Wow, that video is really good, makes me want to run out and buy some dental tools and do my own dogs if they ever need it. Tag and Puck dont but Feather occasionally needs to have a bit of plaque picked off and I'm told IGs are notorious for having bad teeth.

If it's so easy to do while they're awake it makes me wonder why vets knock them out.
-
here's the other mobs facebook page. It clearly says no sedation but one photo shows a dogs mouth with the tongue sticking out. like it's unconscious. https://www.facebook.com/caninedentalhygiene?ref=br_rs&pnref=lhc

there's another one who's been advertising on facebook for a few weeks now, not associated with this bloke. I asked if she sedates them at all or if she's a vet. No to both questions. I too wonder how they manage it. A few of the photos show the dog just laying there and I cannot help wondering if it's had a sedative. I wonder if they let you stay and watch.

sure does take good photos. Are you still in the West? How's it going?

Do You Love One Breed But Not Love A Similar Breed?
Kirislin replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
Me too. I'd love to see show greyhounds run. I once asked a friend who used to have both show and racing dogs why they looked so different and he said it's because the show greyhounds are bred from coursing lines. I'd love to see them course. I wonder how much stamina and agility they'd have. -
There's some fab photos here, not mine, it's a club in Norway. https://www.facebook.com/Lurecoursing?fref=photo&sk=photos

I'll bet everyone's got gooey dog stories. I got told one last night. It's very short but not sweet. A friend of mine noticed his dogs' anal glands looked swollen so he decided to express them himself. He's done it before so he knows how, but this time something didn't go quite to plan and he got squirted in the face! Shot! right on the forehead!!

Do You Love One Breed But Not Love A Similar Breed?

I like the look of working GSDs but not show ones. I dont even know if they're classed as the same breed. -
cool! I slept through most of it even though it was pretty loud here. a couple of Christmases ago I took some time exposure shots using a fence post to balance the camera on. they're the only lightning shots I have managed to get.

You'll sound like a real pro then, everyone will think you know what you're talking about

It was definitely worth the risk, that is one speccy shot!!

It wasn't my dog, it belonged to a friend. I'm not one to kill snakes, I'm generally on the side of the snake and have re-located several. I have to ask though about your statement of a slow and terrifying death for a decapitated snake. Wouldn't it be dead immediately if you chopped its head off?
-
I think, although I'm not certain, that if I saw a snake again in my backyard here, I would probably lock all the dogs inside and then don some gumboots and turn the garden hose on it HARD and try to steer it out of the yard. I could kill it but it's probably one of many that I dont see. I'm not worried about them for myself, it's just the dogs. Tag's the one who might attack it and then egg the others on as well. The whippets I had before this lot had an instinctive fear of them so I never had to worry, they'd keep away.

I love whippets but they've changed so much from the dog I fell in love with in just 30, years that I'm not a fan of the modern whippet I see these days in the show ring. I love the small curvy compact slightly aloof little dog, but if I tried to continue to breed that I'd certainly never win in the showring with it, and would probably be frowned upon by breeders for breeding inferior dogs. -
very cute, that's quite a long way for little dogs to run. It didn't look too twisty turny but less chance of injuries that way. If you start taking her alot she'll soon learn to "empty out" (that's what the greyhound trainers call it) before she runs if you give her to opportunity to. :D

can you find the link to this one? I'd like to see it. Was it in Australia? Perrin, I saw a dead snake of a very similar colour to the one you posted the pic of. It had a blondie colour with a metallic sheen. I thought it might have been a copperhead.

No seaweed, I had to stop them from eating a few unrecognisable dead things and Neko swallowed some sea water.

boring dogs wouldn't do much for the camera. IMG_0633dppt by kirislin, on Flickr IMG_0636dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

I took the dogs to the beach yesterday. Neko's never been before. If she could swear I think I know what she'd be saying here when she shows her alarm at seeing the waves coming in for the first time. IMG_0626dppt by kirislin, on Flickr IMG_0627dpptt by kirislin, on Flickr IMG_0648dpp by kirislin, on Flickr she started to relax after a bit though IMG_0633dppt by kirislin, on Flickr and then to explore, and everything was interesting. Makes you wonder how Italians could ever bear to leave Italy when you see these photos and think of the lifestyle they have there doesn't it.

we went to 2 beaches today and had a great time, but geeze the council signage is confusing. I'd looked on a website and found that Flinders is off leash but when I got there it said it was on leash from daylight savings. Then I went to Carrum, I'd already phoned them yesterday to confirm the beach is 24 hr off leash. Yes but only from Osprey lane she tells me. When I got there the first sign did indeed say 24 hour off leash all year or words to that effect, but once on the beach it said it's on leash! so I did a bit of both.

Just A Vent About Numpty Owners And Off Leash Dogs.
Kirislin replied to Malakita's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have to put my hand up in shame today. I took the dogs to an off leash beach and we'd been for a long walk up and back with not a soul in sight. Then luckily I at least had Tag back on the leash and was about to put Puck on too when he spied a woman appear from a bush track with 2 dogs on leash. He pelted over to them barking as he does if he gets the chance. I called him back and he came, but not quickly enough for my liking. If you are a DOLer I apologise. He's not aggressive but it's not good enough, it was a lapse in concentration on my part. -
I see these warning threads from other DOLers reminding us to be careful and watch out for snakes but this time it's happened to a friend. Her beautiful little rescue dog Dash died yesterday from a tiger snake bite. I knew him, he was such a sweet little dog.
