All the bitches in Jett's lines (Dams side) have been great mums, her breeder owned/s them all.

Thank you everyone and I will definately let you know how we go. We have started taking her temp tonight and will do so twice daily (poor Jett) so that we get a good record of what her regular temp is.

Tears have stopped, have spoken with Marg now and we are going natural I am feeling so much better about it now. Have also spoken with 2 other breeders on the phone, one who had to deal with my blubbering... ;)

I am sitting here in tears at the moment with no idea what to do..... Jett is due to have her puppies this week and this is my first litter. She had her x-ray today and there were 12 skulls but the vet seems to think there were more behind the ribcage as she carries quite high. He has suggested a c-section and told me it would be safer for her and her puppies so I booked it in. I have since spoken to a good friend and she has told me of quite a few things that the vet didn't mention.... like her rejecting her puppies as she is a maiden bitch, her milk drying up etc, the stress of her waking from the anestetic and the pain from the surgery. Can I please have the opinions of breeders who have a breed of dog that generally whelp larger litters, who have been in a similar situation. I cant get in contact with my breeder/mentor and another breeder friend as she is out. I just want Jett and her puppies to be okay and I want to do what is right for her, I know she is going to be a great mum and I am sure that she is more than capable of delivering that many babies now that I've spoken to others.

Jett had her x-ray this morning..... ;) 12 skulls, however he said there could be some hiding behind the ribcage. She is booked in for a c-section on Friday I have a 10kg barrel of biolac and bottles to feed them, lucky school holidays are on as Riley will be helping me

Here is a study but no significant association was detected., however there was a tendency that early spayed bitches were less likely to be incontinent. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=A...mp;searchtype=a This study below says there IS evidence to suggest a higher incidence of urinary incontinence 12.9% v 5% abd cystitis in bitches spayed prior to 5.5 months of age... German Shepherd Died In Tragic Accident
TrinaJ replied to Riley'n'Mia's topic in General Dog Discussion
Shadow died when Riley was 3 1/2 - I told Riley that Shadow got sick and the vet couldn't fix him and that he had gone to Heaven. He asked when he was coming back and I told him that he was with God now, as he was too special for this world and God was going to keep him. RIley had a little cry, said he would miss Shadow and that was it. To this day Riley still tells me that he misses Shadow but knows that he is safe in Heaven. My neighbours tried to tell me that I was wrong because they 'belive' dogs have no soul....I told them believe what you like, this is MY belief and that is all that counts in my home. Children are a lot stronger than what we give them credit for. I am so sorry for your tragic loss RIP beautiful boy... -
I had the Super Striker and it took Jett and Bandit all of 5 minutes to pull off the ropes! Jolly Ball lasted a week before Bandit ripped a hole in it.... ETA: It would depend on the breed of dog and how 'hard' they go at their toys.

Well Meaning Friends Want To Visit The New Babies!
TrinaJ replied to LizT's topic in Breeders Community
I have told my potential puppy people that they can visit the puppies from week 5 onwards. Prior to that I will email them pictures and send them updates. Regardless, before they touch the puppies they will need to sanitise their hands and remove their shoes if the puppies are inside. The puppies health is of the utmost importance to me and if I hurt someones feelings by saying no they are too young to visit then so be it! Other breeder friends, well that's a different story, they can come around earlier. -
After the teleconference the state rottweiler clubs had last week, it was decided that along with the letters each of the individual clubs and their members had written the NRC(A) would also write a letter on behlaf of all members - this draft letter was read out to all on the teleconference and it was mentioned that titles 'front and rear' of the pedigree should be included in this letter so that future tiles cannot be taken away. The NRC(A), like the GSDCV have also offered their assistance relating to any ideas that concern rottweilers. Emails from the FCI and IFR (international friends of the rottweiler) are being sourced to support this and will also be sent with the letter. There were a few other issues that are relevant to the rottweiler standard that the ADRK need to address so that will also be included in the letter (nothing anyone here really needs to know about). Sorry I've taken a while to post this, we were away for the weekend (Thur-Mon). Even though they 'SAY' it was an admin error we still need to make sure they understand the importance of what is on a pedigree and why we will not tolerate them being altered.

Shell, I only just watched the clip of Zero and would like to commend you and thank you for not giving up on him - your clip brought tears to my eyes, if only everyone were as dedicated to their dogs we'd have a lot more stable happy dogs in the world. You are a credit to him

I agree with getting him out in the show ring that way you know that he conforms to the breed standard. You may think he is an exceptional dog but having someone judge your dog in front of your peers will help as they will give (i'd hope) an unbiased assessment of your dog. Also you need to ask yourself the following questions... a) Does HE have the desired temperament of your breed? b) Does HE conform to the breed standard? You will soon learn this if you start to show him. b) What does MY dog have to offer the breed? c) How can someone using HIM improve their lines and the breed in general? d) Are HIS lines rare in Australia? e) What are his Sire/Dam and other siblings producing? Do they have any faults? f) Is there any health issues in HIS line?

110% serious!!! That and gingerbread is my super special high value treat - I am not kidding, she would rather have a sweet biscuit or donut over meat any day!! I don't use it every time, usually only for "special occasions" like trials etc. This is what happens when I crack out a donut at training... or a gingerbread bickie... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EirXW2xt52Q ETA: And she doesn't get the whole biscuit or donut, well maybe if we got a really good pass (but that hasn't happened yet ) LOL That's fantastic, love the focus. You found the tool that worked for her - I may have to try Krispy Kreme donuts myself with my 2 - if they dont pay attention at least someone will get the reward in the end ME!!! I never thought of using a sweet for motivation, but hey they have tastebuds just like we do.....

Jett just shy of 7 weeks pregnant, lots of nipple development now. Going in for x-ray on Tuesday next week.
