  1. Thanks for the support,I will give her less.Yes,i really wish and hope there is another option rather than put her through surgery, seems too cruel, she love life, but I would not keep her because of my love for her, also don't want to be haste and make the wrong discision, this is hell, all I can do is think about her. There might be another option, and that is to get the excess weight off her. She is double the weight she should be, she must look fat, I think you are just used to seeing her that way and dont realise how fat she is. What have you been feeding her and how much have you been giving her?
  2. Seems odd that the vet couldn't tell from looking at her that she was far too fat to operate on. How much and what have you been feeding her. Do you leave food down all the time because that's a no no. You need to get her weight off but exercise would be difficult, what about swimming, it's non weight bearing and will burn up some calories, that combined with a healthy eating regime should help her alot.
  3. I might have misunderstood, I thought you meant he wanted the reimbursment for the puppy or do you mean he only wants the extra he would've paid for full pedigree papers? In which case it's only $30 or so isn't it. Could you send him the papers but write on them deceased and also tell him you've informed Dogs Vic that the puppy died.
  4. Same here, and that goes for animals in Australia too, although I am pretty sure I wouldn't knowingly eat dog or cat, even if it was humanely slaughtered.
  5. ME hahahaha I've bought at least 2 lenses thanks to DOL me too, and one because of YOU!!!
  6. trifecta, great story and pictures. Thanks CM that pics is very cute, he looks lost in thought. Huga, I love the pudgy little toddler legs and Pointees, wah? that dog could try out for the Socceroos.
  7. sorry, I dont know. You can look on POTN but you have to have at least 30 posts before you can sell and, I think, buy. I bought a lens off there about a year ago. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14
  8. It's not even about the money, it's just that people like your art enough to buy it. That's how I'd feel anyway, although I wouldn't scoff at the money either. Good on your dear Mum too.
  9. woo hoo you're off to a great start. I wonder how many of us have bought cameras because of or at least largely influenced by looking in Photos here on DOL.
  10. here are our two old bags who fight.... half asleep on 'their chairs' Butter wouldn't melt..... Oh come on now, those sweet old things?
  11. I know the feeling, I just want to look at mine and sigh..................
  12. wow, how exciting. Where did you get the second hand lenses? I think you'll love the macro and the 50.
  13. all on our walk this morning. Here's a bug going about its business. and an ibis doing its thing.
  14. thanks again for understanding. You're right, I would never hurt my dogs intentionally. Penny is alot happier now the pain meds have kicked in. I was telling a friend about it and she said tell Penny to take up knitting because she is much too old to be brawling and picking fights.
  15. yep that's what I loved too. zooooom!
  16. have a look, it only takes 16 seconds.
  17. I've had whippets for 25 years now and 23 of them have been with bitches together, so I'd say I am reasonably experienced. My poor Penny as I suspected, has a cracked rib, and yes I take the blame for it, ;) but thankfully even the vet agreed that I did what I needed to do at the time, if I'd left them to sort it out, I would have been digging holes right now. They were completely oblivious to me, my shouting and my clobbering at the time, just goes to show what adrenaline does. I am sorry dearest Penny that I broke you. She's been prescribed some painkillers and rest for the next 2 weeks.
  18. The Vic whippet assoc. strongly advise against buying through newspapers and say they're all from puppy farmers, unless they specify VCA registered. As I am no longer a member of the Vic whippet assoc. if I was to breed another litter the newspaper would probably be one of the places I might advertise, oh and of DOL of course.
  19. One of your requirements was that it wasn't too heavy. The 7D is alot heavier than the rebel range (450D-1000D) It's also got masses of controls that might send you into meltdown intially and it doesn't have as many auto options as the rebels. Honest, I think the rebels are a fantastic starting point, you my find you never need another camera.
  20. Hmmmm Penny needs some good healing vibes, she's still not too good, she cant jump up or down off the bed and whimpers when I pick her up. They kept themselves quiet yesterday and I decided to just let them rest but I am getting a bit concerned now. I have my suspicions as to what it might be but I'll let the vet figure it out.
  21. Yes, this has been my experience rather than what Sas has experienced. While it's generally managable with my girls there's always an underlying tension between the 2 of them. The last fight was almost 2 years ago, so it's not a frequent occurrence but I think it would've been if I hadn't been more careful.
  22. It was a serious fight but I haven't separated them, I am just supervising at this stage. I wouldn't leave them unattended, Kibah is clearly afraid of Penny ATM but if Penny eyeballs her I tell her to move away. My two haven't got over it yet, maybe it's different with danes. Not sure what you mean about getting our shit together.
