  1. That advice should be removed from this thread, its the most dangerous piece of uneducated bull sh*t I have ever read here. What you are potentially doing is going to make the dog hate babies :
  2. We have children and will spend quite a few days at theme parks etc. Unfortunately Australia do not cater for dogs at those places (You will be interested to know that at LegoLand in the UK, there is a kennel you can book your dog into WHILE you are at LegoLand, its on the property - How cool is that!!!). Additionally flying 4 rottweilers to QLD is NOT an option *LOL* and I dont want to drive there. I try and mix up our holidays a bit when we go as a family to Newcastle for a show - I go to the show with our daughter and hubby and son spend time together fishing (its a holiday for them). We stay an extra few days after the show and its quite nice. We also go to O/S on some of our holidays and well we cant take the dogs to US or Europe as I am not quarantining them. In a perfect world I would like to take them with me but its not a perfect world and they cant come all the time.
  3. Thanks everyone, have contacted Ruthless to see what she can do (would prefer to give a doler business ), but if she isn't able to help me the ones at K9Pro look like what I am after
  4. :D so sorry Gayle. I know she has taken a piece of your heart with her and will be waiting with a ball in her mouth when you meet again.
  5. Okay I need to get my puppies a new collar each and I want decent leather ones that dont break they bank as they are rottweilers and grow pretty damn fast. They will be 16 weeks old on Sunday and have just about out grown their rogz collars. Any recommendations? I am looking at getting them a custome Ruthless' collar each when they are older so that they dont grow out of them :D Thank you

  7. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/national/...6-1225990327631 Rottweiler shot at close range with arrow would be a lucky dog to survive Tim Vollmer From: The Daily Telegraph January 18, 2011 1:35PM A FAMILY pet is fighting for its life after being deliberately shot at close range with an arrow which pierced 30cms into its body, narrowly missing vital organs. Police are investigating the extreme case of animal cruelty which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on a rural property at Bringelly, in Sydney's south. The dog, a rottweiler called Demon owned by 15-year-old James Herreen since it was a pup, was apparently shot from behind just metres from the house at about 4.15am, with the family hearing two male voices soon after. "I really can't believe it, that anybody could be that stupid and cruel to an animal," father Michael Herreen said. "The vet said it was done deliberately and at close range. "They would have had to be on our property, you couldn't shoot him from the road." Marilyn Gill, who performed the emergency surgery on Demon alongside husband Jim at the Austral Veterinary Hospital, said he was an "extremely lucky dog" to survive the attack. "At one stage both of us had our hands in there because it was just so difficult," she said. "No animal deserves that." The seriousness of the injury was only obvious once an x-ray of Demon's abdomen revealed the depth that the arrow had penetrated, causing extensive internal bleeding, nicking a major artery and piercing his intestines. RSPCA chief inspector David O'Shannessy warned that those responsible for the "extremely concerning" attack could face up to five year s in prison over the incident. "I'd urge anyone with information to contact Police or the RSPCA so the perpetrators of this disturbing attack can be held to account," he said. The Herreen family said they have never had any issues in the 10 years they have lived on the five acre property, however they did find a hunting arrow in the rear of their property six months earlier, raising concerns it may not be a one off incident. "This has been, from what we can tell, a deliberate shot at the dog," Mr Herreen said. "For what reason, that's what we really can't understand. "I'm just astounded that anyone could do this to any animal." ~*~*~*~*~*~* THe comments people made to this article in the paper made my blood boil :
  8. Dear Club Secretary I write to advise that the Lang Lang P A & H Association Championship Show to be conducted on Saturday 15th January (tomorrow) has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. Could you please cross-post this advice to your members. Thank you for your assistance. Regards Judy Judy Haynes Member Services Co-ordinator DOGS Victoria (Member Body of the Australian National Kennel Council)
  9. Rottsup, I have no explainations or experience with this all I can do is offer hugs I am so sorry, I know you must be shattered :D Again so sorry...
  10. I agree Lisa, mum and I were saying the exact same thing yesterday. Sad for everyone involved, esp the poor lady who lost her precious JRT. It doesn't matter what breed of dog you own you MUST house them accordingly. If the fence is broken, falling down etc, crate them til it can be fixed, board them til it can be fixed or get temporary fencing installed in the interum - its NOT that hard! Unfortuntely these two escaped from a place with unsecure fencing and their pray drive kicked in for whatever reason, doesn't necessarily mean that they would have done the same thing to a person or a child. A very sad situation all around.
  11. children+ a dogs eating its dinner.... NOT a good combination. Poor wee child. Stupid Stupid parents!!!
  12. A and G, try looking at this from a different angle.... You are walking with your dog happily minding your own business and a larger dog 'rushes or charges' (as it is sometimes called) up to your dog with his hackles raised. A) You dont know if this dog rushing up toward you and your dog (you also may have a child) is friendly. B) Importantly your DOG doesn't know if this dog is friendly. C) Your dog may not like other dogs. D) What if the dog your lab is rushing at is dog aggressive? You are doing your dog an injustice by allowing this behaviour. For the benefit of your dog I would recommend a long line until your dog understands that its unacceptable behaviour to just rush up to another dog or person, its bad manners. I can almost guarantee that if this dog were black and tan you'd probably be posting today about THAT dog on this website and about how he charged at your dog ;) All I am saying is to look at this from the other dog owners perspective
  13. oh forgot to mention if the pup was microchipped by breeder then you will need to transfer that ownership into your name too (some breeders like to be the 2nd contact so you may wish to speak with your breeder about that). I am second contact for my puppies, if the owner cant be contacted they will contact me.
  14. Do you wish to exhibit or show the dog? If so, then yes the papers need to be tranferred into your name by Dogs NSW (unless your breeder is doing the showing). There is no law stating that you need to send in the paperwork and transfer the Pedigree into your name. As long as you have paperwork stating that the previous owner sold you the dog (in your case the signed pedigree papers) that's all that matters.
  15. You need to submit the original signed pedigree papers to your Kennel Council, they will then issue a new set of papers in your name and yes there is a cost associated with it, which may vary from state to state. The previous owner should have signed the reverse of the pedigree papers confiming the transfer to you.
  16. Just wondering if anyone knows of any holiday rentals etc that are dog friendly in Lancefield?
  17. Yeah Dogs Vic will alter the paperes if I take in a stat dec stating that I made an error, will get it all done tomorrow. Have told puppies owners and they are cool with everything :p
  18. Andisa, there is one woman there who is never nice, she never smiles and she is always rude and treats you like am imbecile, perhaps she's the one you got? I just hope tomorrow I dont get her
  19. I know you cant change the name, that's clearly stated on the forms, but it was the sex of the dogs that I messed up on, the name wont change at all, just the sex and it doesn't say anything at all about if you make a mistake with the sex..... Will see how we go
  20. STUPID me had mixed up 2 names - the name that was meant to be for a girl i put down as a dog and the name for the dog was put down for the bitch..... Does anyone know if this is able to be rectified. I forgot about it until now and now Dogs Vic is closed for phone enquiries and people are coming around tonight to pick up their girl.

  23. I just got of the phone to Dogs Vic and actually spoke to a friendly person  She said they would need it in writing from the breeder to alter any endorsement on the back of the pedigree, ie, if you tick the NOT TO BE BRED FROM box and 2 years down the line you change your mind, you will need to write a letter to the CEO of Dogs Vic stating that you want the endorsement lifted and they will lift the endorsement and issue a new Certificate of Registration and Pedigree.
