to go! Maybe in the future if I win Powerball or something Great tips PAX!!

That's why I prefer night time trials, you don't get weird looks when you bring out a Vodka Cruiser like you do if you do it at a morning trial for some reason

I've been away for the long weekend to learn the tricks of the trade in retrieving ;) So no trialling brags from me. But I did take Ruby away with me so I could get in some training with her and have some quality bonding time My small brag is Ruby had her first birdy on the weekend! She did a water mark with a bird, swam her heart out and returned with it, then instead of her usual trick of dropping the dummy on the bank and shaking, then struggling to get her to pick it up again to bring it to hand, with the bird she actually got out of the water, proceeded up the bank without dropping it and shaking, got halfway to me and couldn't hold the shake any longer so she shook, BUT, she didn't drop the bird! Shake over, she continued on and delivered bird to hand AND without munching it :p Back to dummies this morning on land and in water and she dropped it, naughty girl So some presents with the dummy are on the training agenda! What a great weekend, learnt heaps, and have come away with some training exercises to get me started P.S. Small brag for ME, I handled dead birds all weekend as well as dead bunnies, and didn't freak out

Wow I go away for a weekend and come to a stack of brags!!! Hope I don't miss anyone!! Well done bedazzled and Brooklyn on 199 in UD, sorry I missed that!! Congrats JulesP on Poppy's starters! Congrats smisch, staffylover81 and Agility Dogs on your awesome agility runs! Woohooo amypie you are closer to your AD! Shame about the excellent jumping but I am sure you will get that in no time! ValleyCBR, what happened to Lincoln?

Great stuff! I especially love the fronts, I have front envy Love her purple bits too (so glad they're not pink cos then that statement mightn't have been very appropriate!! )
-
The MOST IMPORTANT THING to bring to a trial, is alcohol and nibblies!!!
-
Awesome! Good luck!! But don't forget to train for boredom, too!!! My dog is more likely to stay put in a distracting environment because it's entertaining to her, than she is when there is nothing going on
-
Woooohoooo Ptolomy!!!! :D I'd have pink bubbly on your behalf, but I don't drink the stuff! So I'll have a couple of cruisers for you on the weekend and raise my glass, erm, bottle to you! :D

Do You Walk Your Dog No Matter What The Weather ?
RubyStar replied to mrs tornsocks's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hell no, my dogs would hate me for it -
She is beautiful, no wonder you're proud!
-
Big C/T for the usually negative handler then? :D I'm sure once we get to a full size seesaw she will crap herself again ;) You'll do fine on the weekend!! And as you say, it's all practice :D I'm sure Kyzer forgives you for your dummy handler moments last night, seeing as you did have to get up at a time of day that nobody should have to experience!!
-
How come?! We'll miss you! P.S. there is another retrieving training day coming up :D ;)

What Is It About Cold Dog Poo....
RubyStar replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
What an interesting thread I think I remember reading something like this a while ago For me, I prefer warm and soft, because it moulds better in your hand (that is protected by poo bag!) and you have more chance of getting it all in the bag, as opposed to cold and hard where it doesn't mould and half of it falls out when you have a small hand! :D Oh boy, this could only be normal on a dog fourm ;) -
Love the poem tiggy, so true Well agility was interesting tonight. My dogwalk-phobic dog thinks playing the banging game on the see-saw is just the most fun ever! Go figure I took her onto the wobble board while everyone else with their normal non-phobic dogs () did the contact equipment, and she loved it. I know she loves target games with her front paws and the banging of the seesaw never bothered her before, so I thought I'd just ask her to paw it and "bang it!!" Great she thought! Can we do it again? And again? So we did it a few times from the very end, and as her enthusiasm grew, I moved it back towards the beginning and she did it each time, to the point I had her walking across it. I made it clear that it was different to the dogwalk by saying "bang it!" instead of the dogwalk "walk it!" Not once did she show fear of the seesaw. Back to the dogwalk, I just treated her for any interaction with it. She was jumping up onto it, taking a step, and jumping off. Sometimes she'd take 2 steps then I'd treat and encourage her to jump off before she could do it for herself. Each time she took a few more steps, the treats I placed further up were enticing :D To the point she actually got half way across on her own and saw the other end and thought yippee there is my way out! She picked up speed and fled down the other side. So big cheers and jackpot time and I left it there ;) I knew not to push my luck and do it again this session!! I think her dummy handler is finally learning something ;) Yay for slow progress! But I won't count my chickens just yet, next session she is likely to "remember" she's scared of it
