  1. It was brand new when I took the photos. It's quite a few years ago now so I'd be expecting it to look a bit worn, especially if it's had a lot of use and not been cleaned. Glad the stitching is still good though.
  2. No, it wouldn't fit a dally neck.
  3. I love this collar on Feather, I think it's so pretty. I didn't make it but I modified it to make it wider, give it more surface area.
  4. Yes, that's one of mine. The only time I worked in cow hide. All hand stitched, no machines here. It was a copy/replica of an antique sighthound collar I saw on ebay. Seems to be unused found the pics I took of it to sell on ebay. They're in my old photobucket account that I haven't looked in for ages. Been a bit of a trip down memory lane. Tag the model. This is a buckle collar I made for a friends whippet. Still out of kangaroo hide. I didn't want to make her a buckle collar but it's what she wanted at the time, she didn't believe my limited slip ones were any good, but a couple of years later she asked for one of them as well. this was a prototype, my first buckle collar I think. Not very good but I used it on Kibah for years and it is still usable, but Kibah is no longer with me. It's about as blingy as I get, I prefer plain and functional. 6 strand plaited choker as a set
  5. I used to plait too. I would buy whole hides and hand cut the lacing. Cant find any photos of it except this one, but I used to make much finer ones for showing with little swivels on them, and was very proud that Mary Lowe (famous in the whippet world) bought one of my very fine little show slips and told me it was exquisite. That's my brag. :D Made by ME! by kirislin, on Flickr
  6. Horrendous. That's a shame because your craftmanship is wonderful. thankyou. It was pretty awful at the time because I loved making them. My market was quite specific, whippets and IGs mostly so it wasn't like I was flooding the canine market. They were also unique because I used kangaroo hide. I never found anywhere else that used solid roo to make collars. Plaiting yes but not straight roo hide, that was my idea, of which I was quite proud. :D
  7. I love that Gruf has his name on the buckle.
  8. Many thanks all for your lovely comments. I still get the occasional phone call from over seas about them which is always very flattering. Maybe I'll get back into it one day. I like Didis blue side bandana better, but I suppose that makes people think she's a boy even more.
  9. thankyou too. Here's a pic of the roo hide sighthound collars I used to make. handmade sighthound collars by kirislin, on Flickr
  10. I used to make them and sell them all over the world, purely by word of mouth but I had a crazy stalker. Only when I stopped making them did she go away.
  11. and her gorgeous jewelled collar that Iggy Mum gave her. She wears her best clothes out even to lure racing. 5F6A3502dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
  12. Not really blingy but I made this collar and really liked it on her until her brat of a brother chewed it. I think Marcus let him because he never liked it. Neek Neek. by kirislin, on Flickr
  13. Pudding..... Gorgeous photos. Pia is a star.
  14. I loved the one of the dog wanting the statue to throw a ball.
  15. Pleased to say I'm not seeing any signs that Neko was bitten by the spider. :)
  16. Kibah (RIP) could indentify spiders and knew huntsmans were safe. If a wolf spider ran across the floor she wouldn't touch it, but if it was a huntsman she'd pounce, nip it, fling it (while I ran around screaming in case it came near me) nip it, fling it again, until it was stupified helpless and then she'd eat it.
  17. I bet the cops looked at the video and said "that's xxxx!" and went straight round there. What a creep. I hope the dog is OK.
  18. They're reason enough for me not to live in NSW
  19. Yes, I dont think he'll be hurt by them. Primates are the only ones who are at risk of dying from their bite, oh, and the little insects and bugs that they bite of course.
  20. she's been pelting around as normal ever since it happened so I think she's going to be ok.
  21. Have a look here for some amazing  lightning photos!! https://open.abc.net.au/explore/74457#74117
  22. I've settled down a bit now and am thinking she'd be pawing at her mouth or showing some sign she'd been bitten I think. I caught her doing her usual daisy ninja and clobbering it to death with her little paws. I think she's OK. The spider isn't feeling so good though.
  23. I found Neko playing with a white tailed spider about 20 minutes ago. I dont know if it's bitten her or not. Anyone know how long it might take before the effects show?
  24. Buying from interstate is always fraught with risk. Australian consumer law still applies - he didn't get what he paid for - he could send the puppy back and ask for his money back. If he'd gone there to pick the puppy up - he could have looked at it and left it there. It does cut both ways, the breeder has to do their research and the buyer has to do their research. Just because the breeder has a pretty website with FIGJAM testimonials on it - doesn't mean they're responsible. Same with the buyer - you have to find a way to verify what they say from some other source. This really struck a chord with me. I was talking to a breeder recently who said that she was very proud that her lines had been health tested for 4 generations, but when I asked her what health tests she suddenly became very vague, and I never did find out what they'd been tested for, or if they'd been found clear because she ceased contact with me. Talk's cheap.
